• KERRANGS! FIRST ISSUE WAS RELEASED ON THE 6TH OF JUNE 1981. FROM MY OWN KNOWLEDGE I KNOW THAT THE TARGET AUDIENCE OF KERRANG! IS THOSE WHO ARE INTO ROCK/METAL/SCREAMO TYPE MUSIC. KERRANG! IS A MUSIC MAGAZINE, RADIO STATION AND TELEVISION CHANNEL SO THE TARGET AUDIENCE CAN READ THE ARTICLES IN THE MAGAZINE, LISTEN TO THE MUSIC WHILST IN THE CAR ON THE RADIO AND WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEOS ON THEIR TELEVISION CHANNEL AT HOME.

• THE FIRST ISSUE OF Q CAME OUT IN OCTOBER 1986. Q IS A MAGAZINE PUBLISHED MONTHLY AND ALSO A RADIO STATION. Q FEATURES NEW RELEASES (MUSIC), REISSUES (MUSIC), MUSIC COMPILATIONS, FILM AND LIVE CONCERT REVIEWS, AS WELL AS RADIO AND TELEVISION REVIEWS; THIS THEREFORE MEANING THAT Q HAS A WIDE TARGET AUDIENCE.

• IPC MEDIA WAS FOUND IN 1958. THEY HAVE MORE THAN 60 ICONIC MEDIA BRANDS AND IS A MULTIPLATFORM BRAND. THEY ARE THE UK’S LEADING CONSUMER MAGAZINE PUBLISHER WITH PRINT MAGAZINES REACHING AROUND 26 MILLION UK ADULTS SOME MAGAZINES THEY PRODUCE ARE NME, MARIE CLAIRE, CHAT, GOLF MONTHLY, NOW, TEEN NOW, NUTS, SOAPLIFE, SHOOTING GAZETTE, WHAT'S ON TV, WOMAN'S WEEKLY, AND HOME. NME IS A MAINSTREAM MAGAZINE.

• EMAP OWNS LEADING BRANDS IN THE MAGAZINE INDUSTRY. ESTABLISHED IN 1947, THEIR MAGAZINE INCLUDES GENRES SUCH AS RETAIL, HEALTH, CONSTRUCTION, ARCHITECTURE AND FASHION. BRANDS AT EMAP INCLUDE SMASH HITS (1978-2006), RETAIL WEEK, H&V NEWS, NURSING.TIMES.NET AND CONSTRUCTION NEWS. BECAUSE OF EMAPS’S BRAND FOCUS ON SPECIFIC INDUSTRIES I WOULD SAY THAT EMAP ARE NOT A VERY WELL-KNOWN MAGAZINE INDUSTRY THIS LED ME TO BELIEVE THEY ARE A NICHE MAGAZINE INDUSTRY.

• IN 1985, THE ‘TELEVISION ESTABLISHMENT’ WAS CREATED TO DEAL WITH THE EXPLOIT OF TELEVISION PROGRAMS. THE ‘RADIO ESTABLISHMENT” WAS THEN CREATED IN 1965 HOWEVER FOLLOWING THE RETIREMENT OF THE RADIO ENTERPRISES GENERAL MANAGER IN 1969, THE TWO DEPARTMENTS WERE MERGED TO FORM THE BBC ENTERPRISES DEPARTMENT. IN 1979, THE DEPARTMENT BECAME BBC ENTERPRISES LTD BUT WAS SUBSEQUENTLY REORGANIZED IN 195 AS THE BBC WORLDWIDE LTD WHICH IS WHAT WE KNOW IT AS TODAY.

• THIS MAGAZINE IS A MONTHLY ISSUE, AND WAS FIRST PUBLISHED IN JUNE 1992. THE MAGAZINE REFLECTS PRIMARILY ON CLASSICAL MUSIC, DEVOTING ITSELF TO THE BROADCAST OUTPUT ON BBC RADIO 3, THE MAGAZINE ALSO TALKS ABOUT JAZZ AND WORLD MUSIC. AN APPEALING ASPECT OF THE MAGAZINE, IS THAT EVERY EDITION COMES WITH A CD, WHICH MAINLY INCLUDES BBC RECORDINGS OF FULL-LENGTH WORKS. THE TARGET AUDIENCE WOULD BE ADULTS, MAINLY MALE BUT COULD BE FEMALES, WHO ARE INTERESTED IN CLASSICAL MUSIC.

• THIS MAGAZINE IS RELEASED ON A WEEKLY BASIS, COVERING ALL ASPECTS OF WHAT'S GONE ON IN THE FOOTBALLING WORLD IN THE TOP 4 ENGLISH DIVISIONS. THE MAGAZINE CONTAINS EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEWS, TRANSFER RUMORS, AS WELL AS FREE POSTERS AND OTHER FREE STUFF. THE TARGET AUDIENCE WOULD BE KIDS AND YOUNG TEENAGERS, MAINLY BOYS BUT GIRLS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN FOOTBALL.

• FOR MY MAGAZINE I WOULD WANT BAUER MEDIA GROUP. FOR ME THIS PUBLICATION IS VERY SUCCESSFUL AS THEY HAVE MANY MAGAZINES AND COMPANIES THAT I QUITE ENJOY MYSELF. THEIR MAGAZINE ‘KERRANG’ IS QUITE A SIMILAR GENRE TO THE MAGAZINE I WANT TO CREATE. THEY ALSO HAVE TV CHANNELS THAT ARE LIKE KERRANG! AND RADIO STATIONS LIKE KERRANG! WHICH ARE BOTH MUSIC BASED WHICH FITS IN WITH MY THEME.
