Camera At first during the prelim I found it difficult to use the camera.

However during our main task handling the camera was not an issue. We knew when getting establishing shot we needed to be calm and steady so that the shots don’t come out shaky. We also managed to get a variety of different camera angles and shots to meet the conventions needed for a film opening.

iMovie We used iMovie to edit our film. We cut a lot from our clips when editing

because we wanted to have relevant dialogues and shots. We also added titles so that it fits the typical conventions for a film opening.

iMovie is a good software to use because it enables you to copy, paste, cut from clips, we can change the volume of the dialogue to make it louder or quieter depending if we want to hear the background noise. We can also drag and drop the clips onto the timeline on iMovie which enables us to play the clips and see if they work well together.

Garageband We used garageband to create the soundtrack for our film opening.

On the right side of garageband, there’s keys which have different genre and type of instruments. When you click on one a list of sounds appear we played around with these keys till we found the sounds that where similar to what we wanted to create.

On iMovie we timed where we wanted the track to start playing, and used the time to create a soundtrack on garageband that would be the same length.

Garageband always used the drag and drop principle just like iMovie.

When satisfied with the soundtrack produced we saved it to make sure its saved on the macs, then went to ‘share>export podcast to iTunes>save’ The sound track was saved to iTunes. From there we went to iMovie and clicked on the music logo and our soundtrack was there.

This is not a complicated software to use as it enabled us to save our soundtrack quickly and retrieve it easily so that we can upload it onto our film.

Saved on iTunes as ‘BLUNT SONG’

Other Applications Voice

Recording:

We recorded the dialogue between Shaun and Rochelle via a dictaphone.

When we recorded the voice over of Rochelle we had to import the recording onto iMovie.

We saved the recording on iTunes, then imported onto iMovie, then dragged it onto the clip.

The green sound waves shows the length of the recording.

The applications that we used to edit and produce our film opening where very useful. For example the iMovie; its very dependable as our film gets saved automatically onto the macs, so we don’t have to worry about not finding it and starting the edit again. Also when we finally finished editing our film and everyone was happy with the way things looked and sound, uploading it on YouTube was not difficult also.

Overall I’ve learnt that technology has advanced a lot throughout time especially with the help of web 2.0. Without the software’s iMovie and Garageband I don’t think we would of created a decent enough film opening to submit to the examiner.
