DAILY EXCELSIOR, JAMMU SUNDAY, MAY 18, 2014 (PAGE 5) Refugees celebrate victory of Modi, defeat of Madan Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, May 17: Refugees from Pak Occupied Jammu and Kashmir today organised a rally to celebrate victory of BJP especially Narendra Modi and defeat of Congress-NC coalition candi- date from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha constituency Madan Lal Sharma here today. A large number of refugees, originally hailing from Chhamb, Deva Batala, Mirpur, Kotli, Muzaffarbad, Palandari and Bagh areas of Pak held Jammu and Kashmir, under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir PoJK Refugee Front -1947, 1965, 1971 assembled at Exhibition Ground near Press Club here and organised a massive vic- tory rally. President of the organization Rachhpal Singh Chib was leading. Besides him, several sen- ior leaders of the organisation including senior vice presi- dent, Sham Singh, vice presi- dents Krishna Chib, Ch Ajit Singh and Jaswant Singh also addressed the gathering and celebrated the victory of BJP candidates, Jugal Kishore Sharma and Dr Jitendra Singh and party's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. They also celebrated the defeat of Congress-NC coali- tion candidate Madan Lal Sharma and claimed that it was result of denial of sup- port to Madan Lal by refugee voters whose number is nearly ten lakhs in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch. They also distributed sweets and raised slogans in support of Modi. Mr Chib while addressing rally described the defeat of Cong-NC candidate as victory of refugees who categorically rejected them for befooling over ten lakh refuges for the last over five to six decades. The Congress leaders, MPs and even PCC president befooled the refugees and used them as vote bank. They have stabbed them at the back. Even some agents within the refugees struck secret deal with them by installing candi- date to contest elections and then back tracked. Such ele- ments stood exposed. The refugees have understood their designs. Mr Chib, Krishna Chib vice president Sham Lal Choudhary appealed the refugees to reject such black sheep with in the refugees who are com- promising the interests of refugees for their personal gains. They strongly demanded that Section 370 be removed so that refugees could get jus- tice. They described NC, Congress and even PDP dead- ly against refugees and claimed that abrogation of 370 was must and BJP must seriously think over this tem- porary provision. The Corporation has also earned a profit of Rs.3.83 crore during last fiscal and has become the first PSU of the State, to have fully updated its annual accounts. The statutory audit for the Financial Year 2013-14 is in process and will be completed and placed before the shareholders within scheduled time frame prescribed under the Law. This was stated at the meet- ing of the Board of Directors of J&K State Financial Corporation held today under the chairmanship of the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather. The Economic Advisor to Government, Jalil Ahmad Khan, Principle Secretary Finance, B.B. Vyas, Managing Director, SFC, Mohammad Farooq Thoker, Assistant General Manager SIDBI, Anuj Jain, Taffazal Hussain, Deputy General Manager of SFC, Mohammad Rafique Dar and N.A. Bhat, besides concerned officers were also present in the meeting. The meeting was informed that the Corporation has sanc- tioned loans of Rs.20.42 crore as credit in favour of entrepreneurs during the last fiscal besides effecting recovery to the tune of Rs.19.55 crore during the same period. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rather called for a compre- hensive and fool proof system at pre-loan sanction stage to bridge the gap between sanction and disbursement of loans. He also urged for an effective recovery drive besides imparting training to its staff at both clerical and officers level to upgrade the skills of human resource. He also urged for a strong monitor- ing mechanism and tight inter- nal recovery management sys- tem to bring further efficiency and improvement in the overall functioning of the Corporation. He also impressed on the management to ensure that loans disbursed to the entrepreneurs are practically utilized at ground for setting up of business units. He assured full support of the Government, to the management in restoring the past glory of the Corporation, adding that the management too has onerous responsibility to achieve all the targets assigned to it from time to time. The Managing Director, while briefing about the per- formance of the Corporation said that apart from recovering Rs.19.55 crore during last fiscal, the Corporation has recovered an amount of Rs.59.64 lakh and Rs.37.20 lakh through auction and litigation routes respective- ly. Police cane-charge protestors demanding setting up of commission for reservation Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, May 17: Police resorted to cane-charge to dis- perse the students who were holding protest demanding set- ting up a commission for reser- vation for BPL and middle class of upper castes”. The students under the ban- ner of National Front for Equality (NFFE) led by its pres- ident Pawan Singh Chib and provincial president Ranjit Singh assembled outside Press Club and raised slogans in favour of their demands. The protestors were demanding setting up a commis- sion for reservation for BPL and middle class of upper castes. Later, the agitating students in the shape of rally started marching towards Dogra Chowk and tried to block the vehicular movement. Heavy deployment of police restricted their attempt and restored to lathicharge to dis- perse the protestors. During lathi-charge some students received minor injuries and two students were arrested, who were released later. While speaking, Pawan Chib said that the reservation policy was started for only 10 years and it was to be abolished after that but even after 67 years of Independence the reservation policy stands where it was 67 years ago. “Only leaders of Jammu can explain why they didn't speak on the issue all that time”, he said, adding that the people of upper caste were fed up with reserva- tion policy and were at the brink of losing their identity. Chib further said that the people of upper castes in the past were known as landlords but now majority of the popula- tion was working as labourers. He claimed that the condi- tion of upper castes people had deteriorated to such an extent that in some areas people can not even afford their meals. “Even the schemes started by the Government only favour one section of the society and people of upper castes were neg- lected in formation of schemes”, he added. Chib appealed the general public to come forward and sup- port the moment. PIL seeking check on indecent, vulgar advt s, progs on TV DB issues notice to I&B Ministry, TRAI, others Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, May 17: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking check on indecent, vul- gar and inappropriate advertise- ments and programmes on vari- ous Television Channels, Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Mohd Yaqoob Mir and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur has issued notice to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Advertising Standards Council of India, Central Board of Film Certifications, State of J&K and State Law Ministry. In the PIL filed by Law stu- dent of University of Jammu namely Paras Gupta, it has been submitted that television view- ers are being forced to watch vulgar, obscene, defamatory, false, indecent and immoral con- tents, which otherwise no pru- dent person would ever like to watch with his/her family and especially children. "There are a lot of pro- grammes/advertisements which are providing false information to the consumers about the prod- ucts and some advertisements are also encouraging blind belief and superstition, which are diffi- cult to be proved and are mis- leading", the petitioner said, adding "some of the pro- grammes and advertisements show the stature of a woman in an inappropriate and undignified manner in order to sponsor their product". "The situation becomes so awkward when viewers go through such type of derogatory advertisements which portrays a women in a sexual and indecent manner", the petitioner said, adding "such advertisements also violate the constitutional guarantees provided by the Constitution of India to women and other persons". Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi and Advocate Ankesh Chandel appearing for the PIL submitted that the idea behind the creation of the regulatory authorities was to ensure that the viewers are not subjected to uncensored content on the television. "But regulato- ry agencies are acting as a silent spectators and their silence is forcing the general public to face a lot of humiliation/embar- rassment especially when they are watching the television along with their family includ- ing minors", he added. After going through the PIL and hearing counsels, the DB issued notice to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Advertising Standards Council of India, Central Board of Film Certifications, State of J&K and State Law Ministry. One yr RI to accused in molestation case Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, May 17: Presiding Officer Fast Track Court Sanjeev Gupta today awarded one year imprisonment to one Kuldeep Singh, who was facing trial for molesting a girl student. According to the police case, on March 12, 2012 prose- cutirx lodged a written report with Bishnah Police that she was chased by the accused when she had gone to the fields and thereafter the accused molested her. After hearing both the sides, Presiding Officer Fast Track Court Sanjeev Gupta observed, "protection of society and deter- ring the criminal is avowed object of law and that is required to be achieved by imposing an appropriate sen- tence". "It is the duty of the court to hear the loud cry for justice by society in case of sexual molestation with innocent help- less girls and respond by impos- ing of proper sentence", the court said. With these observations, Court awarded one year rigor- ous imprisonment and fine of Rs 10,000 to one Kuldeep Singh.

SFC becomes eligible for refinance from SIDBIRather for bridging gap between
