Gospel Meditation January 2, 2022 | THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD

Guided by the Light of God. Mary Mother of God. Feast of the Epiphany.

We begin a New Year. We are essen ally op mis c people. We have hope in the future in spite of possible dangers and inevitable prob-

lems. Op mism is the only a tude a Chris an can adopt because we believe in the goodness of God and his plans for our eternal happi-ness. St. Paul’s statement in Romans has always been a source of

strength and op mism for me: “For those who love God, all things work out for good.” (Rom, 8, 28)

Our op mism is grounded in reality, however, and we can be sure the coming year will not be wonderful in every way. So we begin the year with prayer, the greatest prayer we have, the Mass, asking for God’s blessing and help for the future. The beginning of a new year is a pro-found event. Everything we do this year will be fundamentally guided by the answers we give. Our faith tells us there is only one

reliable answer: the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ. That’s why we pray, why we come to Mass, why we are encouraged to read the Scripture, so we can be guided by his light, his wisdom, his truth. We’re all traveling together. Our feast today reminds us that our rela onship with God is a journey too. Some people are just ge ng started and some may be well along the way. Our journey toward God, though, is not like a conveyor belt. We have to put our own energy and movement into the process or that journey

will stop. We hear the story today of magi, the important message is the magi didn’t dive up. The important message for us too is not to give up in our search to know the Lord. The greatest journey of all, though, is not just to make of ourselves a success in this life, but to find the eternal love our hearts really seek and which we were created for, and that is God’s love. Epiphany shows us

God wants to reveal his love to us. Epiphany shows us we have to keep moving in his direc on if we hope to find it.

Jesús desea mostrarte a la diferencia entre los pensamientos verdaderos, que dan vida prospera y los nega vos que dañan el vivir. El Señor desea que la luz de su misericordia brille sobre las situaciones que tu encuentras que no enen esperanza y que son

decepciones. Dios envió a su Hijo para ayudarte. El Padre envió a su Hijo para que tú también puedas proclamar en tu familia: “He visto su gloria”. ¡Dios no está lejos! El Señor habita en y desea que lo veas en medio de tus circunstancias co dianas. En el Nuevo Año, pregúntale en que áreas de tu vida necesitas ver más la gloria de Dios. Entrégese y pídele que te muestre Su Gracia y su verdad para tu vida en este Nuevo Año del 2022. Jesús vino a habitar en medio de nosotros para que podamos contemplar Su Gloria en todas partes de nuestra vida, ¡También en aquellas en las que más nos hemos dado por vencidos! “Señor, te ruego que en el Año 2022, actuemos como Iglesia de Cristo, juntos peregrinemos en el Camino de Dios, bajo el impulso del Espíritu Santo y

con la certeza de que nos espera el Padre Dios con los brazos abiertos en su Reino.

Orar – Escuchar – Analizar – Dialogar – Discernir

Deseo que cada uno de estos senderos de la vida nos lleven por el camino durante el Año 2022. Gracias a todos los que nos fortale-cen con la oración, y la par cipación en la Santa Misa. Gracias a los Padres por mantener sus hijos en el camino de la educación

aquí en nuestra Parroquia. Vamos a hacer todo lo posible para que el Año 2022 sea lleno de Paz y Bendición de Dios en cada hogar. Que la Virgen Maria nos ayude a permanecer unidos y responsables por el futuro de cada Familia.

¡Oh Dios, Bendícenos en el Año 2022!
