Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Apr 21: The endoscopy machine, which went missing on Tuesday from Super Speciality Hospital, Jammu, was recovered late last night from the concerned doctor’s room. According to Babila Rakwal, chairperson of the committee, which was constituted by the Principal, GMC Jammu, Dr Zaheed Geelani, to shift the Gastro Department and all relat- ed medical equipments to GMC Jammu, the endoscopy machine was recovered late last night from the room of Dr Showket Choudhary. She said many communiqués were sent to Dr Showket Choudhary to come and cooperate and hand over the machine to us but he refused to cooperate, which compelled us to break open the lock of his office room in SSH Jammu, from where the endoscopy machine was recovered. She further said that the con- cerned doctor has already been attached to the office of Principal, GMC Jammu, and as soon as he joins an inquiry will be initiated against him. DAILY EXCELSIOR, JAMMU FRIDAY, APRIL 22, 2016 (PAGE 7) Naeem directs for starting evening classes on experimental basis Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Apr 21: Minister for Education Naeem Akthar today conducted surprise inspection of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Bazar Qasaban in Upper Gujjar Nagar, here today and took stock of the functioning of the institution . The Minister inspected vari- ous class rooms and interacted with the students. He directed Principal to rationalize the stu- dent staff ratio to provide maxi- mum benefit to the students and asked to ensure that there are maximum 50 students in one section. He also directed for starting evening classes in the school on experimental basis from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily to facilitate the students. Mr Akhtar asked for provid- ing adequate facilities to the stu- dents and directed the concerned to maintain inspection register and other records properly. Interacting with the staff, the Minister stressed upon them to imbibe moral values in the stu- dents, adding that in the mod- ern era, when the world has squeezed as a global village, the students have to face tremen- dous challenges and teachers have to take up this responsibil- ity to nurture and prepare their students in such a way that they achieve success and become an asset to the society and nation . The Principal apprised the Minister that for 410 students enrolled in the School there are 14 Lecturers, 16 Teachers and 6 non teaching staff. He was also informed that 3 schools have also been merged with this Higher Secondary School to provide better facilities to the students. JAKFED to provide 150 gas connections to Ladakhi students in Jammu: Dorjay Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Apr 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Marketing Federation (JAKFED) would provide 150 gas connec- tions through Public Distribution System to the students belonging to Ladakh region, studying in var- ious educational institutions in Jammu. The JAKFED would also set up distribution of gas sale out- lets at different parts of Jammu city and its vicinity area where the Ladakhi students are resid- ing for their convenience. The decision in this regard was taken by the Minister for Cooperatives, Chering Dorjay in a meeting held with the officers of JAKFED and Executive Councillors of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh (LAHDC) here today. Since it was felt that the number of students may vary from time to time, as such it was decided that each student may be provided the facility of indi- vidual connections with two cylinders, with a rider that on completion of their studies in Jammu, they will surrender the connection. All the new connec- tions will, however, be subject to periodical renewal on produc- tion of certificate from the head of the educational institution. The meeting also decided that JAKFED would provide two new connections with dou- ble LPG Cylinder facility in the name of the incharge Ladakhi Girls Hostel, Muthi and Jammu through PDS. However, period- ical renewal condition will not apply in case of the hostel. The meeting was told that for establishing 'key building material stocking depot' in Leh, 2 acre land is required for leas- ing out by the Government besides there is also need of State land of one acre each for setting up of such depot at Nobra and Nyoma. The meeting also informed that there is need of 10 kanal land at Nobra for establishment of a petrol pump. The Minister instructed Managing Director, JAKFED to proceed to Leh for identifying suitable land sites so that the matter would be taken up with the authorities of LAHDC for leasing out the land to establish the said facilities for the conven- ience of people at the earliest. The Minister said Government is also contem- plating to establish cold atmos- phere storage facilities in Ashjipora Anantnag and Meransahib Jammu through JAKFED and instructed Managing Director, JAKFED to formulate the project reports for sanction of funds from NCD for the purpose. Mr Dorjay also asked the concerned authorities to upgrade and renovate warehouse of JAKFED at Gobindsar in Kathua, adding that it would be used for stocking food grains of the Food Corporation of India. Sat undertakes cleanliness drive Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Apr 21: In a pro- gramme, jointly organized by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and BJP Jammu West district, BJP State President & MLA Sat Sharma (C.A), under- took cleanliness drive in Kabir Basti, BC Road, Jammu under "Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday" campaign. He also distributed forms for availing assistance for construction of toilets for the poor people besides making people aware of various welfare schemes launched by PM Narendra Modi. Sat Sharma was also briefed about the problems and needs related to the sanitation and basic amenities in the area. This programme was part of last phase of the nation-wide ten days series, which commenced on Dr BR Ambedkar Jayanti and is to conclude on Panchayat Divas falling on April 24. NRHM employees meet Bhagat Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Apr 21: A deputa- tion of NRHM Employees Welfare Association, Jammu, met Health and Medical Education Minister, Bali Bhagat and apprised him about the problems faced by them. The deputation urged the Minister to take measures for framing up of regularisation pol- icy for NRHM employees in a time bound manner. The Minister was apprised about stagnation of incentives for Doctors since 2012, non- availability of incentives to Paramedics and programme management staff and only approx around 25% increase in salary for different categories of NRHM employees during last four years, which has lead to consequent decrease in purchas- ing capacity because of phe- nomenal increase in dearness and requested to give substantial hike in salary and incentives for 2016-17 commensurate with dearness and in consonance with 7th Pay Commission. He was also apprised about the injustice meted out to NRHM employees of the State by not allowing them leave with salary so far. As demand for paid earned leave, maternity leave, medical leave etc was justified by provid- ing the order copies of same, leave with salary, applicable to NRHM employees of other States across India, besides being a vio- lation of fundamental human rights as well, was also brought to the notice of the Health Minister. Ganga assesses damage to standing wheat crop Excelsior Correspondent SAMBA, Apr 21: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga today vis- ited border village of Dag Channi in Ramgarh area in district Samba to assess the damage to standing wheat crop due to short circuit. The Minister was accompa- nied by District Development Commissioner, Sheetal Nanda, SSP Samba Joginder Singh, SDM Vijaypur Rajnish Gupta, Tehsildar Ramgarh J K Sharma and con- cerned officers. It was informed that around 50 kanal of standing wheat crop has been totally damaged due to fire in the fields. Immediately upon noticing the fire, the residents of village informed the Fire Services Department. The spread of fire was controlled and fire tenders managed to douse the flames sav- ing adjoining fields. The Minister expressed his sympathy with the farmers whose crop were damaged in the fire incident. The farmers include Tarsem Lal S/o Sansar Chand, Ashok Kumar S/o Punnu Ram, Rani Devi W/o Pritam Lal, Piyari Devi W/o Bhagwan Dass, Babu Ram S/o Chanchal, Shiv Ram S/o Dheru Ram and Lal Chand S/o Bana Ram, all residents of village Dag Channi. He assured the farm- ers of all possible support from the Government. The Minister directed the DDC to provide financial support to the farmers under the SDRF and Red Cross funds. SRLM to help in economic empowerment of women: Haq, Sunil Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Apr 21: Minister for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj and Law & Justice Abdul Haq Khan today visited block Bishnah and inter- acted with the members of Self Help Group (SHG) formed under Jammu and Kashmir State Rural Livelihood Mission (JKSRLM). On the occasion, Minister of State for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Sunil Sharma, Vice Chairman, J&K Advisory Board for Development of Scheduled Castes Bhushan Lal Dogra, Mission Director, JKSRLM Dr. G. Shif ting of precious items to Srinagar DSS smells conspiracy of destroying cultural heritage of Jammu Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Apr 21: Former Minister and president Dogra Sadar Sabha Gulchain Singh Charak has alleged that there seems to be a deep rooted conspir- acy of destroying the cultural her- itage of Jammu by shifting pre- cious items from Jammu to Kala Kendra Srinagar. Addressing a press conference along with members of Executive Committee of the Sabha here today Mr Charak thanked the general public and various social and cultural organizations for their active participation and coopera- tion in various programmes con- ducted by the Dogra Sadar Sabha in collaboration with the Tourism Department. He also stated that since Dogra Sadar Sabha observes "Save the Birds Day" every year for saving the birds from dying of thirst by providing water to these birds, by hanging the clay pots full of water in & outside the houses and other suitable places, this year it has been decided that "Save the Birds Day" and "Water Conservation Day" shall be observed on May 7. He also disclosed that since the water bodies are being destroyed, water flowing through Nallahs, rivers etc. is being wasted and there is every likelihood that there may be water crises in near future, accordingly it is decided that May 7 shall also be observed as "Water Conservation Day". He said the Sabha felt the need of reviving the old water bodies for the conserva- tion of water particularly in Kandi areas so that ground water is recharged for public use. BJP sold Jammu cause for lust of power: Bhalla Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Apr 21: Accusing BJP of having sold its every single slogan and fundamentals for power, former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today said it had proved that lust knew no bars, no red lines. Accusing the BJP of bartering away the pride and honor of people of Jammu region to satisfy its lust for power, he appealed Jammuites to oppose, expose and depose the BJP’s Juggernaut for its dema- goguery and sheer opportunism. Directive to PWD officers Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Apr 21: Public Works Department (PWD) has issued a circular directing all the officers /officials of the department not to leave their headquarters without seeking proper permission from control- ling officers and not visit the Secretariat premises without proper permission from the con- troller. JAMMU, Apr 21: Theendoscopy machine, which wentmissing on Tuesday from SuperSpeciality Hospital, Jammu, wasrecovered late last night fromthe concerned doctor’s room.

According to Babila Rakwal,chairperson of the committee,which was constituted by thePrincipal, GMC Jammu, DrZaheed Geelani, to shift theGastro Department and all relat-ed medical equipments to GMCJammu, the endoscopy machinewas recovered late last night

from the room of Dr ShowketChoudhary.

She said many communiquéswere sent to Dr ShowketChoudhary to come and cooperateand hand over the machine to usbut he refused to cooperate, whichcompelled us to break open thelock of his office room in SSHJammu, from where the endoscopymachine was recovered.

She further said that the con-cerned doctor has already beenattached to the office ofPrincipal, GMC Jammu, and assoon as he joins an inquiry willbe initiated against him.

Naeem directs for starting evening classes on experimental basis

JAMMU, Apr 21: Ministerfor Education Naeem Akthartoday conducted surpriseinspection of Government GirlsHigher Secondary School, BazarQasaban in Upper Gujjar Nagar,here today and took stock of thefunctioning of the institution .

The Minister inspected vari-ous class rooms and interactedwith the students. He directedPrincipal to rationalize the stu-dent staff ratio to provide maxi-mum benefit to the students andasked to ensure that there aremaximum 50 students in onesection. He also directed forstarting evening classes in theschool on experimental basisfrom 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily tofacilitate the students.

Mr Akhtar asked for provid-ing adequate facilities to the stu-dents and directed the concernedto maintain inspection registerand other records properly.

Interacting with the staff, theMinister stressed upon them toimbibe moral values in the stu-dents, adding that in the mod-ern era, when the world hassqueezed as a global village, thestudents have to face tremen-dous challenges and teachershave to take up this responsibil-ity to nurture and prepare theirstudents in such a way that theyachieve success and become anasset to the society and nation .

The Principal apprised theMinister that for 410 studentsenrolled in the School there are14 Lecturers, 16 Teachers and 6non teaching staff. He was alsoinformed that 3 schools havealso been merged with thisHigher Secondary School toprovide better facilities to thestudents.

JAKFED to provide 150 gas connections to Ladakhi students in Jammu: DorjayExcelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Apr 21: The Jammuand Kashmir CooperativeMarketing Federation (JAKFED)would provide 150 gas connec-tions through Public DistributionSystem to the students belongingto Ladakh region, studying in var-ious educational institutions inJammu.

The JAKFED would also setup distribution of gas sale out-lets at different parts of Jammucity and its vicinity area wherethe Ladakhi students are resid-ing for their convenience.

The decision in this regardwas taken by the Minister forCooperatives, Chering Dorjay ina meeting held with the officersof JAKFED and ExecutiveCouncillors of LadakhAutonomous Hill DevelopmentCouncil, Leh (LAHDC) heretoday.

Since it was felt that thenumber of students may varyfrom time to time, as such it wasdecided that each student maybe provided the facility of indi-vidual connections with twocylinders, with a rider that oncompletion of their studies inJammu, they will surrender theconnection. All the new connec-tions will, however, be subjectto periodical renewal on produc-tion of certificate from the headof the educational institution.

The meeting also decidedthat JAKFED would providetwo new connections with dou-ble LPG Cylinder facility in the

name of the incharge LadakhiGirls Hostel, Muthi and Jammuthrough PDS. However, period-ical renewal condition will notapply in case of the hostel.

The meeting was told thatfor establishing 'key buildingmaterial stocking depot' in Leh,2 acre land is required for leas-ing out by the Governmentbesides there is also need ofState land of one acre each forsetting up of such depot atNobra and Nyoma. The meetingalso informed that there is needof 10 kanal land at Nobra forestablishment of a petrol pump.

The Minister instructedManaging Director, JAKFED toproceed to Leh for identifyingsuitable land sites so that thematter would be taken up withthe authorities of LAHDC forleasing out the land to establishthe said facilities for the conven-ience of people at the earliest.

The Minister saidGovernment is also contem-plating to establish cold atmos-phere storage facilities inAshjipora Anantnag andMeransahib Jammu throughJAKFED and instructedManaging Director, JAKFEDto formulate the project reportsfor sanction of funds fromNCD for the purpose.

Mr Dorjay also asked theconcerned authorities to upgradeand renovate warehouse ofJAKFED at Gobindsar inKathua, adding that it would beused for stocking food grains ofthe Food Corporation of India.

The Minister was apprisedabout stagnation of incentivesfor Doctors since 2012, non-availability of incentives toParamedics and programmemanagement staff and onlyapprox around 25% increase insalary for different categories ofNRHM employees during lastfour years, which has lead toconsequent decrease in purchas-

ing capacity because of phe-nomenal increase in dearnessand requested to give substantialhike in salary and incentives for2016-17 commensurate withdearness and in consonance with7th Pay Commission.

He was also apprised aboutthe injustice meted out to NRHMemployees of the State by notallowing them leave with salaryso far. As demand for paid earnedleave, maternity leave, medicalleave etc was justified by provid-ing the order copies of same,leave with salary, applicable toNRHM employees of other Statesacross India, besides being a vio-lation of fundamental humanrights as well, was also brought tothe notice of the Health Minister.

Minister assured the delega-tion that their demands would belooked into and appropriateaction will be taken.

Ganga assesses damage to standing

SAMBA, Apr 21: Minister forIndustries and Commerce,Chander Prakash Ganga today vis-ited border village of Dag Channiin Ramgarh area in district Sambato assess the damage to standingwheat crop due to short circuit.

The Minister was accompa-nied by District DevelopmentCommissioner, Sheetal Nanda,SSP Samba Joginder Singh, SDMVijaypur Rajnish Gupta, TehsildarRamgarh J K Sharma and con-cerned officers.

It was informed that around 50kanal of standing wheat crop hasbeen totally damaged due to fire inthe fields. Immediately uponnoticing the fire, the residents ofvillage informed the Fire ServicesDepartment. The spread of firewas controlled and fire tendersmanaged to douse the flames sav-ing adjoining fields.

The Minister expressed hissympathy with the farmers whosecrop were damaged in the fireincident. The farmers includeTarsem Lal S/o Sansar Chand,Ashok Kumar S/o Punnu Ram,Rani Devi W/o Pritam Lal, PiyariDevi W/o Bhagwan Dass, BabuRam S/o Chanchal, Shiv Ram S/oDheru Ram and Lal Chand S/oBana Ram, all residents of villageDag Channi. Addressing a press conferencealong with members of ExecutiveCommittee of the Sabha heretoday Mr Charak thanked thegeneral public and various socialand cultural organizations for theiractive participation and coopera-tion in various programmes con-ducted by the Dogra Sadar Sabhain collaboration with the TourismDepartment.

He also stated that since DograSadar Sabha observes "Save theBirds Day" every year for savingthe birds from dying of thirst byproviding water to these birds, byhanging the clay pots full of waterin & outside the houses and othersuitable places, this year it hasbeen decided that "Save the BirdsDay" and "Water ConservationDay" shall be observed on May 7.He also disclosed that since thewater bodies are being destroyed,water flowing through Nallahs,rivers etc. is being wasted andthere is every likelihood that theremay be water crises in near future,accordingly it is decided that May7 shall also be observed as "Water

Conservation Day". He said theSabha felt the need of reviving theold water bodies for the conserva-tion of water particularly in Kandiareas so that ground water isrecharged for public use.

He further said that a sloganwriting competition shall beorganized by the Sabha on April30 wherein, entries for attractiveslogan writing about "WaterConservation and Save the BirdsDay" shall be invited and threecash prizes awarded to 1st, 2ndand 3rd positions, respectively.
