Feature by Bryony DoddsLondon based Alix Shiftyshades Grey ’s career began back in 2008 when sheentered a Watford hair competition. Although she didn’t win, it was themoment she realised modelling was the path for her.Six years later, and she has since moved on to modelling for morealternative and creative shoots, where she has been printed among thepages of many successful publications, including Bizarre, a magazine shehad always dreamt of working with.Alix initially decided upon a career in modelling as she felt she needed aconfidence boost. She has since realised that although, yes, it has donewonders, at times it can also cause her to criticise herself. Despite this, shebelieves everyone should try modelling at least once in their life, as ahidden talent may emerge.Underwear is the key thing she feels are required to bring along to a shoot, along with personal makeup in the off-chance that the MUA on set doesn’thave suitable shades to suit skin tones. Latex and unusual colours are alsotwo of this posers favourite things to be incorporated into her images, andwith twenty-two piercings and her black pixie cut, Alix is one striking beauty.2014 brings an exciting year, as she will be heading to New York with anexceptionally talented photographer to shoot some magic.

What preparations do you undertake before a shoot/assignment?If I don't know a photographer or make up artist I usually check references onwebsites. Just to make sure that it's safe, as I tend to attend shoots on my own. Ialso try and get my nails right! What do you think makes a good model?I feel everyone can be a model if they want to be. I originally started because Ifelt I needed a confidence boost. It works but sometimes it does make mejudge myself. Vanity and rudeness doesn't qualify anyone to become a goodmodel because I dont feel anyone is better than anyone else. Everyone shouldtry a shoot at some point. You never know if you have a hidden talent that youweren't aware of.Do you have a favourite shoot/assignment that you've been involvedin?I am planning a group shoot for models, photographers, designers and makeup artists at Murder Mile Studios in London; that should be a challenge for me!I am a massive organisational freak! I like things done perfectly. I have been ina few of these group shoots before and find it's a great way to network. What are the key items you feel every model should have in their kit?Underwear! I once went to a shoot and I needed a pair of knickers to go withan outfit and totally forgot all underwear! I would also recommend taking yourmake up too in case the MUA doesn't have your colour, for examplefoundation. What's your favourite modelling style?LATEX!!! And lots of unusual collars to go with creative make up.
