Your help is needed as we prepare our Journal of memories.
Our 100th Anniversary Journal Commi ee is working on our parish history and needs your pictures of events in the parish, the School, Troop 85, parish socie-ties, sports and social occasions. We are asking all of you for your photo contribu ons. Please write on the backs of the pictures or on an a ached post-a-note telling us who the people are or what the event was and bring or send your pictures to the Parish Office. They will be copied and returned to you.
There will also be Reflections pages for individual family's memories, events and a picture. You can contact the Commi ee through the Parish Office and arrangements will be made for whatever you have to share. Since the Journal will have no advertisements it will be funded by do-
nors who will be acknowledged in print, and the Reflec-ons pages which are $300 for a half-page and
$500 for a full page. Contact us through the Parish Office and we will happily work with all you have to share.
100th Anniversary of St. Sylvester Parish
My Dear Parishioners, Notice any difference between the attitude of Paul in the second reading and that of the workers in the Matthew's Gospel? The workers grumble because the latecomers got the same pay as those who worked all day. Paul has worked for the Lord for years, yet he thinks it is better to keep working than to claim his reward of eternal life. The workers grumbled because the land-owner gave the same wages to the ones who on-ly worked for an hour. (You can imagine the picket signs: Vinedressers Local on Strike: Man-agement Unfair!) Matthew was referring to the Jews who had served God for centuries and now see newcomer Gentiles claiming equality in the church. They were complaining about God's generosity in reaching out to all peoples, not just the chosen few. God's generosity is the real point. Contrast that with Paul, who loves the Philippians so much that he is willing to put off his heavenly reward if he can help any more peo-ple come to Christ. That is the attitude that Jesus hopes for in all his disciples. We can care more about bringing Jesus to others than we do about our own comfort or even our lives. We can do this because we know the Lord's ways are not fair--they are more generous than we can imagine!
Keep smiling,

Dear Friends of St. Joseph Retreat Center,
I hope and pray that all of you are well as we progress to a somewhat safer stage of Covid 19.
Our empty Retreat Center has been missing all of you, and so have I and all the Staff. We think of you often, pray for you and hold you in our hearts.
It has been a long and quiet 6 months, and we are so sorry to tell you that it is necessary for us to extend the closure of SJRC in these still un-certain times. If all goes well and we feel it is safe, we are hoping to reopen in March, 2021. Help us pray that our dreams will become a reality.
All of the cancelled programs will be re-scheduled and of course some new ones will be added.
In the interim, we would like to offer a few sessions via Zoom. We will be sending another communication shortly with some possibilities in-cluding time, dates and fees. We will ask you to indicate if you are interested and able to partici-pate in this manner. To do so, go to: https://daughtersofdivinecharity.org/plans-for-reopening/
Thank God, that due to our quarantine, all of the Sisters have been free of the virus, so we want to continue to keep them safe and all of you safe, as well. We have not forgotten you...we do miss you and continue to pray for all of you and your loved ones. May God and St. Joseph continue to pro-tect each of you, your homes, our country and our world in these crucial times. Sincerely yours in Christ, Sister Josita DiVita, FDC
