$1,500 off of Tuition to Transfer Students*

Holy Family Catholic School is pleased to offer a Tuition Transfer Grant to any parishioner who transfers their child into grades 1-7 from any private*, public, charter or home school. This two-year grant, $1,000 in year one and $500 in year two, will be applied to offset the current school tuition.

Mrs. Turkowski, Ms. DelMas-tro, and their classes have been prepar-ing a special tribute in honor of all who serve and have served to protect our rights and freedom. Please join us for scripture readings, song, and prayer.

Buddies Form New Friendships

The Preschoolers were in store for a spe-cial treat when the 7th Grade class came down to the preschool room to read to them in the afternoon. The 7th Grade students read a variety of Halloween sto-ries to the delight of their preschool bud-dies. Both the preschoolers and the 7th Graders loved interacting with each other, enjoying a snack and making a new friend. They look forward to their next activity together in the near future!

Red Ribbon Week Celebration Red Ribbon Week was celebrated with special activities enjoyed by the students and staff of HFCS. This year’s theme for Red Ribbon Week was YOLO—You Only Live Once! Officer Joel Vargas of the Bensenville Police De-partment kicked off the festivities with a presentation to students about how the YOLO theme stresses the im-portance of staying away from drugs and other risky behav-iors. Throughout the week, there was a daily reflection on the life of a saint who through their dedication to Christ embodied the YOLO theme. Office Vargas and Deputy Chief Dooley joined us on Friday for our culminating ac-tivities, which included announcing contest winners. Each class participated in a door decorating contest, interpreting the YOLO theme in a unique and creative way. The 5th grade took the prize for their design incorporating emojis to

express their dreams about what they want to be-come. The 2nd grade won a prize for collecting the greatest number of non-perishable food items for the Bensenville and St. Joseph’s food pantries. Perhaps the most exciting event of the week was the staff vs. 8th grade volleyball game. What a match! Both teams won a game, but the 8th graders reigned victorious

when they defeated the staff in the 3rd game. Many thanks to Fr. Josh who helped the staff hold their own against the skilled students.

Pray that this will be a time of renewal and rededication of your role in the celebration of the Eu-charist.

INFANT MEMORIAL MASS: All families and individuals are welcome to attend this Mass remembering babies who have been lost through miscarriage, stillbirth, infant death, other pregnancy losses or early childhood death. It will be held at the Blanchette Catholic Center on Sunday, November 9, at 2:00 p.m. A special tree blessing ceremony will be held for family members. Please call if unable to attend, but wish a baby to be remembered.

ANNULMENT PROCESS IN-FORMATION DAY: Fr. Joseph Tapella, the Judicial Vicar of the Dioce-san Tribunal, and Mrs. Desirée Marciani, the Associate Director of The Office of Family Ministry, will conduct an annul-ment information seminar, on Saturday, November 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Blanchette Catholic Center. The annulment process will be explained. This day does not start the process but offers a friendly atmosphere to learn what annulment means and what is en-tailed in the process. Pre-register by No-vember 7. A $25 fee includes morning coffee, lunch, and a binder with handouts. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. Call ((815-838-5334)

Sacrament Procedures

Baptisms: Pre-baptism Class is required before your date will be set. Please register two to three months in advance.

Weddings: Spiritual Preparation begins at least SIX months in advance. Do not make your reservations until you have met with the pastor.

Sacrament of the Sick: First Friday of the month at 7:30 am.

Communion Visits: Call the Parish Office.

Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time – 06 November 2016

No game-playing. The Maccabees boys are clear today: even death by torture is not feared because life in heaven is next. The Sadducees, in trying to choose up sides, discover: who is married to whom in heaven is not a central question. Being in heaven is the central answer. With the love and hope and grace – all good gifts from God, Saint Paul tells us today – we await heaven. Not by playing games. But by good works and good words.
