St. Joseph Parish in Addison, IL is seeking candidates for employ-ment as an administrative assistant.

The administrative assistant will be responsible for staffing the front desk, answering phones, maintain-ing sacramental and parishioner records. Various other tasks as needed. Good communication and

interpersonal skills are important as well as the ability to work collaboratively. Candidates must have a de-sire to use their skills to support the mission of the church. Office experience is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher is required. Must be bilingual (English/ Spanish) as well as must be able to translate documents (English/Spanish) – (Spanish/English) Experience with Parish Data Systems software is desirable. This non-exempt position is part-time and not benefit-ed. The position is available as of September. Must be available Monday through Friday from 9AM – 4PM. And temporarily some evenings.

P artners on the Journey As many of you know, a sat-isfying marriage has huge benefits for your overall health and happiness, for the

security of your children and the welfare of the community. Like anything of real value, a successful marriage requires a conscious commit-ment to give the relationship the time, interest and effort it needs to remain strong. Part of that effort is taking the time to learn new insights and skills that have been proven to make marriages last. This “Partners on the Journey” enrich-ment series is intended to offer you these insights and skills. If you are newly mar-ried or married fifty years, you can been benefit from this program. This program attempts to combine a Catholic Christian understanding of mar-riage with practical knowledge gained in the research in the social sciences. It is meant to both inspire and equip couples to form more stable and satisfying rela-

tionships. It is designed to nourish cou-ples spiritually, intellectually and emo-tionally. Each meeting will begin with an opening prayer, a warm up question related to the theme of the session, a video presenta-tion, followed by an exercise to integrate the content of the presentation, a sugges-tion for homework, and a closing prayer. Each participant will have a booklet, which contains session materials and each couple will receive a copy of John Gott-man’s The Seven Principles for Making Mar-riage Work.

Our first meeting will be on Friday Sep-tember 22nd at 7 pm in the St Francis room of the Parish center. This would be a great “Date Night”, one that can en-hance your marriage and make it thrive.

Beginning Thursday, September 29th and continuing for 6 weeks we will look at the Afterlife as seen in the New Testa-ment. As Catholics, we profess to believe in the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. But what exact-ly does this mean? In this fundamental presentation, you will explore the origin, context, and meanings of the Christian beliefs about the afterlife. You will gain an understanding of the afterlife in the New Testament, exploring the words of Jesus, the Gospels, and the apostles Peter and Paul, and the visions in the Apoca-lypse of John. Professor Candida Moss, of the University of Notre Dame, will be our presenter via video. A Study guide will be available for everyone at no cost. We will meet in the Saint Francis room at 7pm. Please join us.

Twenty-Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time – 25 September 2016 An awful thought. A scary reality. I can be good tomorrow, we say. I can deal with that injustice next week, next month, next year, when the time is right, we say. The

poor and hungry can surely wait. Well, Amos and Luke say otherwise. God is filled to the brim with pardon and mercy, with compassion, they say. All people that God loves are bound together, they say. The truth is, it is possible to run out of time to do good, God says. Do not be indifferent! So,
