WHAT KIND OF MEDA INSTITUTION MIGHTDISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT & WHY?

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO IDENTIFY ANDCHOOSE THE CORRECT INSTITUTION? It is important to identify and choose the correct institution to create and distribute a film. The importance of this lies in every institute having a ‘hot spot’ or unique selling point which is what they earn fame and industry respect from. Being associated to a certain genre also allows an audience to become familiar with their style. Official statistics on this can be determined by the history of a particular institution – what movies they have made, the genre they mostly fall under, which ones succeed more than others (in terms of audience response and sales), and which genre out of the successful movies is most powerful, according to critics and demand in merchandise/screenings/etc.

The more movies that get talked about within an industry; the higher reputation the institution has. For obvious reasons, the response must be of a positive mind-set to ensure the reputation seems appealing. With social media the most wide-spread form of communication there is today, it is easy to share and view other’s opinions on films. Movies can even promote themselves directly through and/or the target audience, upping the awareness and familiarly of the industry’s products. The audience are the ones who witness the self-promotion of an industry, right at the beginning of any film. The audience are the ones who give it an overall reputation; critics are professionals but the public more than quadruple in quantity. Viewers are loyal and once they like a film distributed by a particular institution, they are more likely to go hang onto the idea of their style.

Having visually been informed of previous films supported by the same company the viewers will have a genuine idea on their first impressions on a new movie by that company – for example, countless positive reviews on already distributed movies increases the chance of an open-minded approach to new content.

I need to pick an institution hat has successful movies, satisfied customers and a strong reputation to evidence as to why I have chosen it.

WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE TODISTRUBUTE YOUR THRILLER & WHY?My group have chosen New Line Cinema to represent our thriller opening Insanity. NLC was founded in 1967.

Our reasons for choosing this institution is dominantly due to it’s success of the thriller genre – which is evident in the movies Se7en and The Butterfly Effect. Both are ranked of a high financial success; though those higher on the list are full of conventions inspired from these two successful films.

In general, NLC have been a well-established institution for many years and are still presently thriving in success. They choose to represent films of a high quality, as shown by their own Sex & The City, Ninja Turtles & others which have all raked in millions of dollars. Importantly, the most recent films have earned the highest amounts of profit. This is proof that NLC continue to change for the better rather than keep a standard style which ears the same amount at each content release.

WHAT BENEFITS WILL CHOOSING THISINSTITUTION HAVE ON YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT?New Line Cinema have caused a revelation in film history; evident in the famous names previously mentioned. Thinking about our opening as a replica of these successful movies, and similar, helps me to imagine a powerful and fresh concept, destined to inspire for generations to come. For example, Se7en motivated and continues to motivate talks amongst the public as well as new ideas the modern producers. Today right now in Media Studies these films are being analysed. As NLC were so successful in the distribution of a movie such as Sex & The City, I am confident that the same uphill process will apply to our movie too.

NLC have proved itself capable of deeming a movie’s maximum potential – and being that much of it’s content has succeeded greatly, it is more likely for ours to earn the same recognition and power. Though the main example of reason for this institution is Se7en, many other movies by the same company have made a large profit simply through taking concepts from Se7en – such as the title sequence with shaky credits.

Another benefit available to us would be a plan B power; in the scenario of someone favouring NLC, the would typically warm up to new content faster than if they have never seen a movie from them before. Film history is always influencing modern film.

It’s important for the audience to remembers things - New Line Cinema flows in the mind and on the tongue, the logo is simple and it is already famous. These traits allow an audience to recognize themselves as viewers of this particular institution and it’s films. The international mainstream audience lean toward anything famous, hence the idea of a ‘mainstream’ audience, thus there are two audiences it could achieve: general and target.
