Why I am completing this task• This task is important when evaluating as if my

production was to actually make it into the film market I would need a production and distribution company in order to make sure my film is viewed. Choosing the right company for my production is vital in order to make sure it achieves the highest box office. I have chosen these companies as I feel they will be the most accurate at distributing and producing my production if I were to make it full length instead of just for my AS media course, and show it through various platforms such as cinema, online streaming etc.

• We would chose the institutions that were most suited to our production via values and ethos as well as how wide the audience is.

Pathé

• Overall we chose this company to distribute our film. This is because it is more niche compared to more well known companies such as Lionsgate or Sony pictures. Similarly the distribution company is within the UK which would appeal more to our audiences. This company will play a vital role in getting our production from the tape to the cinema, as well as making sure it is okay for public viewing, and allowing audiences to see via various methods such as marketization.

• We also chose this company as it is particularly well known for its French heritage and France is closely linked to art which is the main theme of our production. For example The Mona Lisa and The Starry night are both paintings held within Paris/France linking to a very popular artistic culture.

Distribution Company

‘Slumdog Millionaire’ – A popular film distributed by Pathé

‘Mona Lisa’ – Leonardo Da Vinci 1503

Studio Canal

• Similarly, we chose Studio canal to produce our production as they are closely linked with the BFI who will fund the majority of our film. Studio canal also appeals to smaller audiences similar to Pathé. Studio canal mainly appeal to more British audiences. Also Studio Canal like to ‘introduce ideas’ which would be helpful to our film as it is new and interesting, something the thriller market has never seen before.
