Tampa Rejuvenation - “Your Health Our Passion”By Matthew Selby

Let’s face it, getting older has thisawful little side effect of aging yourbody. As hormones deplete, our skinbegins to sag and wrinkle, our sexdrive declines, we gain unexplainedweight, we have sleep issues, and ourdrive for life lessens. We cannot con-trol time as it passes each day, but withadvancements in technology and med-ical research, we now can slow downthe negative effects of the agingprocess in a safe and very effective way.

Tampa Rejuvenation, with its clos-est of 4 clinics located at 13648 WestHillsborough Ave. in Tampa, separatesthemselves with their integrative ap-proach to medicine. The physicians atTampa Rejuvenation let their work andhappy customer testimonials speak forthemselves.

Patient Nancy H. writes, “TampaRejuvenation helped me lose a veryneeded 30 pounds! My primary doc-tor was very impressed that I am nowmuch healthier and no longer a dia-betic risk. The HCG diet is healthy, safe and fast. The staff is great! Theyare all knowledgeable, courteous andhelpful (the Doctor, the Nutritionist,

medical assistants, counselors, officeadministrators). They monitor every-thing from beginning to end and willhelp at any time. I have also nowlearned how to eat healthier. Betweenthis and the diet, I will be keeping theweight off. I feel so much better, healthier and confident. It was one ofthe best things I've done!”

The staff at Tampa Rejuvenation isdetail-oriented and patient-specific intheir treatment – it’s not cookie cuttermedicine. The science is out there; thetreatment is available; but finding theright physicians for you can make allthe difference in the world.

The physicians at Tampa Rejuve-nation are unique – they left the mod-ern tunnel-vision style of medicinebehind. They understand that manytimes conventional medicine is de-signed by “BIG-PHARMA“ to relievesymptoms and sometimes only masksthose symptoms to make them bear-able. I don’t know about you, but Isure don’t want to settle for just bear-able symptoms of anything.

At Tampa Rejuvenation thephysicians honed in their skills withonly one goal in mind – to fix theproblem, not hide it. While interview-

ing the founderof Tampa Reju-venation, BrettMarkowitz, thesimple premiseof going to sleepeach night andfeeling goodabout what histeam was doingis clearly at theforefront of hisbusiness goalsand morals. Heand his staff arepassionate abouttheir patients andseeing improve-ments in theirhealth. It’s clearlysomething theyrefuse to waiver from.

Since each patient is different, with their expertise in this field of in-tegrative medicine of anti-aging, thephysicians not only focus on the labwork, but they listen to symptoms andfocus on their goals when designing acustomized treatment plan using bioidentical hormones and treatingweight issues.

The physicians at Tampa Rejuve-nation focus more on quality thanquantity; they want a patient commit-ted to their health; not a patient that isjust interested in taking a magic pill andhas unrealistic expectations – that’s afantasy. The reality is it has to be acomplete change in lifestyle. That’swhy the physicians at Tampa Rejuvena-tion devised their year-long 4-DLongevity Plan (D-Diet “Lose up to

4-D Longevity PlanTampa Rejuvenation Wellness

Center’s physicians believe in what theycall a “4D Longevity” plan. The 4 D’sconsist of DIET, DAILY HOR-MONES, your unique DNA, andDETOX. If you follow this plan, you'regoing to be successful. It’s that easy.

The Diet is specially designed foreach patient individually based upontheir DNA. The physicians run bloodwork on the patient to determine whatkind of diet works best for their ge-

netic makeup. It’s science at work foryou, and it really is incredible. It takesthe “fad” diets and the guessing out ofthe equation. You finally find out whatfoods you need to eat for your specificbody. You can even find out whatfoods to completely stay away fromdue to allergies and sensitivities youmay not even know you had. Thedaily hormone aspect of this plan issimple. You don’t need to take abunch of pills, injections or topicalmedications anymore. Your hormonetherapy is only once every 3-6 months(depending on whether you are maleor female) via bio-identical hormonepellets inserted into the fat just belowthe skin. It’s virtually painless andtakes only a few minutes.

What are the benefits ofHormone Therapy?

More and more parents are rec-ognizing the importance of the earlyyears to their children’s success in ele-mentary school and beyond. Considerthis: the most active time of brain de-velopment occurs before age five.Strong neural connections formedduring this critical time are establishedby the experiences children have withtheir environment. The quality ofthose early interactions determineshow children continue to learn andform relationships, strongly influenc-ing their future success and happiness.

Research confirms that nurturingguidance and attention to every aspectof development in the early years helpchildren develop compassion, confi-dence and a love of learning, in addi-tion to competence and academicskills. These capabilities are easy totake for granted, but can make all thedifference in how children respond toschool and life beyond the classroom.

Primrose Schools has more than300 accredited, private preschools na-tionwide, and provides a balanced ap-proach to school readiness – awell-rounded preparation in basic con-

cepts and acquisition of social skills –that gives children the foundation fora future filled with promise.

“School readiness is essential to achild’s success in elementary schooland beyond,” said Anna Hurst, Fran-chise Owner of Primrose School ofLutz. “Children who receive a qualitypreschool, pre-K and kindergarten ed-ucation develop into well-rounded in-dividuals prepared for learning and forlife.”

At Primrose Schools, “readiness”means more than just learning how toadd and spell. It means learning howto think critically, use mathematicalconcepts, share and show self-control– skills that support a positive transi-tion to elementary school. PrimroseSchools supports the development ofsocial and life skills, as well as executivefunction. Trinity Family Physicians Announces the First Recipientof the Tampa Bay Making A Difference Award

Dr. Amir Shirmohammad and Dr.Stephanie Eldridge appreciate thegreat response to the inaugural TrinityFamily Physicians’ Tampa Bay MakingA Difference Award. Trinity FamilyPhysicians announced the Award inNeighborhood News & Lifestylespublications in July and now thephysicians are excited to announce thefirst recipient of the Tampa Bay Mak-ing A Difference Award. Dr. Shirmo(as his patients affectionately call him)presented Jim Carow with a beautifulgift basket donated from partneringsponsor Grille 54 that was filled withwine, cheese, crackers and of course, agift certificate to enjoy a delicious din-ner at Grille 54. Nominated for hisvolunteer work with the IWork pro-gram at Idlewild Baptist Church inLutz, Jim Carow makes a difference inthe lives of others here in Tampa Bay!

Dr. Shirmo met with Jim Carowand his wife Mary to learn more aboutthe volunteer work they do and heshared the reason that he and Dr. El-dridge created the Tampa Bay MakingA Difference Award. “My wife and Iwanted to start a program where we

could give back for a worthwhilecause,” said Dr. Shirmo. “Dr. Eldridgesaid right away, ‘Why don’t we giveout an award to people in our com-munity who are making a difference inthe daily lives of others?’ We bothloved the idea!”

Dr. Eldridge and Dr. Shirmogrew up in Tampa Bay, fell in love inTampa Bay, went away to earn medicaldegrees together and then came backto the area to open a family medicalpractice and raise their own family. They look for ways to promote goodin the community they love andthough it has been a busy time for thehusband-and-wife team – Dr. Eldridgejust gave birth to their third daughterin August and Dr. Shirmo volunteersas one of the team physicians for hisalma mater Jesuit High School – theystill found a way to honor others whoare making a difference with TrinityFamily Physicians’ Tampa Bay MakingA Difference Award.

There were some exceptionalnominees and it wasn’t an easy deci-sion for Trinity Family Physicians butthey kept coming back to one email

with a nomi-nee whoseemed to ex-emplify every-thing that theTampa BayMaking A Dif-ference Awardis meant torepresent.

WendyMcDonnellwrote, “Iwould like tonominate JimCarow foryour TampaBay Making aDifferenceAward. ing to find the best career fit for eachindividual. Without IWork and Jim,there would be more hopeless peopleunemployed in our community, that’swhy he should win your next award.”

Jim Carow Makes ADifference in Tampa Bay!

Jim Carow makes a lasting dif-ference in the lives of others byteaching them invaluable job-seekingskills, but he is humble about his in-volvement with Idlewild BaptistChurch’s IWork program, saying, “Idon’t do this alone! We have phe-nomenal volunteers who have beenhelping from day one.”

The IWork program was startedmore than six years ago. One of thepastors came to Jim, who had a longcareer in recruiting for the healthcareindustry, and asked him to help start aprogram that would focus on helpingpeople who were actively seeking ajob. While IWork does not find jobsfor people, it does offer fellowshipalong with a workshop that teachesnetworking and interviewing skills.Pastor Phillip Hanes said of JimCarow, “He is a fine man and there isa great team of volunteers who workwith him. We are very thankful for thisprogram, which hosts 25 to 60 peopleevery Monday night.”

Jim can’t say enough about the

volunteers (some first came to thegroup seeking help) who put somuch heart into the IWork programthat it has morphed into much morethan a workshop. It is fellowship andcaring. “When we had our first meet-ing, we thought it would be aboutstrategy, networking, Linked In…andwe do all that, but it is so muchmore. The methods we teach workat all levels. We have all kinds of peo-ple from physicians to 19-year-oldswanting to find summer jobs. We justgive people hope.”

He recalls the early planning ofIWork with a laugh, “When they saidwe have to feed people, I said, ‘Do wereally have to? Does every Baptistfunction have to include feeding peo-ple? Can’t we just teach them?’ Butthey were right. I realized early onthat for some, this was their only mealof the day. We’ve got stories that willmelt your heart and we’ve got storiesthat will send you to the moon.”

The IWork program has built in acouple of traditions. Every year theyhave an “Office Party” ChristmasParty and put Publix gift cards underthe tree. Jim recalls one young womanwho had lost her car and was losingher house; she was depressed and al-most didn’t come to IWork’s officeparty when she got the voicemail butdecided to ride her bike. Jim recalled,

“She burst into tears upon openingher card and finding that she had $25for food. She said, ‘This will last me aweek!’ And then a man walked over toher and handed her his Publix giftcard.” Remarkable!

Another tradition happenedpurely by accident. Sharon had beenlooking for a job for two years whenshe decided to go to IWork on Mon-day nights. After a couple of meetings, she got a job and to celebrate, boughta cake with her first paycheck andbrought it in to share with the group.Someone brand new to the group thatnight got a job the same week andthought it was what everyone did sohe showed up with a cake the nextweek. A tradition of celebration wasborn, and hope carries on at IWork.

Dr. Shirmo asked Jim Carow ifthere was anything he’d like to seehappen from the exposure of winningthe Tampa Bay Making A DifferenceAward. His answer was much thesame as Pastor Hanes – that otherchurches and organizations will offerthe same types of support for thosesincerely seeking gainful employment.Jim pointed out that there are otherchurches in the area that have similarprograms. Log on to Idlewild.org formore information about the IWorkprogram at Idlewild Baptist Church.

career as a board certified employmentlaw specialist. Robert noted the firm hasrepresented large companies andsmaller businesses in employment dis-putes for years and adding an attorneywith true specialization in the employ-ment law area was something he haddesired for many years.

In addition, Robert noted thelong time contributions of partnersR.G. “Mack” McCormick, who hasbeen with the firm since 2001 andwho, along with Robert, representsnational floor cleaning companies andlarge malls in premises liability claimsand been to trial many times withRobert. “We have fought many battlestogether and there is no one else Iwould rather go to trial with thanMack. In a very similar way, our part-ner Melissa Krepps has been throughnumerous trials with Chuck Bavol. She is the guru of federal court proce-dure and has successfully argued at the11th Circuit Court of Appeals.”

Robert says, “not all of your read-ers are a general counsel or risk managerof a large company seeking representa-tion in commercial or tort cases. Buteveryone in your audience will probably

need a lawyer at some point in theirlives.” In 2006 Bleakley added ChristinaHebert as a partner in order to providelegal services to local businesses andindividuals in areas other than justlitigation. Prior to joining the firm,Christina gained experience working ina small Tampa firm where she was apartner and handled corporate workand business transactions, guardianshipand probate matters as well as draftedwills and formulated estate plans.

Christina, who has 20 years ofexperience as a lawyer, prides herselfon being able to provide face to facerepresentation with clients. In thatregard, the location of The BleakleyBavol Law Firm’s offices to surround-ing neighborhoods in Carrollwood,North Tampa, and southern PascoCounty has been a bonus. This allowsmany clients convenient access for faceto face consultation with their lawyer,a lost art among too many in the legalprofession. At Bleakley Bavol, Christinahas continued to focus her practiceprimarily in the areas of estate plan-ning, probate, wills and trusts, as wellas corporate law, business formationand transactions.

opened the firm as a solo practice inApril 2000. Originally located in theBank of America Building in down-town Tampa, the firm’s early practicefocused on defending trucking compa-nies and larger business in auto, prem-ises and workers compensation claims. However, almost from its inception, the firm began a 15 year trend of or-ganic growth adding clients, new linesof business, and experienced attorneys.Today the firm employs 13 attorneyswith further growth still planned. In2008 the firm re-located from down-town to its current location near thecorner of Florida and Bearss Avenue.

Strategic GrowthRobert is accompanied by his part-

ner Chuck Bavol, who joined the firm inMarch 2011, transitioning the namefrom The Bleakley Law Firm to TheBleakley Bavol Law Firm. “When Chuckjoined in 2011 he brought in sophistica-

tion, experience and excellent trial strate-gies and technological tools that reallyadvanced our practice and allowed us toprovide even better services to ourclients, particularly in the area of litiga-tion,” says Robert. Chuck is nationallyrecognized as an outstanding litigatorwho has served as national trial counselfor Dow Corning and regularly handleshigh exposure product liability, medicaldevice, medical malpractice, and con-struction cases.

In 2012 Robert’s long-time friendand fellow Avila neighbor, Rob Grace, joined the firm. Bleakley describes Graceas a “throw-back”. He says, “Rob hasover 24 years of experience practicing lawand is one of the states’ most respectedworkers compensation litigators. He is a‘lawyers lawyer’ – professional, ethical, and one of the hardest working attorneysI know.” Grace leads a team of experi-enced workers compensation defense at-torneys that include partners DaveLamont and Crystal Corry.

In 2015 the firm added northTampa resident Kristen Allman, whospent the majority of her 28 year legal

In addition, Robert noted Christinais an added bonus to the complex com-mercial litigation team at Bleakley Bavol.“Ronald Denman joined our firm in2014 and, like Chuck, brought some-thing new to our firm. Our firm hadalways had a commercial litigation pres-ence but Ron really brings our commer-cial practice to entirely new level, expanding it to include complex probateand guardianship litigation. Ron is aformer prosecutor and general counsel

of a large corporation. He cut his teeth tryingcommercial cases downin Miami and through-out the south Floridaarea. Fortunately, when he arrived,we had Christina’scommercially orientedbrain to lend to Ron’steam and it has workedout very well.”

Estate Planning,Wills And Trusts

Whether you wantto do a simple will ortrust to provide for thedisposition of yourpersonal belongingsand other assets andproperty or are lookingfor business succession

planning, Christina will offer wellthought out advice and will assist youwith your estate planning needs..

“At some point in their life, eachand every person is going to need a willand I am here to help with that,” saysChristina. “I will take the time to explainyour options based upon your needs andgoals and help to plan out all the details.”

If you have assets, and have yet toset up a will or trust, I think it’s time you

come and talk to Christina. No matterwhat your situation may be, Christinamay be able to help! “Having a will is soimportant,” says Christina. “You want tomake sure your assets go to the peopleand in the manner which you want themto go. If you die without a will or a trust, your assets will pass according to the in-testacy laws, which may not be consistentwith your wishes.”

Having a will is especially impor-tant if you have children who are mi-nors. Something people don’t oftenconsider is the mechanism in whichtheir children will inherit their property.“When minor children are involved, it isusually a good idea to have trust provi-sions to provide for the distribution ofthe money to children over time and ininstallments; otherwise the childrencould have complete control of themoney when they turn 18. The use oftrust provisions allows you to decide atwhat age the child will receive moneyand the amount they will receive. Trustprovisions are particularly importantwhen your children are young becauseyou do not yet know what their matu-rity level with be and whether they willbe able to handle a significant amountof wealth at the time of your death.”

From small family run businesses tolarge corporations, Christina has a lot offamiliarity with estate planning from acorporate perspective as well, and hashelped many business owners plan forthe succession of their business.

Christina says, “I enjoy meetingwith clients and getting to know themand finding out what it is they wantto achieve. Building a strong relation-ship is really important to me. Theyneed to be able to trust you and haveconfidence in the legal services youare providing them.”

Maybe you already have a will inplace, but your situation has changed, such as you have recently gotten a di-vorce. Did you remember to changeyour beneficiary designation? This is acommon mistake that many people for-get to do. Your will does not determinewhere all of your assets will go, the bene-ficiary designation controls that. So if youforget to change that your assets can endup going to somebody that you didn’twant it to go to – such as your ex spouse.

There are so many things to takeinto account when estate planning, sowhy not talk to the professionals atBleakley Bavol so you know it will gettaken care of properly!

Trust Is The Key To Success Bleakley credits the firm’s focus on

building trust with its clients as the rea-son it has been successful. “Trust is soimportant; the client has to know thattheir lawyer is looking out for them,” says

Robert. “Most people start with a pre-conceived notion that lawyers are onlylooking out for their own best interests, but we go above and beyond to provethat we put our clients’ needs first andwill always do what is in their best inter-ests. We preach to our new lawyers atevery monthly meeting that we musttake every opportunity to build trust withour client. In the end, if we can buildthat bond of trust with our client, wherethey know, because we have alreadyproven it, that we are looking out for theclient, we will be successful.”

With an experienced roster of at-torneys, The Bleakley Bavol Law Firmdraws on its vast experience to adviseits clients of the significant costs andrisks of litigation. But with each legalmatter, there is also a possible solution.Robert says, “What I like best aboutpracticing law is finding the solution.Sometimes there is no good solution,so sometimes my job is to find the leastbad solution – a way out. All of our at-torneys are really good at understand-ing the problem, finding the bestsolution for the client and developing aplan to get them there.”

Firm Administrator Jayme Bluffs-tone has been with the firm since 2004.She adds a different perspective on thegrowth and success of the firm. “We havegreat attorneys and an incredible staffsupporting them. There is a lot oflongevity in not only our attorneys butalso our staff; our original legal secretaryhas been here with us for 15 years – sinceRobert opened the firm. I think that saysa lot about the environment that Robertand Chuck foster here. This firm is familyand we grow it that way. We are very par-ticular about the people we bring in be-cause that is a representation of who weare. Over20 million Americans suffer from thebreathing disorder known as SleepApnea. This is not con-ducive to a good night’s rest, butmore than that, Sleep Apnea can bedangerous for your overall health.Traditionally, Sleep Apnea has beentreated with CPAP machines or sur-gery, but many people don’t want togo to such uncomfortable or drasticmeasures to correct their sleep disor-der.

Dr. Nelson provides an alternativeto CPAP therapy and surgery with adifferent type of oral appliance therapy(OAT). His alternative to the CPAP isto custom-fit patients with an oral ap-pliance, such as the SomnoMed,which is a small acrylic device that fitsover the upper and lower teeth align-ing your jaw in order to keep your air-way open.
