A foster child may not share a bedroomwith any adult nor can the adult moveout of their bedroom and sleep on thecouch to make room.

Does My Home Need to Pass In-spection?

It is important that children live ina safe and clean environment. Duringthe home study process, you will beasked to have a health inspection donein your home. Your home must be freeof potential dangers and risks. Youmust have working smoke detectorsand fire extinguishers and, if you havepets, they must be current with vacci-nations and not present a danger tochildren in your home.

The way we feel, the way wethink, the way we heal, the way welook is all dictated by our body’shormones. If you’ve had difficultylosing weight, often feel sluggish, havelost your sex drive or are starting tosee signs of aging, Tampa Rejuvena-tion can help.

Stop the NegativeSigns of Aging

“As you get older, both men andwomen begin to lose levels of estrogenand testosterone,” says Gina Pastore,ARNP-MSN, board certified anti-aging specialist. “Undiagnosed thyroidconditions can also cause a hormonalimbalance. With bio-identical hor-mone replacement therapy, we run afull screen of lab tests on a blood orsaliva sample to determine if hormonelevels have declined. A compoundpharmacy then creates hormones that

are identical to the ones found withinyour body. The purpose is to establishhormonal balance, which will help youregain your energy, stamina, even yourbody’s ability to lose weight. As hor-mones start to rebalance, some pa-tients are able to cut back and in somecases even stop other medications suchas blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetesand sleep medications.”

Depending upon the patients’lifestyles, methods of administrationcan be customized to a cream, trochee, capsule, injection or even pellets.

“There is no reason to accept thenegative effects of aging,” says TampaRejuvenation client Carol. “At 35years old I began noticing changes inmy body and the way I felt. I gained20 pounds, was always tired, and mydesire for sex disappeared. I went toseveral doctors and they told me Iwas normal and that what I was feel-ing is part of normal aging. I havebeen on Tampa Rejuvenation’s amaz-

ing program for 3 months and lost18 pounds and feel great. I am backto my revitalized self.”

Tampa Rejuvenation client Allensays, “Who would have ever thought aman would need hormone replace-ment therapy at 38. I knew I had lostsomething. When I read the symptomsof Andropause, I thought they weretalking about me. Hormone replace-

ment therapy has changed my life.”Gina says that hormones can be-

come imbalanced at any age and thatshe sees patients as young as 20, andup to their late 70s. She says, “Hor-monal imbalance can be caused byaging, genetics, lifestyle factors, stressor even trauma/injury to the bodythat can affect the endocrine glandsthat produce or regulate hormones.

We areall really one big family here! We alllove these kids and we love what wedo!” It’s the Karnabys and their dedi-cation and commitment to providing

a higher level of educational excellencethat has parents at this location reallytalking. Combined with a remarkablegroup of teachers and staff membersthat share the same vision, DiscoveryPoint Suncoast Crossings is trulysomething special.

Parent Joy Rumore said, “Icouldn’t imagine my kids anywhereelse. We absolutely LOVE everyteacher and staff member. I feel atpeace knowing my kids are in such asafe, fun, protective environment &they are cared for 100 percent.”

Before owning their own school,Salim Karnaby used to be a police offi-cer in New York City, and his beautifulwife Andrea had a career in visual mer-chandising, as well as a background inpreschool care. After having four chil-dren of their own, who all attend pro-grams at Discovery Point SuncoastCrossings, they felt a stirring to createa school that would go far beyond therealm of a typical daycare. Their goalwas to enrich the lives of the childrenthere, all the while providing themwith access to educational resourcesand tools that give them a chance tofurther develop their little personali-ties!

Discovery Point Suncoast Cross-ings is convenient to Pasco and Hills-borough Counties, and offersincredible educational programs in-cluding infant care, preschool, andVPK. More than a daycare, DiscoveryPoint Suncoast Crossings offers beforeand after school care, enrichment pro-grams and summer camps. What’smore, the owners are even opening aprivate school for school-aged stu-dents that will be adjacent to the pre-school called Christian Crossings.Scheduled to open this fall, ChristianCrossings will give their many studentsthe opportunity to continue to grow

and learn together.

Raising the Bar!Discovery Point Suncoast Cross-

ings is an Apple Accredited Centerthat has won the coveted “High Five”School of Excellence award three yearsin a row, making them the top Discov-ery Point Center in the entire nation. Also earning the distinction of being a“President’s Award” winner, theKarnabys have been raising the barsince they began. Thinking outside thebox sometimes, they’ve come up withsome really unique ideas to encouragestudents to be excited about educa-tion. One of the things that the stu-dents like most is using theSMARTboard, which widens the class-room’s walls to include the entireworld.

Recently, the Karnabys had the

opportunity to buy the building adja-cent to Discovery Point’s daycare, andthey did so in order to add their “VPKAchievement Center.” Interviewingthe children, parents and teachers, they created an amazing environmentaimed at learning! They added uniqueelements like reading nooks, portablescience labs, an organic garden, an in-teractive lobby that looks like it’s rightoff the set of a Disney television show, and even lockers! It’s very possiblethat your children will be having somuch fun while you’re at work thatthey may not want to come home atthe end of the day!

Elena Hatton says, “Amazing fa-cilities, owners and teachers! They arelike our second family. The dedicationthat they provide makes me proud tosend my son there.”

In the heart of Odessa, you willfind a sprawling, 75-acre farm that isdedicated to the sustainable care ofalpaca. Beautiful, peaceful and docile -the alpaca is an animal with Peruvianroots dating back to the Incan Indians.Once hunted, almost to extinction, theInca Indians realized the wealth andmany uses of alpaca fleece, which ledto the animal’s preservation. Today,Golden Spirit Alpaca Ranch continuesthe tradition of preserving alpaca forthe utilization of fleece through dedi-cated care and compassion. GoldenSpirit Alpaca Ranch is home to 185alpacas that have been hand-selectedand raised with the utmost care. Each

animal, from the lovable babies to themothers and herd-sires, is treated withlove, quality care and complete com-passion, which is why Golden Spirit isa leader in alpaca farming.

Ranch owners Brenda and FrankCrum began Golden Spirit AlpacaRanch in 2006. The couple begantheir ranch with just a few animals, butBrenda’s drive and passion for learningsoon led to a bigger journey that hasbecome Golden Spirit Alpaca Ranch.Brenda says, “We wanted to get in-volved with an animal that would offera sustainable product, while beingunique and personable. The alpaca is avery independent animal with varyingpersonality traits. Understanding eachanimal’s unique personality has helpedus build the framework of GoldenSpirit. From the very beginning ofworking in the alpaca industry, I em-barked on a journey of learning withFrank. We consulted with businessleaders and veterinarians, researchedfeed and nutrition, and dove in to getour hands dirty. We soaked in as muchinformation as possible by continu-ously attending shows and gettinginvolved in industry associations. Thetime we spent learning from the ani-mals and other leaders in the industryhelped us with our ranch so much, which is why I now spend a lot of timesharing what I have learned with otheralpaca enthusiasts. We are here to pre-

serve the health of our animals, focuson quality fleece production and toshare the knowledge we gain with thecommunity.”

Over the past eight years, GoldenSpirit has accumulated many awardsfor animal excellence, due to their con-tinued perseverance of high caliber ani-mals. During alpaca shows, the animalsare judged based upon fleece quality, color, proper gait, structure, reproduc-tion ability and other criteria. Whenshowing alpaca fleece, judges base theirawards on six different grades, whichrange from coarse to ultra fine. GoldenSpirit Alpaca Ranch has won blueribbon awards, competitive bannersand more for fleece, structure andanimal behavior. Brenda says, “We

breed our alpacas based upon qualityof animals that will produce a nicefiber. I am very content selling ourproduct to weavers and spinners. Ourretail store has some amazing all-nat-ural fiber products that are not onlybeautiful, but sustainable and organic. The alpaca is truly an amazing animal;we are able to utilize 95 percent ofshorn fiber from each alpaca.”

At Golden Spirit Alpaca Ranch, the goal is to know, study, monitor andenjoy each animal. Golden Spirit’sdedication to the wellbeing and statureof each animal allows them to offer thefinest available animals on the marketwith: solid conformation, superiordensity, amazing fineness, fleece uni-formity, second-to-none presence and

unparalleled genetics. The qualitiesmentioned are what make GoldenSpirit Alpaca Ranch the best place tobuy, breed or board when it comes toalpaca.

Many people buy an alpaca fromGolden Spirit and board there. Brendaexplained to me that others will buy analpaca as an alternative to a family dog.“They can make wonderful compan-ions and teach responsibility to kids, without the hassle of an inside pet. Abit of land, the proper protection and alot of love are a few things an alpacaneeds to become a family pet,” saysBrenda. “They are relatively easy tomaintain with the proper knowledgeand care.”

In addition to boarding, breeding

and selling alpaca,Golden Spirit Al-paca Ranch has aretail store that willsoon be expanding.I was able to touchthe quality of prod-uct sold at GoldenSpirit and feltamazed at the soft-ness and warmth ofthe jackets, shawlsand scarves. Fromknit toys made

from alpaca fleece to rugs, purses, scarves, hats, socks and outer wear, there is really no limit to what can bemade from the amazingly soft anddurable fleece of the alpaca. Brendaand Frank are in the process of ex-panding the retail selection of theranch in a few months time and bothare looking forward to offering thecommunity a chance to experience thewonders of alpaca clothing and materi-als. Shorn alpaca fleece can be dyed toget the colors you want, so if you arelooking for an all-natural fiber rug ortype of material, Golden Spirit can ac-commodate your needs. The ranchuses natural organic dyes that are envi-ronmentally friendly, so you can feel

good about making a conscientiouspurchase that is not only sustainable, but beautiful and well crafted as well.
