Fromm thee Deskk off Fr.. Jayy

Time always seems to pass so quickly. They say as we get older time speeds up but it’s likely life just get busier and more hectic as we age.I’m so grateful to all of you for your warm welcome over these past months as I settle in. I’m most grateful for your patience and kindness. Now that we are fully into the Fall, Religious Education has begun and there is a sense of normalcy coming back into our lives. God is so good! With a sense of normalcy comes even more hectic schedules. We all need to make sure that time is set aside for God and prayers. Let’s keep praying for one another as we meander through the course of life.

Peace and Blessings,Fr. Jay

Update on Blessed Sacrament Lift

The lift at Blessed Sacrament is unable to be repaired, and will have to be replaced. We secured two bids for the work, and the parish Finance Council met last week and approved a contract with Garaventa, the company who provided the lift at St. Margaret’s. The price tag for this job will run a little less than $45,000. We hope to be gin work in November, and be finished by Christmas.

A big Thank You to Tom Swanson, who spearheaded the vendor search. His experience from working on the lift at St. Margaret’s has proven invaluable, and generous donation of his time is truly a blessing to our Collaborative. We also want to thank the members of the Finance Council, for their time and support for the project.

And we hope that our parishioners will consider a donation for this unexpected expense. Saugus pa-rishioners have always stepped up in the past, and we are asking that you do so again.

As we know from our experience at St. Margaret’s, it is so important for everyone to have access to their parish church.

Please consider a donation to this project, regardless of which parish you attend.

BABY BOTTLE DRIVE “A Woman’s Concern“ Baby Bottle Campaign Our churches are participating in a Baby Bottle Campaign to support “A Woman’s Concern, -Your Options Medical.” We started October 2nd and for the rest of October individuals and families will have the opportunity to respond to the issue of Life. We will be handing out Baby Bottles or a donation envelope for you to take home, fill with cash, checks, and change and bring back to the church October 31st. Your financial support will help to make services available free of cost to those who are in need and guidance in the fight for life! If you decide to make a check out to a “Your Options Medical” place it in a bottle. Bottles are available in the front of the church. **DUE TO VIRUS CONCERNS, PLEASE WIPE OFF YOUR BABY BOTTLE WITH A DISINFECTANT WIPE BEFORE PLACING IT IN THE COLLECTION BOX. THANK YOU!!!***

Mass of Remembrance Mass of Remembrance, Saturday, November 20th: Each year during the month of November, the liturgical calendar affords us the opportunity to remember those who have gone before us in death. In anticipation of this special time, our Collaborative Community has set aside time for families and friends, who have suffered the loss of a loved one, to gather together to remember, to heal, to celebrate and to be with others. Please join us on Saturday, November 20th, at 1:00 p.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church. The names of those who died during the year, October 1, 2020-September 30, 2021, will be read during the liturgy. If you have someone whose name we do not have, who was not buried from Blessed Sacrament or St. Margaret, who died this year and whose name you would like read, please email Dottie at [email protected]. or call him at the Collaborative Offices, 781-233-2497. Please join us for the reception immediately following the liturgy in the Parish Hall. Help Needed: Can you minister to those in our community who are grieving? We are in need of baked goods for the reception after Mass. We are counting on your support of this annual Collaborative activity. Please leave baked goods in Blessed Sacrament Parish Hall anytime after 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021.

Page 8: Given that we are all God’s children, everyone is welcome ...

All parishes are mandated to have clearly marked, clearly communicated, and clearly enforced areas of the Church for people who want to wear masks and be sitting only near people who are wearing masks. Pastors are urged to encourage (but not require) all participants in Parish activities to wear masks. Priests, deacons, and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion should wear masks during the distri-bution of Communion and should disinfect their hands prior to the distribution. Pastors should clearly communicate the state advisory that all unvaccinated people are advised to wear masks indoors. Many municipalities within the Archdiocese of Boston are now requiring all people, regardless of vaccination status, to wear masks indoors in public places. If the local community has that

requirement, the parishes in that community must comply. Note that in the City of Boston, houses of worship have been exempted from that mandate. Parishes in the City of Boston are encouraged, but not required, to mandate masks. Regarding Faith Formation

At this time parishes are encouraged to delay or suspend in-person gatherings for faith formation and try until after October 1, when hopefully the spread of COVID in the state will have abated.

In parishes that do hold in-person gatherings for faith formation and youth ministry between now and all participants are required to wear masks, as long as they are at least five years old. Masks are not required of children under 2 and are at the discretion of the parents of children aged 2 to 5. In any case, we encourage parishes to continue to offer on-line faith formation and youth ministry opportunities and/or to make use of parish and diocesan supported home based programs such s Project Nazareth. Parishes will not be allowed to require in-person attendance at faith formation and youth ministry programming this year as a condition for receiving First Holy Communion or Confirmation or for any other reason. Regarding Reporting If a parish staff member, or a priest or deacon, is diagnosed with COVID, the Archdiocese of Boston must be notified immediately, through the [email protected] email address. The parish will be instructed in who must quarantine, and how communication with the parish to be handled. If a parishioner reports having attended a Mass and then testing positive for COVID very soon after, an announcement should be made on the parish website, not disclosing any information about the parishioner, but informing the parish that a person was at the Mass who then tested positive for COVID. This information can be found at http://rcabrisk.org. Regarding Vaccinations: The Archdiocese of Boston, following the example of the Cardinal and the Holy Father, continues to urege vaccination as the most effective way to bring this pandemic under control and keep families safe.
