Refugees celebrate victory of Modi, defeat of Madan

JAMMU, May 17:Refugees from Pak OccupiedJammu and Kashmir todayorganised a rally to celebratevictory of BJP especiallyNarendra Modi and defeat ofCongress-NC coalition candi-date from Jammu-Poonch LokSabha constituency MadanLal Sharma here today.

A large number ofrefugees, originally hailingfrom Chhamb, Deva Batala,Mirpur, Kotli, Muzaffarbad,Palandari and Bagh areas ofPak held Jammu and Kashmir,under the banner of Jammuand Kashmir PoJK Refugee

Front -1947, 1965, 1971assembled at ExhibitionGround near Press Club hereand organised a massive vic-

tory rally. President of theorganization Rachhpal SinghChib was leading.

Besides him, several sen-ior leaders of the organisationincluding senior vice presi-dent, Sham Singh, vice presi-dents Krishna Chib, Ch AjitSingh and Jaswant Singh alsoaddressed the gathering andcelebrated the victory of BJPcandidates, Jugal KishoreSharma and Dr Jitendra Singhand party's Prime Ministerialcandidate Narendra Modi.They also celebrated thedefeat of Congress-NC coali-tion candidate Madan LalSharma and claimed that itwas result of denial of sup-port to Madan Lal by refugee

voters whose number is nearlyten lakhs in Jammu, Samba,Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch.They also distributed sweetsand raised slogans in supportof Modi.

Mr Chib while addressingrally described the defeat ofCong-NC candidate as victoryof refugees who categoricallyrejected them for befoolingover ten lakh refuges for thelast over five to six decades.The Congress leaders, MPsand even PCC presidentbefooled the refugees andused them as vote bank. Theyhave stabbed them at the back.Even some agents within therefugees struck secret dealwith them by installing candi-date to contest elections andthen back tracked. Such ele-ments stood exposed. Therefugees have understoodtheir designs. Mr Chib,Krishna Chib vice presidentSham Lal Choudharyappealed the refugees toreject such black sheep within the refugees who are com-promising the interests ofrefugees for their personalgains.

They strongly demandedthat Section 370 be removedso that refugees could get jus-tice. They described NC,Congress and even PDP dead-ly against refugees andclaimed that abrogation of370 was must and BJP mustseriously think over this tem-porary provision.

SFC becomes eligible for refinance from SIDBIRather for bridging gap between

SRINAGAR, May 17: Withthe achieving of positive networth of Rs.25.01 crore at theend of March this year againstthe negative net worth of Rs.104.58 crore at the end of March-2009, the J&K State FinancialCorporation (JKSFC) hascrossed one more mile stone andhas now become eligible forrefinance from the SIDBI.

The Corporation has alsoearned a profit of Rs.3.83 croreduring last fiscal and hasbecome the first PSU of theState, to have fully updated itsannual accounts. The statutoryaudit for the Financial Year2013-14 is in process and will becompleted and placed before theshareholders within scheduledtime frame prescribed under theLaw.

This was stated at the meet-ing of the Board of Directors ofJ&K State FinancialCorporation held today underthe chairmanship of the Ministerfor Finance and Ladakh Affairs,Abdul Rahim Rather.

The Economic Advisor toGovernment, Jalil Ahmad Khan,Principle Secretary Finance,B.B. Vyas, Managing Director,SFC, Mohammad FarooqThoker, Assistant GeneralManager SIDBI, Anuj Jain,Taffazal Hussain, DeputyGeneral Manager of SFC,Mohammad Rafique Dar andN.A. Bhat, besides concernedofficers were also present in themeeting.

The meeting was informedthat the Corporation has sanc-tioned loans of Rs.20.42 crore as

credit in favour of entrepreneursduring the last fiscal besideseffecting recovery to the tune ofRs.19.55 crore during the sameperiod.

Speaking on the occasion,Mr. Rather called for a compre-hensive and fool proof system atpre-loan sanction stage to bridgethe gap between sanction anddisbursement of loans. He alsourged for an effective recoverydrive besides imparting trainingto its staff at both clerical andofficers level to upgrade theskills of human resource. Healso urged for a strong monitor-ing mechanism and tight inter-nal recovery management sys-tem to bring further efficiencyand improvement in the overallfunctioning of the Corporation.

He also impressed on themanagement to ensure that loansdisbursed to the entrepreneursare practically utilized at groundfor setting up of business units.He assured full support of theGovernment, to the managementin restoring the past glory of theCorporation, adding that themanagement too has onerousresponsibility to achieve all thetargets assigned to it from timeto time.

The Managing Director,while briefing about the per-formance of the Corporationsaid that apart from recoveringRs.19.55 crore during last fiscal,the Corporation has recoveredan amount of Rs.59.64 lakh andRs.37.20 lakh through auctionand litigation routes respective-ly.

JAMMU, May 17: Policeresorted to cane-charge to dis-perse the students who wereholding protest demanding set-ting up a commission for reser-vation for BPL and middle classof upper castes”.

The students under the ban-ner of National Front forEquality (NFFE) led by its pres-ident Pawan Singh Chib andprovincial president RanjitSingh assembled outside PressClub and raised slogans infavour of their demands.

The protestors weredemanding setting up a commis-sion for reservation for BPL andmiddle class of upper castes.

Later, the agitating students

in the shape of rally startedmarching towards Dogra Chowkand tried to block the vehicularmovement.

Heavy deployment of policerestricted their attempt andrestored to lathicharge to dis-perse the protestors.

During lathi-charge somestudents received minor injuriesand two students were arrested,who were released later.

While speaking, Pawan Chibsaid that the reservation policywas started for only 10 yearsand it was to be abolished afterthat but even after 67 years ofIndependence the reservationpolicy stands where it was 67years ago.

“Only leaders of Jammu canexplain why they didn't speak on

the issue all that time”, he said,adding that the people of uppercaste were fed up with reserva-tion policy and were at the brinkof losing their identity.

Chib further said that thepeople of upper castes in thepast were known as landlordsbut now majority of the popula-tion was working as labourers.

He claimed that the condi-tion of upper castes people haddeteriorated to such an extentthat in some areas people cannot even afford their meals.

“Even the schemes startedby the Government only favourone section of the society andpeople of upper castes were neg-lected in formation of schemes”,he added.

JAMMU, May 17: In aPublic Interest Litigation (PIL)seeking check on indecent, vul-gar and inappropriate advertise-ments and programmes on vari-ous Television Channels,Division Bench of High Courtcomprising Justice MohdYaqoob Mir and Justice DhirajSingh Thakur has issued noticeto the Ministry of Informationand Broadcasting, TelecomRegulatory Authority of India,Advertising Standards Councilof India, Central Board of FilmCertifications, State of J&K andState Law Ministry.

In the PIL filed by Law stu-dent of University of Jammunamely Paras Gupta, it has beensubmitted that television view-ers are being forced to watchvulgar, obscene, defamatory,false, indecent and immoral con-tents, which otherwise no pru-dent person would ever like towatch with his/her family andespecially children.

"There are a lot of pro-grammes/advertisements whichare providing false informationto the consumers about the prod-ucts and some advertisementsare also encouraging blind beliefand superstition, which are diffi-cult to be proved and are mis-leading", the petitioner said,adding "some of the pro-grammes and advertisementsshow the stature of a woman inan inappropriate and undignifiedmanner in order to sponsor theirproduct".

"The situation becomes soawkward when viewers gothrough such type of derogatoryadvertisements which portrays awomen in a sexual and indecent

manner", the petitioner said,adding "such advertisementsalso violate the constitutionalguarantees provided by theConstitution of India to womenand other persons".

Senior Advocate Sunil Sethiand Advocate Ankesh Chandelappearing for the PIL submittedthat the idea behind the creationof the regulatory authorities wasto ensure that the viewers are notsubjected to uncensored contenton the television. "But regulato-ry agencies are acting as a silentspectators and their silence isforcing the general public toface a lot of humiliation/embar-rassment especially when theyare watching the televisionalong with their family includ-ing minors", he added.

After going through the PILand hearing counsels, the DBissued notice to Ministry ofInformation and Broadcasting,Telecom Regulatory Authorityof India, Advertising StandardsCouncil of India, Central Boardof Film Certifications, State ofJ&K and State Law Ministry.

JAMMU, May 17: PresidingOfficer Fast Track CourtSanjeev Gupta today awardedone year imprisonment to oneKuldeep Singh, who was facingtrial for molesting a girl student.

According to the policecase, on March 12, 2012 prose-cutirx lodged a written reportwith Bishnah Police that shewas chased by the accusedwhen she had gone to the fieldsand thereafter the accusedmolested her.

After hearing both the sides,Presiding Officer Fast TrackCourt Sanjeev Gupta observed,"protection of society and deter-ring the criminal is avowedobject of law and that isrequired to be achieved byimposing an appropriate sen-tence".

"It is the duty of the court tohear the loud cry for justice bysociety in case of sexualmolestation with innocent help-less girls and respond by impos-ing of proper sentence", thecourt said.

With these observations,Court awarded one year rigor-ous imprisonment and fine ofRs 10,000 to one KuldeepSingh.
