  • Urban Waterfronts

Moffatt & Nichol has helped re-energize premier inter-national waterfront cities as they seek new economic growth through the revitalization of previously neglected neighborhoods. This is accomplished by creating mixed-use spaces with residences, hotels, retail shops, cafes and restaurants. Projects include improved waterfront access; municipal and private marinas; riverwalks, seawalls and piers; wetland creation and restoration; and public spaces, amphitheaters and maritime museums.

  • The grand opening festivities of the 21st Century Waterfront celebrated the remarkable transforma-tion of the north and south shores of Chattanoogas waterfront. Amazingly, this $120 million project was completed just 35 months after its inception and far exceeded the original vision. This extraor-dinary project could not have happened without the incredible expertise and selfless contributions of everyone involved. Our city is grateful for the valuable role you played in this effort, and I would like to thank you for your contribution to the project. You can take great pride in the fact that you played a part in creating a world-class amenity for Chattanooga.

  • Historic Vessel Moorings

An integral part of modern water-front planning involves creating space for the preservation of historic vessels. Waterfront communities seek to preserve and perpetuate their maritime history through facilities that allow the public to experience tradition and history rst hand. The restoration and mainte-nance of historic vessels as dockside interpretive exhibits, or as at sea programming vessels, can provide a public classroom for students and visitors. Moffatt & Nichol brings a unique understanding and approach to designing mooring and support facilities for such historic vessels.

...As predicted, the path of Hurricane Omar followed almost exactly the path and strength of 1999s Hurricane Lenny that devastated the western coastlines of islands as far south as Trinidad and north to the Cayman Islands. We all expected similar storm surge damage along our west cost here in Mustique and so it was, Basils small jetty and the Cotton House jetty were destroyed, the main wharf in Mustique and its facilities have been damaged and we are receiving reports of damage to Young Island, Kingstown Port and to the other Grenadine Islands...
