Target Audience Here we are discussing what our target audience is of our film opening choice. Our choice is a horror and we are going to research which target audience our genre fits into. We have found that only 32% of the population enjoy watching horror films. This then shows us that it has a fairly mainstream audience.

Target Audience

Here we are discussing what our target audience is of our film opening choice. Our choice is a horror and we are going to research which target audience our genre fits into.

We have found that only 32% of the population enjoy watching horror films. This then shows us that it has a fairly mainstream audience.

Within this data you can see the demographics of our genre. We can see the demographic audience which we should target in order to get the most people to watch it. The primary target audience for our film opening would be females under 35 at 44% and the secondary one would be males under 35 at 36%. The typical social class that is interested in horror films is C2 at 43%, which is the middle class.

This shows you the types of film that the general public consider as their favourites. You can see here that horror takes up 15% which means that it is a mainstream genre. This shows us that there is a large demographic that would be willing to watch our film.

This shows us the types of genres that are enjoyed by the general public. As shown we can see that the audience for horror is quite big and is therefore mainstream. We can still see that the females under 35 is still the biggest target audience for horrors as 28% consider a horror film their favourite genre.

This information shows us what films the general public would like to see more of in the future. It shows us that the demographic we should be aiming at for dark horrors would still be the females under 35 at 39%. The secondary however would be males above 35 at 31%> The social class would still be C2 which is the middle class at 38%. Which shows is a very clear target audience that we should be aiming for.

This shows us the genres of the films would like to see more of in the future but in the cinemas. The attendance at cinemas and the level of DVD purchase of horrors are a high percentage. We can see that the highest percentage for the cinema attendance would be the heavier section at 30%. The level of DVD purchase is also the heavier section at 45%. This shows us that our genre would be highly profitable.

In conclusion, our target audience is a mainstream target audience of females under 35. However, our secondary target audience would be males under 35. We also know we need to concentrate on making a dark horror for our film opening to appeal more to the target audience.
