Source codeSource code is a sci-fi/ drama thriller that is marketed at the audience aged from 15+ meaning it gives a wider target audience therefore larger income. It also allows the film to reach a wider range as these people will have more money and leisure time to be able to go and see the film.If is not gender specific with an almost perfect split in half. This means that it does not alienate one gender meaning that they do not cut off any possible audience members. It is also aimed at the upper class as they have more money to be able to spend to go and see this film.

Looper

Looper was aimed at the target audience primarily 15-34, this is because it stars a young actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt that is popular for this age group meaning more have gone it see it. It also attracted older audiences due to the involvement of Bruce Willis. It also attracted the majority of male audience viewers due to the plot of the film being primarily action attracting males.Alternatively to source code this did attract a wider range of class % from a range of classes meaning that people really did want to watch it so made a special effort to go.

Inception

Inception was also aimed at the age group 15-24 and then the only other viewers were older. This was because it was a more complex film and younger audiences may have found it difficult to follow and understand. There was not a specific gender meaning that they aimed for a split so that they attract more audience members. The audience class was in the top classes with the lower ones having few audience members. This may have been because it was a more complex film and people did not have time to go and watch it.

Dark knight rises

This, due to its link to marvel comics and the children’s interest in this and people have grown up with the comics this leaves this film with a wide audience range and a large amount of audiences to watch the movie. It is mainly marketed at males however females did also go to see it. This was spread around the different classes with not one extremely far ahead. This was due to it’s accessibility for all groups.

The Adjustment Bureau

This was spread equally between all age groups above 15 however 3% from the ages 12-14. This means that the film reached a wide range of people and did not just target a niche market or age group of customers. It is also not genre specific meaning that it did not isolate one gender. This was also accessible for all classes as they have all made a visit to the cinema to see this and have optionally chosen to give up their time and money to go and see it- even if they have not got that much to spare meaning the advertising campaign must have worked.

District 9District 9 hit a broad range of audience types due to it’s diversity and large marketing campaign with posters all over about ‘humans only’ meaning that people were wondering about that they were about and would actually go and look up online and take an interest in it to find out more information about it.It was advertised at the beginning of films such as transformers meaning from this they will get the same audience range from that film for this one.The majority of viewers were male. From all of these being more male or equal it shows that the thriller genre is more male oriented.

Ratings

It is important to make sure that the age ratings are accurate and are trusted as to make sure children do not get taken to see a film that deals with more complex and unreachable issues.

Also if people are wanting to go and watch a horror or a thriller that they think will be scary/ suitable for them they will not want to go and see one that is suitable for younger children as it may not be as thrilling or scary as they want.

It is also helpful for families to be ableto find a film that is suitable for all thefamily and not have to make youngerchildren sit through content that isunsuitable for them.

ReflectionAudienceFrom looking at this I will make sure I market it at both a male and female audience however still keep in mind that it will be a primarily male audience. This means I will need to look at the films that are aimed at men and see what they involve that the males will like. I will also look at films with the main audience as females to look at how I can incorporate this into mine.

Age ratingsFrom looking at the age ratings and guidelines from the different organisatoins who rate them I will make sure that I make it accessible but only as suitable as it could be.Also from the trailer I need to make sure that I do not include inappropriate features that some audiences may not wish to see as it is not up to them to watch the trailer if it appears on TV or before a film it needs to be appropriate for all as they have not opted to watch the trailer.
