SchoolcommsHello.
1
Actually want to start talking about SIMS, because Schoolcomms takes the key information from your SIMS system, including
pupil/student details
SIMS groups – e.g. year groups, registration groups, teaching groups
school defined groups – e.g. The ski-trip, sports groups
staff details
Attendance and absence information
The link with Attendance is rather special – as this is a two way link.
Once registration information is complete, the school attendance officer can use Schoolcomms to immediately text the contacts for students with an unexplained absence. When a school starts using Schoolcomms, the process of following up unexplained absence - which might have taken hours to complete - is transformed.
2
Ever wondered what the Schoolcomms button in SIMS does?
Never seen it before? Take a look by clicking the Focus button in the top left hand corner – that’s what this presentation is all about!
3
And with Schoolcomms, you get the ability to send text messages or emails from the SIMS Student Details screens too. This button appears on the main Student Details screen, and on Behaviour Management, Exclusions and SEN screen.
4
When you use Schoolcomms linked to SIMS Attendance, the absence marks get written back dynamically to SIMS Attendance (to replace the ‘N’ code) and the message from the parent also appears in SIMS Attendance as a comment. Here’s an example of that.
5
6
Unexplained absences/follow up absences – can select means of contacting parents text or email or have print out of those without email addresses or mobile phone numbers
10
When response is received it is related to an absence
