Dear Friends,

Thank you for joining Cathedral Center on the journey to end homelessness for women and families with children.

Each year, Cathedral Center invites you and our community to our Pathway Home event. Together, we celebrate individuals and families whose homeless experience ended, and thank those who take action to ensure that everyone has a safe place to call home. Pathway Home is also Cathedral Center’s primary fundraising event, raising critical dollars that help us to maintain basic operations and to provide much-needed services.

This year due to COVID-19, our 2020 Pathway Home event is canceled.

As COVID-19 reshapes our lives, it creates another crisis, another trauma for

women and families who live in poverty. For those who face housing instability and

homelessness, the well-being that housing provides is out of reach. Your generous

support is critical. Cathedral Center aims to not only provide a safe place to sleep –

we want to end homelessness for those we serve.

Your kindness provides women, children and families who face homelessness with much more than a bed and safe shelter. Your gift provides daily meals and clean clothes; bus passes to workplaces and access to social services that create stability. Your support provides hope and a Pathway Home.

COVID-19 has stopped many things in our community; it has not stopped home-lessness. Your continued partnership will help to provide a safe environment for women and families. You are a Pathway Home.

You Are the Pathway HomeThe Pathway Home raises funds to support the Cathedral Center’s mission to end homelessness. The Cathedral Center is more than just a place to sleep – it is an entry point to the social services system for many women and families. Emergency shelter and emergency Flexible Housing is combined with case management services, assistance with employment and education, housing placement, access to benefits and other social services to help women and families transform their lives and achieve their goals... to end homelessness, one life at a time.

In 2019, Cathedral Center provided 19,494 nights of emergency shelter to 298 women and 74 families including over 200 children.

As COVID-19 impacts our lives, your generous gift is critical in the journey to end homelessness.

Cathedral Center is one of Milwaukee’s only and largest agencies serving women and families with children experiencing homelessness. The mission of Cathedral Center is to provide a safe environment for women and families while working to end homelessness one life at a time. We accomplish our mission through the provision of safe emergency shelter, Flexible Housing services provided within our emergency housing program and within our community case management/homeless prevention services, and our Women’s Independence Program aiding clients to increase earned income.

Mission & Programs

EMERGENCY SHELTER provides critical and immediate access to a safe place to sleep when faced with homelessness and a dignified connection to services to secure a safe place to live at shelter exit. Cathedral Center is the first point of contact for referrals from our community’s Coordinated Entry program, street outreach workers and Milwaukee police. Guests can stay for up to 90 days where they receive case management and income services to support their goals.

FRIENDSHIP HOUSE is our emergency housing program when 90 days in an emergency shelter is not enough timeto secure safe housing. Referrals areaccepted from all Milwaukee-areashelters. Our unique, Flexible Housing model of service delivery supports guests for the amount of time needed to resolve their housing crisis and attain stability, working with staff to achieve their goals. Guests receive support from a clinical case manager, Women’sIndependence Program and partner services that are brought on site.

CASE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM focuses on engaging clients where they are at and providing support through the complications that come with a homeless experience. Case managers

and clients work together to create and then achieve goals focused on income, housing, health and well-being. Cathedral Center’s community Case Management Program works to prevent women and families with children from becoming homeless, as well as providing support upon shelter exit to aid in avoiding a return to homelessness.

WOMEN’S INDEPENDENCE PROGRAM works with clients directly to assess each person’s strengths and needs. The Program features peer groups and one-on-one sessions; resume writing and interviewing techniques; connecting guests with local employers and providing support after clients begin working.

VOLUNTEERS are intimately woven into the fabric of Cathedral Center’s mission, vision and services. Volunteers utilize their skills and work alongside Cathedral Center’s staff to provide a wide range of services for our guests. Some of the areas where volunteers make an impact include sponsoring and holding monthly birthday parties; providing after school support; assisting in the reception area; and preparing, providing and serving nu-tritional meals. In 2019, 1,488 volunteers provided 8,357 hours in 18 volunteer positions across seven program areas.

Thank YouAll of us at Cathedral Center recognize that this request for support comes during unprecedented times. So many have faced incredible and unexpected challenges and so many uncertainties remain before us. Please know that the Cathedral Center family wants to extend our deep and heartfelt gratitude to the many individuals, restaurants, foundations, faith and other groups who were so quick to provide sup-port as Cathedral Center adjusted services quickly to keep staff and guests at both locations safe

Deep respect and gratitude also go out to our incredible staff – who continue to serve and compassionately care for the women and families with children who lack a home of their own to isolate within.
