Conduct urban operations and security missions with a totally

new vehicle capability. Get the SandCatTM protected multi-role

vehicle from Oshkosh Defense. This high-speed, highly-protected,

highly-maneuverable vehicle can be specifically designed for a

wide variety of roles. It can be reconfigured to fit a wide variety

of missions: military, homeland defense, global war on terror,

law enforcement and security, special operations, disaster aid

and peace-keeping missions. All while meeting the rigorous

demands needed for state-of-the-art crew and vehicle protection,

reliability, versatility, payload capacity and affordability.

The SandCat multi-role vehicle concept, with use of a commercial

chassis and kitted hull, allows for rapid and efficient manufacturing.

It also enables customization of the survivability technologies to

fit the mission. Adaptations can be made based on the relevant

threat levels and enhanced on demand while optimizing the

vehicle for weight, space, payload, cost and assembly.

The SandCat protected multi-role vehicle – a new concept

to meet the protection, performance, payload equation.

Complete Performance

The SandCatTM vehicle gets the job done. Because it will be tailored to

meet your operational environment, you’ll get the right balance of mission

performance. Respond confidently. Maneuver swiftly. Both in urban and in

complex terrain. The SandCat vehicle performs with greater protection at

a lower weight and smaller footprint than any vehicle in its class.

With vast experience and capabilities in military tactical wheeled vehicle design and engineering, Oshkosh Defense delivers a SandCatTM vehicle that maximizes performance and payload.

Operational and tactical features include:

• Expanded field of vision• 2946 mm (116 in.) wheelbase• High approach angle (38°)• High departure angle (30°)• 6 m (19.7 ft.) turning radius

• 330 mm (13 in.) ground clearance • Maximum governed speed of 120 kph (74.6 mph) • Exceptional stability on longitudinal and transverse slopes• Optimal armored compartment design

Payload

The SandCat vehicle has substantially more payload capacity than any vehicle of its type. The armor is integrated into the vehicle design – precisely planned and engineered for optimal protection at a lesser weight, which allows for more payload capacity. The SandCat vehicle also has a lighter footprint than vehicles of a similar size and survivability level. So you can move quicker and carry more crew and equipment, but still give them the best protection possible.

Whatever the requirements of the mission. Whatever the needs of the vehicle. Oshkosh Defense can provide a SandCat protected multi-role vehicle that does the job.

The SandCatTM vehicle provides exceptional handling, off-road performance

and ride quality – it’s responsive and easy to handle. Because the chassis

is commercial-based, drivers are already familiar with the dashboard and interior

configurations, which means less time needed for driver training.

Worldwide Support

For almost 100 years, Oshkosh Defense has manufactured some of the world’s toughest, most reliable vehicles ever built, and has backed each and every vehicle with unequivocal service and support.

The SandCatTM protected multi-role vehicle is no exception. Like all other Oshkosh Defense® vehicles, the SandCat vehicle is backed by elite service capabilities – worldwide logistics support that includes global replacement parts distribution, training, maintenance and factory-trained technicians available anytime, anywhere – in field or in garrison.

Maximum protection for any mission.

Different missions call for different levels of protection.

The SandCatTM vehicle variants – Utility and Transport –

provide baseline protection, and Oshkosh Defense can

offer more. Whether minimal protection is needed for

disaster relief or maximum protection is needed for troops

in combat, Oshkosh Defense configures the SandCat

vehicle to accommodate. Get both the performance

and protection you need to fulfill your mission.

Crew protection is paramount. Decreasing vulnerability,

reducing casualties and increasing survivability is

the foundation on which this vehicle is built. So the

SandCat vehicle has an Integrated Survivability System.

Every technology within this system is an independent

layer that provides certain core attributes essential for

survival. By super imposing the various technologies,

and interlocking them as a complete and integral unit,

the highest level of survivability is achieved.

Armor Technology

Spall liner reduces the number of fragments from an overmatch threat.

Composite armor panels mean exceptional multi-hit performance.

Readily-assembled armor in full kit form.

Armor KitsThe SandCatTM protected multi-role vehicle comes with a standard armor kit. Kit A is a base level metal composite unit which reduces weight and enables lower fuel consumption. Kit B is an optional upgrade. It’s a composite-based armor solution mounted on the base metal composite (Kit A) for added ballistic protection if the environment calls for it. It can be easily and quickly assembled out in the field. Both A and B kits can bespecifically tailored to your requirements.

Cabin StructureThe cabin structure of the SandCat vehicle is a specially designed superstructure of armor panels. The armor panels are equipped with an overlap system to maintain the ballistic integrity of the panels and prevent penetration of shrapnel, fragments or small arms ammunition hits. It has three layers: The external layer is constructed of ceramic segments, sized and shaped to offer optimal ballistic performance.

These are then packed into panels which make up the armor’s foundation. The unique structure allows for coverage of three-dimensional curved shapes of the vehicle chassis design. The other two layers are the vehicle’s wall and a spall liner. This metal composite armor system offers extra protection while being much lighter and less costly than an equivalent metal layer.

Spall LinersThe protective inner shell is made up of spall liners that counter interior projectiles caused by an external blast or hostile projectiles that are able to overmatch and penetrate.

Blast management

Blast management technology is specifically designedto minimize penetration, overmatch and blast overpressure effects through absorption and deflection. It incorporates a v-shaped belly deflector, impact-absorbing seats, advanced suppression systems and composite materials. Belly DeflectorThe belly deflector is a high-energy absorbing structure which provides protection against mines, buried charges and underside shrapnel that the vehicle may encounter. An armored v-shaped hull accepts the impact of the mine blast and moves the energy outward.

Collapsible Seat BaseTested extensively, the collapsible seat base design is an integral component in the blast management system.

The seat base is engineered to absorb impact of the vertical accelerations experienced in a mine blast through a downward motion. This reduces the explosive forces and after-blast effects on the vehicle occupants. The seat base is activated by violent vertical force and performs as an energy-absorbing spring. The seat base remains stable during normal driving conditions.

Suspended SeatsFor even greater protection, seats can be suspended to minimize acceleration forces and prevent contact between crew and vehicle belly during a blast impact.

The Blast Management Concept incorporates a v-shaped belly deflector,

impact-absorbing seats, advanced suppression systems and composite

materials to absorb and deflect blasts.
