The Wesley Bishop Park inMoorestown will be the place tobe on Arbor Day, April 24.Moorestown will not only be cele-brating its 25th year of being aTree City USA community, but itis also where the 2015 State ArborDay Celebration will be held.Moorestown hopes to plantaround 50 to 100 trees that day.

“I’m extremely proud that wecan bring the state celebrationhere. Moorestown has been aTree City for 25 years. The whole

town believes in trees, and it is anhonor to have the celebration,”John Gibson, chairman of theMoorestown Tree Planting andPreservation Committee, said.

To help raise funds for thosetrees, the committee is hosting afundraiser on Tuesday, March 24with the Iron Hill Brewery, locat-ed at 124 East Kings Highway in

A harp can be thought of as aninstrument that can only beplayed for a small number of mu-sical genres. However,Moorestown resident and RobertsElementary School teacher LauraDishong would say otherwise.

Dishong, also a former CaesarsCasino harpist, would play pop

and rock songs on her harp; rockis one of her favorite things toplay on the harp. Recently, Dis-hong was inspired to turn herlove for music and using harp inother genres into a CD.

Dishong will celebrate the re-lease of her first CD, “LittleGreen Apples,” with a concert atthe Moorestown CommunityHouse Ballroom on Sunday,March 22 at 3:30 p.m. This CD fea-tures her original pop-folk music.The concert is free and open to all

ages.“This is where I live; this is

where I work; I wanted to havethe party somewhere where peo-ple could come and join in on thecelebration. Hopefully, people willbe excited and enjoy it,” Dishongsaid.

Dishong had been working onthe music and ideas for her CDfor years, but when she went torecord her CD at her home, things

weren’t sounding the way shewanted. So she decided to go to astudio to get the sound she wasdreaming of.

Her CD was recorded at CedarStreet Studios in Philadelphiaand engineered/produced by TedRichardson of TED Audio. Herharp is backed up by DarrenKeith on drums, her husbandMark Dishong on keys, MichaelG. Ronstadt on cello, her daughterEllie Dishong on fiddle, JamesHamilton on percussion and

Richardson on keyboard bass.“It’s kind of like my baby,

working on this for several years.I finally found a place where theproducer was on board and excit-ed about it. He helped me achievemy vision,” Dishong said.

All of her songs were writtenon a mythological theme. Shesaid many of her songs came to

al. March 20 is National Proposal Day,

and we are celebrating the under-the-

radar “holiday” by telling the stories

of marriage engagements of the mem-

bers of this community.

Why do we do this? As one of our as-

sociate editors would say, “we love

love.”

And so, too, apparently, do plenty of

other New Jerseyans. A recently-re-

leased Census report shows that New

Jersey has the lowest percentage of

people who have married two or more

times. So, when we say “I do,” we tend

to mean it. Or, at the very least, we

don’t intend to say it again if things

don’t go right the first time.

We’d rather focus on that first point,

though. New Jersey has long held one

of the lowest, if not the lowest, divorce

rates in the nation, and experts are

never surprised to read this. Why? Be-

cause New Jersey residents typically

fall into categories that put them at a

lower likelihood to get a divorce:

We have a high level of education,

so we often delay marriage to a later

age, making us more emotionally and

financially stable. Money troubles are

a leading cause of divorce, and since a

good portion of our newlyweds are in

a better financial position than their

counterparts in the South and West –

where divorce rates are higher – we

tend to avoid the D-word.

Which circles us back to what we’re

really talking about here – wonderful,

head-over-heels love.

We have already received plenty of

stories from the community about

their memorable engagement stories,

and we thank you for them. Your sto-

ries will be told in these pages in the

coming weeks. If you want to share

The following reports are on

file with the Moorestown PoliceDepartment:

On March 1, two unlocked vehi-cles parked in a driveway onNicholson Drive were enteredsometime overnight and takenwas apurse con-taining$400 incash andassorted

cards from one vehicle. Medica-tion was taken from the glovecompartment of the other vehicle.

On Feb 27, an officer initiated amotor vehicle stop on LenolaRoad and had the driver pull intoa parking lot for safety precau-tions. When officer was return-ing to his vehicle, the suspect ac-celerated and drove away. A spe-cial complaint was issued to a 24-year-old of Maple Shade for ob-struction.

On Feb. 28, a 30-year-old femaleof Wenonah was arrested andcharged with shoplifting for con-cealing clothing and jewelry in ashopping bag belonging to SearsDepartment Store in theMoorestown Mall. Value of thetheft was $58.37. She was releasedon a summons.

On March 1, a 52-year-old maleof Moorestown was arrested and

charged with criminal mischief due to a domestic dispute. Hecaused damage in excess of $500inside the residence. He posted 10percent of $500 bail and was re-leased.

On March 2, a victim was shop-ping at Kmart and an unknownactor stole her wallet from herpocketbook. The wallet was aMichael Kors valued at $175 con-taining $60 in cash and assortedcards.

On March 3, a suspect con-

cealed three women’s dress shirtsin her handbag at Boscov’s De-partment Store in theMoorestown Mall. The value of

the clothing was $294. Arrested

and charged with shoplifting wasa 59-year-old individual of Philadelphia. The individual wasreleased on a summons.

Other than needing donations,the committee is also asking forvolunteers to help plant the treesit is able to purchase.

“It will be a lot of fun that day.We’ll hopefully have over 100 vol-unteers planting 100 trees,”Logue said.

“We have all of the equipment.People just need to show up and

can all learn from their strugglesand stories.”

The launch party at theMoorestown Community Houseseemed to exactly fit Dishong’swant of having family andfriends come to celebrate andenjoy her CD as well as othermembers of the public. She wish-es to share her love for music andthe harp in shocking genres with
