The Pyramids of GizaI wanted to visit the pyramids at Giza because of their historical importance. The Egyptians built them thousands of years ago, but they are the size of skyscrapers today. The automobile was not even close to being invented, yet there is so much stone in the pyramids it could build a three foot wall around France! The innovation and their sense of awe are the reasons that I would want to go there.

The Sphinx

I want to visit the Sphinx because it has the same historical importance as the pyramids. It is enormous, but it was build before the invention of machines, and it has been carved. There were no molds or machines used in the carving of the sphinx, it was done by hand. The amount of effort put into it must have been tremendous. I also find it interesting because it was built because one man, the king of Egypt at the time, wanted it built. He must have been very powerful.

Machu PichuI want to visit Machu Pichu because it is a place of historical importance for the Inca People. They housed their king there, and built an entire city around him and his needs. There are temples to all of the Inca gods, there are farms up on the mountainside, and most impressive of all is the view. The entire city was built at the summit of a mountain in the Andes. It was one of the only Inca cities left alone by the Spanish because of its location. They never found it.

MonasteryI want to visit the monastery because I've never been to a monastery before and I don't really know much about how nuns and monks lived. It is a Spanish monastery build on the mountain in the 1800's after the Spanish had crushed to Incas who built Machu Pichu. It is on the trail that leads up to Machu Pichu, and because you cannot fly to Machu Pichu, I am going to walk by it either way, might as well visit.

Big Ben/ParliamentI want to visit Big Ben and Parliament because they are historic places that we studied in history class as well as somewhere very famous. It seems almost obvious that should be one of the destinations for this trip. The buildings are built in a very famous architectural style and they are something that I want to see very badly.

London EyeThe London Eye is the biggest Ferris wheel in the world. It is next to the water with a view of parliament and Big Ben, and the place where you sit is an enormous glass orb. The view would be fantastic and I think it would be a great experience while in London.

Pearl Harbor

The pearl harbor in Hawaii is a very historical place. It was bombed by the Japanese and is one of the reasons that the United States joined WWII. There was a fleet of aircraft carriers there that Japan was afraid could be used against their allies, the Nazis. They sent an enormous fleet of aircraft with no warning, and destroyed the fleet before most American planes could get off the ground. There is a memorial there now, and I would like to go see it.

The BeachWhile I am in Pearl Harbor, I might as well go see the beach. I hear that Hawaiian beaches are very cool, some even have black sand. I also hear that the surfing there is really good, and I might want to try it.

Versailles The palace at Versailles was a very historical location. It was the home of the French Royalty for many years, and the treaty of Versailles that ended WWI was signed there. This place has been very influential in history, and now that it has been converted into a museum, I would very much like to visit and learn more about the place.

BastilleThe bastille is not completely still standing, because it was dismantled in a riot, but when the crews were excavating to build a metro they found an undemolished guard tower. The tower is now displayed in a park where the public can see it. The outline of the original prison is built out in the roads and courtyards that have been built on top of the original location.
