Darden Restaurants, Inc. (407-245-4500) is slated to open 70 locations this year. The company operates approximately 1,700 restaurants, including Red Lobster seafood restaurants, Olive Garden Italian restaurants, LongHorn Steakhouse, The Capital Grille steakhouses, Bahama Breeze island grills and Seasons 52 fresh grill restaurants.

Aldi, Inc. (630-879-8100) is slated to open a 17,000 sq.ft. Aldi supermarket along Northeast 49th Court Road in Ocala, FL during the fall. The company currently operates a location along Southwest 19th Avenue Road in the city, and plans to open 11 locations throughout FL this year as part of a plan to open 75 locations nationwide. The company will also open a 17,000 sq.ft. store on a three-acre parcel located along Whiskey Road in Aiken, SC later this month.

Trader Joe’s Co. (626-599-3700) will open two Trader Joe’s locations in WA this year, including a 12,500 sq.ft. store located in a former The Good Guys site along Black Lake Boulevard in Olympia and a store in Ballard. The company currently operates 300 of the neighborhood grocery stores nationwide throughout 25 states.

Nordstrom, Inc. (206-628-2111) plans to open a Nordstrom Rack location at Lakewood Centre, a shopping center located in Lakewood, CA, during the fall of 2010. The 33,400 sq.ft. store will offer apparel and accessories for men, women and children at discounts from 30% to 70%. The opening will be the company’s 14th in the Los Angeles/Orange County area. The company is also planning to open two Nordstrom locations, including a replacement store at Los Cerritos Centre in Cerritos, CA during the spring of 2010.

JCPenney Co., Inc. (972-431-1000) will open a freestanding JCPenney store at Hancock Village, a 500,000 sq.ft. center located along Hull Street Road in Chesterfield, VA, during 2010. The company recently opened a freestanding location at The Shops at White Oak Village in Henrico, VA earlier this month.

Fossil, Inc. (972-234-2525) plans to open 40 to 50 branded and outlet Fossil stores this year, including four or five openings in the U.S. The company currently operates 191 stores internationally, and opened 84 stores while closing four during 2008.

Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. (585-328-2550) plans to open a Wegmans supermarket as an anchor to a 350,000 sq.ft. mixed-use development located at the intersection of Emmorton Road and Woodsdale Road in Abingdon, MD, as part of the company’s plans to open two to three new stores annually. The gourmet supermarkets occupy spaces of 120,000 sq.ft. to 140,000 sq.ft. and feature European-style cafes, sushi stands and patisseries. The opening is one of six stores in MD planned by the company, which is constructing stores in Crofton and Landover and is in the approvals phase for sites in Columbia, Frederick and Germantown.

Wal*Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) is slated to open a Wal*Mart Supercenter location at Hancock Village, a 500,000 sq.ft. shopping center located along Hull Street Road in Chesterfield, VA, during August. The tenant will anchor the center and joins LongHorn Steakhouse. Bed Bath & Beyond, Qdoba Mexican Grill, Mattress Warehouse, Starbucks, Jersey Mike’s and Osaka Sushi & Steak are slated to open locations during the summer of this year and the spring of 2010.
