From the Executive Director...

Welcome to the Carbon Valley Park and Recreation District Fall Activity Guide. As your new Executive Director, I am extremely proud to be a part of the community and look forward to serving you. Recently, the district has undergone numerous changes including a new Board of Directors elected by the communities of Dacono, Firestone, and Frederick. We are motivated and excited to move forward and offer you our commitment to excellence, financial responsibility, communication, and transparency.

Carbon Valley Park and Recreation District has recently begun a Master Plan process to shape and develop the future direction of the district. The plan reflects the Board of Directors’ commitment to be inspired and innovative while preparing for anticipated growth and delivering a comprehensive community spirit to the Carbon Valley region. Community input has been collected and strengths and weaknesses have been identified. Our partnerships with all three communities has bolstered our ability to serve the needs of the district’s residents. These partnerships advance financial accountability by reducing duplication of services within our community.

The Board of Directors, CVPRD recreational professionals, and our dedicated support staff are proud to serve our residents and guests. The City of Dacono, the Town of Firestone, and the Town of Frederick are exceptional partners and have joined with us to prepare for today and plan for tomorrow. We proudly serve all community members and welcome new ideas and suggestions. The programs and facilities belong to the residents and our entire CVPRD team invites you to stop in for a tour, try a class, or just get your workout on. It’s Your Play!!

For more information and current updates please visit us on Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest, or our website at www.recdistrict.com.

Every Lottery game you buy helps satisfy Colorado’s never-ending need to play. From parks and trails, to wilderness and recreation areas, the Colorado Lot-tery is funding the places where Colorado plays. In Fiscal Year 2014 alone, the Lottery distributed more than $130 million in proceeds. Since its creation 31 years ago, the Lottery has returned $2.7 billion back into the state of Colorado for parks, recreation, open space, conservation education and wildlife projects. Profits from the sale of Lottery products are man-dated to be distributed according to this formula: 50 percent to the GOCO Trust Fund, 40 percent to the Conservation Trust Fund, and 10 percent to The Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife. GOCO funds are capped at $35 million, adjusted for inflation (this translates to $60.3 million for FY14), and funds that exceed the GOCO cap go to the Colorado Depart-ment of Education, Public School Capital Construc-tion Assistance Fund.
