The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph December 28, 2014

THE HOLY FAMILY OF JESUS, MARY AND JOSEPH The Holy Family is one of the aspects in the life of Jesus more revered by Christian devotion. The images of Joseph and Mary, with the child Jesus in the midst of them, in their flight to Egypt, in the temple of Jerusalem, in Joseph’s workshop, have inspired the imagination of painters and devotion of Christians. Jesus needed parents, like all children of the world. Jesus needed a mother, not only begotten but to be fed, groomed, dressed, corrected. Jesus needed his parents so he could be educated, to receive instruction ... as anyone in this world. It is they who took him to the temple to listen to the Scribes. Joseph was the one who in-troduced Jesus to carpentry, to the work of a craftsman. The family of Jesus is the first witness, irrefutable wit-ness to the real humanity of Jesus. Joseph and Mary formed Jesus during the years that Jesus lived with his family. The Spirit was quietly shaping their mission. Ecclesiasticus (Sirach) 3: 2-6. 12-14. This reading makes us know the affection and respect that children should give to their parents. Colossians 3: 12-21. This letter is addressed to the whole Christian community. Free or slaves. The author goes to the root. The start of all Christian life is the choice of God. God has chosen us all and each one. This choice implies a compromise: we must live in unity. This unity is the ideal of Christians; you must direct the be-havior and activity of individuals. The Gospel of Luke 2: 22-40. The Gospel narrates the presentation of Jesus in the temple. The child was growing in spirit and truth and progressively strengthened, he was filled with wisdom and the grace of God was with him. Today we can join with the Holy Family in prayer on this very special day to pray for each one of our families ... HAPPY HOLY FAMILY DAY. LA SAGRADA FAMILIA DE JESÚS, MARIA Y JOSÉ La sagrada familia es uno de los aspectos de la vida de Jesús mas entrañablemente venerados por la devo-ción Cristiana. Las imagines de José y Maria, con el niño Jesús ya sea en medio de ellos, en su huida a Egip-to, en el temple de Jerusalén, en el taller de José, han inspirado la imaginación de los pintores y la devoción de los cristianos. Jesús necesito de padres, como todos los niños del mundo. Jesús necesito de una mamá, no solamente para ser engendrado sino para ser alimentado, aseado, vestido, corregido. Jesús necesito de sus padres para ser educado, para recibir instrucción… como cualquier persona de este mundo. Son ellos quienes lo llevaron des-de pequeño al templo a escuchar a los escribes. José fue quien lo inicio en el oficio de artesano, carpintero. La familia de Jesús es el primer testigo, el testigo irrefutable de la real humanidad de Jesús. José y Maria formaron a Jesús durante los años vividos con su familia. El Espíritu iba en silencio moldeando su misión. Eclesiástico (Siracide)3:2-6. 12-14. Esta lectura nos hace saber el cariño, respeto que los hijos e hijas deben guardar hacia sus padres. Colosenses 3:12-21. Esta carta está dirigida a toda la comunidad Cristiana. Libres o esclavos. El autor se va a la raíz. El arranque de toda vida Cristiana es la elección de Dios. Dios nos ha elegido a todos y cada uno. Esta elección implica un compromiso: a vivir en la unidad. La unidad es el ideal del cristiano que tiene que orientar todo comportamiento y actividad de los individuos. El Evangelio de San Lucas 2, 22-40. Nos narra la presentación de Jesús en el templo. El niño iba creciendo y fortaleciéndose, se llenaba de la sabiduría y la gracia de Dios estaba con él. Oremos en este día muy especial por cada una de nuestras familias… FELIZ DIA DE LA SAGRADA FAMILIA.
