Two months ago, myyoungest son Samneeded a new phone

and our Verizon family plancould not accommodateanother line. I really wantedto put him on our plan, as wehave no limit on data or talktime, as were the plans of 5 orso years ago. Today, the major-ity of phone plans, regardlessof carrier, charge for data orlimit you and those that don’tcharge, reduce your speedwhen you exceed a certainlevel of data each month. Samis 14 which means he, by gen-eration, is a data hog and anunlimited data plan is essen-tial to his psyche and my wal-let too! What is a father to do?

Lo and behold, Sprint, introduced an unlimited dataplan that would not slowdown upon reaching a setusage level. Immediately, wesped to our local Sprint Kiosk,to purchase a new SamsungGalaxy S-5 Android phonewith unlimited data plan.Thephone cost over $600 and theplan was $60 per month wherethey would finance the phonewith no interest at just $50 permonth. Sam, remember, is 14so an insurance plan is critical, adding another $11 to themonthly bill bringing the totalto just over $100 per month.

Ok, we walk away withthe best phone on the market, unlimited data and a satisfac-tion guarantee, not happy, getyour money back. Well notexactly, as we found out.Service was fine except, nearWayne Hills High School, thephone doesn’t work very well,

exactly where Sam happens tobe 5 days a week. Though hedoesn’t use the phone everyday, we decided to give Sprintthe opportunity to better thesituation by explaining tothem our dilemma. After 4weeks, we attempted to cancelthe service, trying to “port-over” the phone to Verizon, who has excellent service atthe high school. Sprint refusedto tell me anything about myaccount unless I told them myaccount password or my child-hood best friend. I couldn’tanswer their questions, as Inever supplied the informa-tion to them since I was neverasked the questions when weinitially purchased the phoneand service. They refused tohelp me disconnect thephone. I asked for managers, supervisors and vice presidentsto speak to, explaining that Icannot possibly answer anyquestions for which I had notpreviously given information.I even visited the Sprint loca-tion in Butler to cancel theaccount and get a refund forthe phone. The clerk said Ihad to return to Willow Brookas each were third party retail-ers; not corporate ownedstores and they were the onlyones that could help us. I wasfurious to say the least as thishad consumed many hours ofenergy already.

So next I went to theVerizon store, after receiving a“special chip” by overnightmail directly from Verizon cor-porate, to place in the phoneso Verizon could communicatewith it. You see, up to this

point I was under the impres-sion that a Samsung Galaxy S-5 phone could use any serviceprovider, after all, it is the

newest phone on the marketand available from a myriad ofretailers as well. Boy was Iwrong! The Verizon storeinformed me that even withthe chip installed, the phonewould not operate properly orperhaps at all with Verizon, because this was a “Sprint”phone, unique and manufac-tured exclusively for them andcannot be ported over to any-one. Now, I had to go back tothe kiosk where I found outthe salesman made-up theanswers to the security ques-tions and password, neglectingto tell me what they were.Further, after speaking withthe Sprint tech people directlyfrom the kiosk, the phonecould not be changed to anyother service provider and Icould not get a refund as I wasover the 14 day window ofopportunity, even though the

reason for delay was to remedythe problem. Earlier, theSprint home office told me Icouldn’t port the phone unless

I paid the bill in full, (whichwas the balance of the phonepurchase price) so I did, righton the phone with my AMEXcard. So now, I have a paid forSprint phone that can’t bechanged to Verizon, theSprint service is deactivatedand I am unable to move it toVerizon or any other provider.Sprint offered me $170 for thephone I just paid $600 for andVerizon will sell me a new one, with a 2 year service contractcommitment for only $290.This is my current dilemma;I’m sure there are thousands ofpeople in a similar predica-ment. Sprint was dishonestfrom the beginning, signingme up with a promise of “satis-faction guaranteed,” makingup the answers to securityquestions and passwords with-out my knowledge, not dis-closing that the phone was

unable to be “ported” to any-one else, allowing me to can-cel the service, but not thephone and failing to refundmy money stating that I tooktoo long now to bring it totheir attention. They were dis-honest not to reveal that theSprint dealers are independ-ent contractors/retailers andnot actually affiliated with thecompany and other Sprintlocations have nothing to dowith each other. I feel dupedand severely disappointed thatthis kiosk independent retailerwill not step-up and rise to theoccasion and refund mymoney for the phone enablingme to take my business else-where.

I am devoting my finan-cial column space today to letmy readers know that theSprint “Satisfaction Guaran-teed” has a time limit of 14days (this was never initiallydiscussed) and you shouldthink twice before purchasinga phone and service fromthem. May my $600 expense,be a lesson to you and a warn-ing to them, not to treat thepeople in our communityunfairly, as a bad reputationtravels much faster than agood one. Basically everyoneneeds a cell phone today andthere are many choices inwhich to secure one. Pleaseremember this true story whenconsidering which cell compa-ny or retailer to use.

PAID ADVERTORIAL

Page 5: 221657_1418131304Dec 10 2014 Z3 LR.pdf

The Christmas Tree isa tradition that camefrom Europe and

gained great popularity inthe United States, and thetraditional tree was oftenadorned with candles, stars, and food such as cookies andcandy to celebrate the sea-son. It was believed by somethat the candles representedlight, or the birth of theSavior who would be “theLight of the World.” Starsrepresented the light in thesky that led the travelers tothe birthplace of the infantJesus. The treats were a wayof giving thanks for havingfood throughout the year, and also served as gifts forchildren.

So where does the candycane fit in as a symbol ofChristmas? Back in the1400’s, priests in France

developed an all-white stickof candy that was straightand not hooked. As legendhas it, a French choirmasterin the year 1670 bent oneend of the straight stick ofcandy into the shape of theshepherd’s staff or crook, as itwas called. This crook thensymbolized the shepherds inand around Bethlehem who

were the first to hear thegood news. Red-and-whitestriped, peppermint-flavoredcandy canes began to appearat Christmas time in theUnited States during theearly part of the 20thCentury.Have a Merry Christmas and ahappy and safe Holiday Season!

It took me awhile to figureout that the “new andimproved” Joe wasn’t a win-

ning persona. When I wasaround 23, I was a hotshot staff

accountant at the WitcoChemical Corporation. Myaura at the time was that mypoop didn’t stink. Other peo-ple’s might have, but not mine.

I decided to venture outand look for a new job. A head-hunter set up an interview forme in a nearby town. I don’tremember the name of thecompany, but I sure rememberthe meeting.

My interviewer was ayoung guy who immediatelymade me feel very confidentand very comfortable. Abouthalf way through the interview,I planted my feet firmly on his

desk. We talked about women, partying and all of my consider-able conquests. When I left, hegave me a slap on the back andtold me he looked forward toseeing me soon.

I left feeling absolutelypositive that I had gotten thejob. When I arrived home, there was already a message onmy machine. The call was frommy headhunter.

Her first message was this,“Joe, I just heard from the com-pany and unfortunately, youdid not get the job.” When Iheard those words, my heartsank. The rejection didn’t

make sense to me. I thought Ihad connected with the inter-viewer on a spiritual level.

But the next words thatcame out of her mouthchanged the way I looked atmyself. She said, “Oh, by theway, he has a message for you:‘Grow up’!” Think about it...

I realized too late thatduring the interview, the inter-viewer was testing me. Hewanted to see how far I wouldgo. He opened the door, and Ijust ran my mouth. What wasimpressive to a 23 year-oldwhose life was a mess was

VERY unimpressive in the realworld! Have you had a similar“testing”? How did you do?Perhaps some changes need tobe made in your life so thatwhen you feel comfortable inan initial meeting, your trueself will be just the ticket.

As the cost of livingcontinues to rise, holiday shopping

It is important to exercisetact when approaching thesubject of gift limits. Discussthe topic with friends andfamily members with whomyou usually exchange gifts

long before the holiday sea-son. Agree on a reasonableamount of money each personwill spend on gifts. If neces-sary, ask everyone to writedown a figure and then deter-mine the average, using thatfigure as your spending limit.

Establishing a spendinglimit makes it easier for everyfamily to afford their holiday

purchases. If there are six peo-ple on your shopping list andyou’re spending $50 per per-son, you know to allocate$300 for gifts. Saving andbudgeting can be adjustedaccordingly.

When no such limit isestablished, you may go over-board to compensate, even ifyou cannot afford to do so.

Another way to savemoney is to suggest giving thegift of experiences rather thantangible and potentially costlygifts. For example, take aloved one out for dinner orsuggest going on vacationtogether to make better use ofyour collective funds. A well-timed extended family vaca-tion in lieu of gift exchangesmay alleviate the stress of the

holiday season, much ofwhich can be traced to holi-day spending.

Establishing a gift-givingstrategy and budget for eachperson to work with can makefor a more peaceful holidayseason by freeing up time tospend with loved ones andplacing the focus on familyinstead of shopping.

Deciding to get a dogcan be a life-alteringmoment. While the

decision carries with it awealth of responsibility, a dogcan change a person’s life forthe better, providing loyaltyand companionship for yearsto come.

Once the decision to geta dog has been made, prospec-tive pet owners must choose abreed. Various factors playinto this decision, includinghow much space the dog willhave at home, the groomingresponsibilities that comewith a particular breed and the

typical demeanor of a givenbreed. Because no two breedsor owners are the same, somedog-owner combinations maymake for a better pairing thanothers.

Descriptions of breedtemperament can provide awindow into the general per-sonality of certain dogs. Butsuch descriptions are not set instone, as each dog is uniqueand may exhibit behaviorsextraordinary to its breed.Factors such as socializationand training play key roles inhow dogs will react in situa-tions, and the following are

some dog breeds that have apropensity to be easy-goingand relatively easy to train.

Golden retriever: Goldenretrievers tend to be gregari-ous, docile and a good fit forfamilies. They are people-ori-ented, affectionate and loyal.Golden retrievers are moder-ately-sized dogs that needexercise to prevent boredom(which can compel them tocause damage around thehome). But golden retrieversare generally a good fit forfirst-time dog owners.

Labrador retriever: Aclose cousin to the golden

retriever, Labradors are anoth-er breed known for their goodnature and willingness to betrained. Labs shed and cangrow large, so that is some-thing apartment-dwellersmust consider before bringinghome a Lab.

Standard poodle: Poodlesare an intelligent breed thatare easily trained. Poodles canbe high strung if not givenample exercise, so this issomething prospective poodleowners need to consider.

Is There is a Difference BetweenSpider Veins and Varicose Veins?

Spider veins and varicoseveins are different in ap-pearance but similar intheir causes. With vari-cose veins, the valves lo-cated within the veins are

diseased and do not fully close to preventblood in the vein from flowing in the wrongdirection (called “refluxing”). This results inbulging veins in the legs which are often blueor purple in appearance. These varicoseveins can cause pain, numbness and fatiguein the legs; and in more extreme cases cancause painful leg ulcers. We refer to spider veins as smaller dis-colored veins that have a spider web-likeappearance. These veins are generally notpainful, and are treated cosmetically. As we age, the risk of developing vari-cose veins increases. Approximately 30 –50% of adults suffer from the underlyingcondition, known as chronic venous insuffi-ciency, or CVI. Approximately 80% of patients arewomen and only 20% are men.Contributing factors that put a person atrisk of developing varicose veins include:

• Heredity• Age• Standing profession• Being overweight or obese• Hormonal issuesWhat Causes Varicose and SpiderVeins to Appear Non-functioning valves within a bloodvessel cause varicose veins. Veins returnblood back to the heart, but when a valvedoes not function properly, it causes bloodto flow backwards into the vein. This iscalled venous insufficiency and this back-ward flow causes vein enlargement. Spiderveins can develop for the same reason, butare further influenced by obesity, heredity, pregnancy and menopause.Signs of Vein Problems The symptoms are similar for varicoseand spider veins, but are typically more se-vere for varicose veins. Spider veins maycause minor burning or itching at the site.Varicose vein symptoms include leg achesor cramps, a feeling of leg heaviness, burn-ing, throbbing or tingling. Skin ulcers, espe-cially in the ankle area, are not uncommonwhen varicose veins are particularly severe.

Thanks to sales featur-ing heavily discounteditems, millions of peo-

ple wait to start their holidayshopping until the season hitsfull swing. But in spite of suchbargains, overextending budg-ets during the holiday season

is too tempting for many shop-pers to resist. However, shop-pers need not risk financialperil if they shop smartly andheed some dos and don’ts ofholiday shopping.

Do set a budget. Establishwhat you can afford to spend

on gifts and other seasonaltrimmings early on. TheNational Retail Federationestimates that the averageconsumer will spend around$700 come the holiday season. But not every person needs tobe a big spender. The “buy

now, pay later” mentality thatcredit cards offer lands manyshoppers in trouble, a stickysituation many only noticeonce the first bill comes due. Ifyou cannot afford to pay yourentire credit card balance offonce the bill arrives, you facesteep interest charges that canquickly add up. Instead, pick aset spending limit and keep toit no matter how tempting itmay seem to overspend with acredit card.

Don’t be fooled by falsesales. Retailers understandthat a good advertised deallures shoppers into theirstores. As a result, some retail-ers mark up the cost of certainitems in order to slash theprices for holiday sales. Even ifyou are saving the assumed 50

to 60 percent, the final cost ofthe item still may be higherthan normal. Comparisonshop and do your research soyou don’t fall victim to cleverpricing.

Do schedule time forshopping. Hectic schedulessometimes result in last-minute shopping that leads toimpulse purchases. Schedulesome distraction-free time foryour holiday shopping soyou’re less likely to rush intopurchases before thinkingthem through.

Don’t double buy. Someshoppers use the holidays as anexcuse to buy more for them-selves than the people on theirlists. While it’s tempting totreat yourself come the holi-day season, this is a great and

quick way to deplete yourbudget. If you plan on usingholiday deals to supplementyour own wardrobe or house-hold needs, reduce yourspending the rest of the yearand save money for year-endpurchases.

Do collect coupons andlook for purchasing incen-tives. Comparison shoppingnot only helps you get thebest price, but also it canshed light on coupons, ship-ping discounts and otherincentives that lower theoverall cost of products.Search online for Web sitesthat publish coupons andcodes for online discounts, including free shipping. Don’t be afraid to delay some pur-chases if need be. If hosting a post-holidaygathering where gifts will be exchanged,it’s perfectly acceptable to delay buyingthose gifts until after Christmas orChanukah, when many items can befound at even lower prices. Many storesreduce prices on merchandise comeDecember 26, so you can wait until afterthe holidays to shop for items that will beexchanged with distant friends and rela-tives. This enables you to save moremoney and use any received gift cardstoward shopping.

Do keep a level head. Some peopleforget the true meaning of the season isspending time with loved ones. Gettingswept away by shopping and worryingabout deadlines can make the season lessenjoyable. Don’t allow the stress of holi-day shopping to compromise an otherwisejoyous time of year.

Boston terrier: TheBoston terrier, also known asthe “Boston Bull,” is a com-pact brute of a dog. Althoughsmall in size, the Boston terri-er does not lack for personali-ty and tends to be playful andfriendly with a willingness tolearn. Bostons do require afirm human leader; otherwise, they may believe they run theshow.

These breeds are offeredas examples of good breeds forfirst-time dog owners. However, there are plenty ofother breeds out there thatwould make ideal pets, even

for the novice dog owner.Socialization, training andexercise are essential to shap-ing a dog into a trusted andhappy member of the family.

There’s a lot of talkabout social securitythese days. For many

of us, social security paymentsare a big part of retirementplanning. Here are answers toa few basic questions on socialsecurity.Q. When can I start drawingbenefits?A. You can start to draw yourstandard benefit when youreach your full retirement age. That’s at age 65 if you wereborn before 1938. Full retire-ment age increases progressive-ly to age 67 if you were born inlater years. But you can chooseto receive a reduced benefit anytime after you reach age 62.The earlier you start, the biggerthe reduction. Or you canincrease the size of your month-ly payment by delaying drawing

benefits beyond your retire-ment age.Q. Will my benefits be taxed?A.Whether you’ll have to payincome tax on the social securi-ty benefits you receive dependson your other income. If your“provisional income” exceedscertain thresholds, up to 50%of your social security benefitscould be subject to tax. Thiscan go up to 85% at higherincome levels. Generally, pro-visional income is your totalincome from all sources, including tax-exempt interest, plus one-half of your socialsecurity benefits.Q. What happens if I keepworking while receiving socialsecurity?A. If you’ve reached fullretirement age, you can keepworking without reducing

your benefits. But if you’redrawing benefits in the yearsbefore full retirement age andstill working, your benefitscould be reduced. Generally, you’ll lose $1 in benefits forevery $2 you earn above a cer-tain amount ($15,480 in2014). Different rules apply inthe year you actually reachyour retirement age. In a fewcases, continuing to workwhile you’re drawing benefitscan actually increase yourlater benefits.Q. How do I decide when tobegin drawing benefits? A. Deciding when to startdrawing benefits and when tostop working is a very person-al decision, but it’s critical foryour retirement planning. Wecan supply the numbers andexplain the tax issues to help

you make the right choices. For assistance, give us a call.

It’s Chanukah and in Israeland in many places aroundthe world Jews are lighting

candles in their window asnight falls. They’re adding alittle light to the world andreminding everyone of the mir-acles that happened to theirancestors so long ago.

Over two thousand yearsago, the Jews of Israel wereruled by the Greek conquerorsof Syria. Antiochus, the Greekking, wanted all of his subjectsto live like Greeks so he madelaws forbidding Jews to practicetheir religion by forbidding thestudy of the Torah or keepingthe mitzvot. The Jews revoltedand had a whole army fightingthe Greeks. After many longyears, the Jews finally threwthe Greek army out of thecountry. The first thing theydid as soon as they conqueredJerusalem was to rededicate the

Temple (Chanukah means“dedication”.) When theytried to light the menorah, allthey could find was enough oilto last them for one day. Tomake more oil would havetaken at least a week – eightdays more likely. A miraclehappened and the little jar ofoil burned for eight days.

Ever since then, Jewshave celebrated the victoryover the Greeks during theholiday of Chanukah. On thefirst night we light one candle,on the second night we lighttwo candles, and so on. By theeighth night we have eightcandles burning brightly, reminding us of the eight daysthat the oil burned in theTemple and of the Jewish strug-gle against oppression.

“Pirsumei nisa” or publi-cizing the miracle is a veryimportant custom on

Chanukah. We light the can-dles in a window or by a doorfacing the street so that every-

one passing by will see themand remember the miraclesthat happened. The special

menorah we use on Chanukahis called a “chanukiah” inHebrew. It has places for eightcandles and an extra place forthe “shamash” – the candle weuse to light all the other can-dles.

There’s an old custom ofgiving children gifts of coins onChanukah. Sometimes thecoins are real and sometimesthey are made of chocolate(gelt.) Since the miracle ofChanukah happened through ajar of oil, one way to rememberthe miracle is to eat foodscooked in oil duringChanukah. “Latkes,” or potatopancakes fried to a crispy, gold-en brown are one popularChanukah food. “Sufganiyot”or jelly donuts are another asthey are also fried in oil.

“Dreidels” are a favoritetoy on Chanukah. They arefour-sided tops with Hebrew

letters painted or carved on thesides. The letters – nun, gimel, heh, and shin stand for theHebrew words: “Nes gadolhayah sham” (A great miraclehappened there.) One way toplay dreidel is to spin it formoney. Everyone puts a coinor gelt in the pot, then theyspin the dreidel to see whowins: nun means nothing –you don’t have to put in anoth-er coin and you don’t get any-thing; gimel means you geteverything in the pot; hehmeans you get half of what is inthe pot; and shin means youhave to put one into the pot.In Israel, a dreidel is called a“sevivon.” The sevivon has a“peh” instead of a shin on oneside, so that the letters standfor “Nes gadol hayah poh” (Agreat miracle happened here.)Happy Chanukah!

cocoa, salt, and baking sodainto a bowl and set aside. Meltthe butter in a small saucepanand set aside.

Combine the eggs andsugar in the bowl of an electricmixer fitted with a whiskattachment. Set the bowl overa pan partially filled with sim-mering water. The watershould not touch the bowl.Using a whisk, beat the egg-sugar mixture until it feels verywarm to the touch and all ofthe sugar has dissolved.Immediately remove the bowlfrom the heat and transfer it tothe electric mixer.

Whip the egg-sugar mix-ture on medium speed for 3 to4 minutes until it triples in vol-ume and is very thick and light

colored. Add the vanilla andwhip 2 to 3 seconds longer toblend. Remove the bowl fromthe mixer and gently fold inthe flour-cocoa mixture.

Place about 1 ½ cups ofthe batter in a separate bowland fold in the melted butter.Do this gently, as you do notwant to overwork the batter.Fold this into the remainingbatter. Divide the batter evenlyamong the cupcake tins. Bakein the center of the oven for 20to 25 minutes, or until a tooth-pick or knife inserted in thecenter of one cupcake comesout clean. Remove and coolcompletely on a rack.

While the cupcakes arecooling, combine the heavycream with the confectioners’sugar and the remaining 2

tablespoons of cocoa, beat intosoft peaks, and set aside.

Remove the cupcakesfrom the tin and place them ondessert plates. Spoon thewhipped cream on top, dividethe raspberries among theplates and serve.

in the making, the focus of thecelebration has very clearsource material. In the pages ofscripture, we see what theevents of the first Christmaswere and why we still celebratethat night thousands of yearslater.

Most of us are aware ofthe story of Christmas. Thebaby Jesus is born inBethlehem to a young, newlymarried Jewish couple - Josephand Mary. But this is no normalbirth. Mary, a virgin, is told byan angel that the baby con-ceived in her is from the HolySpirit (Matthew 1:20). Thismiracle happened to fulfill theprophecy of Isaiah 7:14, “Thevirgin will be with child andwill give birth to a son, andthey will call him Immanuel.”The place of His birth is nocoincidence either. Theprophets were clear that thepromised Messiah would be

born in Bethlehem (Micah5:2). Joseph and Mary, after atrip to Egypt to escape theanger of Herod, make their res-idence in Nazareth by the Seaof Galilee - again, a fulfillmentof scripture (Isaiah 9:1-2).

So what’s the big deal?Apart from the miracle of a vir-gin having a son, what is sonoteworthy to commemorateChristmas over two thousandyears later? This is where thescriptures come alive with veri-fication for the joy that hasbeen celebrated all these years.

There is little debate overthe humanity of Jesus. Mostwould agree that at the veryleast, He was the world’s great-est teacher. We see in Him alucidity of thought and morali-ty that is present in no otherperson. As we look at Him inthe Gospels (Matthew, Mark,Luke and John) it is difficultnot to walk away with a deepsense that He was not just a

good man, but a perfecthuman.

But scripture does notleave us there. It goes on todescribe Jesus as not only a per-fect human, but also as God.This is where we stumble in ourmodern times, but scripture isclear. In Colossians 1:19, weread, “For God was pleased tohave all His fullness dwell inJesus.” In Colossians 2:9 Godtells us that “In Jesus, all thefullness of the Deity lives inbodily form.” Jesus was not justa fully perfect human, He wasfully perfect God. This is notjust the writings of His follow-ers. Jesus claimed to be God(John 10:30) and asserted theattributes of God (Mark 2:5-12). Interestingly, this was fore-told in the scriptures in Isaiah9:6. Note in this familiar versethat a child is born who will becalled ‘Mighty God’ and‘Everlasting Father.’ Both theseterms are used elsewhere in

Isaiah as a reference to God(Isaiah 10:20-21 and 64:8). So,in this verse we see God pre-dicting through Isaiah that theMessiah would be both Godand man.

But again, we are left withthe question, “So what.” If wetake the scriptures at face valuewe can clearly see that Jesuswas both God and man. Whatis the celebration all about? Inorder to understand that, wemust go back to Job.

Job 9:33-35 says in refer-ence to his relationship withGod, “If only there weresomeone to arbitrate betweenus, to lay his hand upon usboth, someone to removeGod’s rod from me, so that Histerror would frighten me nomore. Then I would speak upwithout fear of Him, but as itnow stands with me, I can-not.” Scripture teaches thatour imperfections separate usfrom a perfect God so that we

are all in Job’s dilemma - adesire to be in relationshipwith God but with no basis forthat relationship. That mayseem appalling to many butwe are comforted that God isalso appalled by our circum-stances. In Isaiah 59:16, Godsays that “He saw that therewas no one, He was appalledthat there was no one to inter-vene; so His own arm workedsalvation for Him and Hisown righteousness sustainedHim.” God was not satisfiedin leaving us in a hopelessrelationship. So He took onhumanity in the person ofJesus. On that first Christmasday in a manger, the desire ofJob was finally realized. Jesus, who could represent humans(because He was fully human)and God (because He wasfully God), was born tobecome the perfect mediator. He lived the perfect life thatwe cannot live and He took

on the punishment that wedeserved (we celebrate thaton Good Friday). It is throughJesus that we can receiverighteousness (or a rightstanding) before God.

How does that happen? The same way that Abrahamreceived righteousness.Genesis 15:6 says that“Abraham believed and it wascredited to him as righteous-ness.” There is nothing wecan do that causes God to oweus the righteousness fromJesus. Instead, we have to trustin Jesus - believe He is whoHe said He is and that whatHe did is sufficient to coverour imperfections. We arethen able to be in relationshipwith God - and not just fortoday but for eternity.

That’s good news!!That’s worth celebrating!!That’s what Christmas is real-ly all about!!

What is Christmas really?continued from page 1
