Consecration to the Holy Family

at St. Joseph Church

May 18 & 19

When Jesus came to save mankind, He was born into a family. Even though He was

truly God, He submitted Himself to the authority of His mother and His foster father, thus setting an example for all of us on how to be good children. We offer our family to Christ, and ask Him to help us to imitate the Holy Family so that, as a family, we can all enter Heaven. We ask Mary and Joseph to pray for us. Knights of Columbus Chapter 1131 is sponsoring this program. This program was presented at the Faith Formation meeting and meal on May 1.

The formal consecration will occur during Masses at St. Joseph on May 18 and 19.

It is suggested that all families pray together each day during the week prior to the Consecration.

Families are encouraged to fast from food or activities or perform acts of good will during the week prior to be more focused on God.

Family members are encouraged to go to confession during the prior week.

A special prayer will be recited together as a Parish Family during the Masses asking for the aid or intercession of the perfect son Jesus Christ, Mary the perfect Mother, and Joseph who is a model for every Father.

Congratulations to our First Communicants!

We encourage our parishioners to patronize our sponsors. It is through their generosity that our weekly bulletin comes to you at no cost to the church. Our sponsor this week is:

KIESEL ENTERPRISES

Thank you to all the businesses who sponsor our bulletin.

Heavenly Father,

from the beginning you have chosen to entrust

the human person to mothers in a special way.

We thank and praise you for the gift of mothers;

for their tenderness, care, and compassion,

for their intuition and encouragement,

for commitment and sacrifice.

Bless all mothers this day.

Keep, strengthen, and refresh them

in your loving care.

May they be blessed by our open-hearted

love and gratitude.

Amen.

Dear Family,

I hope everyone is having a blessed Easter season! I

wanted to let you know that I will be on vacation from

May 13 - 29. This is a little bit longer than I normally

would take for a vacation. I will be traveling overseas

to France and spending time there. I am traveling with

Fr. Travis Stephens. He is a friend from seminary, and

a priest of the Diocese of Lafayette. We have traveled

together since I have been ordained. This will be the

first vacation I have taken since arriving in the parish

where I will be gone for two consecutive weekends.

Every few years it is good to take a little extra time

off to recharge.

The first weekend we will be welcoming a missionary

from Food for the Poor. This organization does

critical work in helping those around the world who

suffer from hunger and lack of nutrition. The second

weekend we will be welcoming Fr. David Nunning. It

is always good to see him. He was an associate for

three years with Fr. Ed Schneider in Princeton in the

early 80s. He was at St. Joseph when the new church

was being built. I became friends to him when I was

assigned to the west side of Evansville.

Three great priests, Fr. Tony, Fr. Ambrose, and Fr.

Frank will be available in case of any pastoral needs

or funerals. I thank them for their generosity.

Always know of my prayers.

Christ’s Peace,

Fr. Brian
