The 740 range is resolutely cubic and at the same time

endlessly comfortable. This range fulfils the desire for archi-

tectural clarity with its fixed seat and back with lightweight

It combines the tradition of functional design with the charm

of casual seating comfort. The Conversation Chair from the

seventies frames the slide-in seat with its supporting struc-

Jason verbindet intelligentes Design mit der Ästhetik kon-sequenter Gestaltung. Basis und Armlehnen sind von klarer Geometrie. Dahinter das stützende Schild für den Rücken. Komfortable Kissen und der elastische Rücken sorgen für entspanntes Sitzen. Mit einer leicht bedienbaren Mechanik lassen sich die Armlehnen herunterklappen. Das Sofa verwandelt sich zur Liege.

Jason is a compelling range, intelligent and resolute in its

design. The base and armrests are clearly geometric. Behind,

there is a supportive shield for the back. Comfortable

cushions and the elasticised back ensure relaxed sitting. The

armrests fold down thanks to an easy-to-use mechanism.

The sofa can also be converted into a lounger.

Jason 391 ist Reduktion pur. Die Armlehnen der Sofas sind hier gegenüber dem Modell 390 schmaler ausgeführt, die Sitztiefe ist geringer. In dieser Version können die Arm-lehnen nicht umgeklappt werden. Gleich bleiben die Kon-zentration auf das Wesentliche und der hohe Sitzkomfort. Der fl exible Rücken bietet optisch ein schützendes Schild.

Jason 391 is a master of reduction. The armrests of the

sofas are more slim-line than those on Jason 390, the seating

space is smaller. This model does not feature fold-down

armrests. Both models concentrate on the essentials, ensur-

ing great seating comfort. Visually, the flexible back looks

like it is a protective shield.

The initial design idea determines the shape. Like a flower

stretching towards the light, the Bellows Chair stretches

out towards its owner with an invitation to sit down. The

conical body grows from a solid base and then opens up.

Innovative design has the courage to give shape to unusual

The collaboration between Lord Norman Foster, the world

1956 war Deutschland noch vom »Gelsenkirchener Barock« geprägt. Ganz Deutschland? Nein, ein kleiner Schalen-sessel trat an, die Formensprache der Epoche zu verändern. Seine Verbündeten kamen aus Skandinavien, dem Bauhaus und der Avantgarde. Nun ist der Sessel 369 wieder da. In der Classic Edition erinnert er daran, dass Walter Knoll schon oft für Avantgarde stand. Und gestern wie heute Design hervorbringt, das dauerhafte Gültigkeit besitzt.

In 1956, Germany was still being subjected to »rust belt

baroque«, a style of kitschy furniture. The whole of Germany?

No, because a small bucket seat appeared on the scene that

was to change the design of the age. Its allies came from

Scandinavia, the Bauhaus and the avant-garde. Now, the arm-

chair 369 is back. In the Classic Edition it reminds us of

the fact that Walter Knoll was often an advocate of the avant-

garde and that the company is still creating designs today

which will enjoy lasting validity.
