‘The Movement’ is a new music magazine that will be released monthly. It will focus on the genre of Hip-Hop/Soul across the genre, not just in the UK. It aims to bring together the music in this genre from the 90’s and Nought’s with the modern day Hip-Hop & Soul acts through interviews, album reviews and concert coverage.

The audience for my magazine is a very creative audience, the majority of them (75%) doing music for themselves in some way. They also see this magazine as a way to stay up to date with the industry that they follow, and also as a possible way that they could get into the industry. Because the average audience is both male and relatively young, they will be very up to date with technology, which means that the magazine must be able to provide them with music apps, must have a website and a lot of brand identity on things such as a radio show and sponsored events such as an awards show.

The artists to be featured in my magazine will be determined by the audiences; specifically their age and their tastes. It will be majority artists who’s career spans over the 90’s and the 2000’s. However there will be quite a few articles featuring artists from either side of those years, to cater for those members of the audience that listen to artists that are not heavily featured in this time period. Also, the artists will be majority underground, though there will be the fair amount of mainstream and crossover artists.
