Sport Clubs

When was your club established?Spring 2011 was our first semester.

How often do you practice? The club practices two times a week on thefield. Most of the guys go to the SRC duringtheir off days to lift weights or throw theball around.

Do you have to have prior rugby footballexperience to join the Rugby FootballClub? Not at all. In fact most of the current clubmembers just started playing this year.

How long is your season? The rugby season typically starts in the fallseason with tournaments and friendlies(September-November).The spring semesteris the beginning of conference play whereteams compete to go to the nationalchampionship in their respective division(February-April). Once the spring seasonends then the focus will turn to sevensrugby during the summer months. Most ofthose are tournaments set up around thesoutheast.

Are there any upcoming competitions theclub is preparing for?We have rugby sevens coming up in thesummer that we’re really looking forward to.

How much does the club travel? The team typically has an equal number ofhome games and away games.Away gamesrange from within the state of Georgia toother colleges around the southeast inAlabama, South Carolina,Tennessee andFlorida. If the team progresses to nationals, then the team may be required to travel tothe Northeast, Midwest, orWest.

Where can students go if they areinterested in joining the club?Anyone can e-mail our secretary Greggory([email protected]) if they haveany questions about the game or would liketo join our practices. We would love to havenew guys to come out any time.
