Dear Friends, This weekend we are asking everyone to pledge a sacrificial offering to the House of Charity. I went online to the House of Charity website and made my pledge. My plan is to use ten payments to complete my pledge. I am personally grateful for the good works House of Charity does for people. In 1988, at the age of 34, my mother suffered a massive stroke that put her into a coma. She spent three years at Bishop McCarthy Residence in Vineland before her death in 1991. My brothers, sisters and I would visit her frequently. During that time, we couldn’t take care of her – so the nursing home was the most com-passionate choice. Sometimes I visited her once a week, sometimes more. Each time I found her clean and comfortable. Knowing the sisters and staff were taking good care of her was reassuring. I also knew that those who donated to the House of Charity were supporting my mother and our family in her care. I am forever grateful. That is a big reason why I will always support House of Charity. Please be as generous as you can – it does make a loving difference. God bless you! Fr. Michael Field

Fui en el internet al sitio de web de la casa de la caridad y hice mi compromiso. Mi plan es usar diez pagos para completar mi compromiso. Estoy personalmente agradecido por las buenas obras que la Casa de la Caridad hace por la gente. En 1988, a la edad de 34 años, mi madre sufrió un golpe masivo que la puso en una coma. Ella pa-só tres años en la residencia del obispo McCarthy en Vineland antes de su muerte en 1991. Mis hermanos, hermanas y yo la visitábamos con frecuencia. Nursing Ministry

Do you have concerns about falling? Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities. A Matter of Balance is an award-winning program de-signed to manage falls and in-crease activity levels. This pro-gram emphasizes practical strategies to manage falls. You will learn to:

view falls as controllable

set goals for increasing activity

make changes to reduce fall risks at home

exercise to increase strength. Who should attend:

anyone concerned about falls

anyone interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength

anyone who has fallen in the past

anyone who has restricted activities because of falling concerns.

This will take place at St. Bridget Church Hall. The cost is free and refreshments will be served. This is an 8-session program with new infor-mation and techniques being introduced each week. Come Pray, Reflect & Laugh! February 10 – 12, 2017

This weekend is intended for Young Adults (age 22 to 35, married or single) who want to examine their personal faith, in relation to God, self, co-workers and others. There will be time for Eucharist, prayer experiences, reflection, faith sharing and social interaction. Schedule: Friday dinner is at 6:30 PM to Sunday, no later than 2:00 PM. 2017 Bereavement Winter Sessions

Bereavement winter sessions are held every Monday 7:00 PM and last until 8:30 PM at Our Lady Hall on Morris Avenue in Pitman. These sessions will take place eve-ry Monday through February.

This year we have a couple student-led small groups that meet at various locations around campus to talk about their faith, explore the Scriptures, and encounter Jesus in a community. These groups meet weekly and are a great introduction to our student Catholic community. Wednesday Newman Night This Wednesday at 6:30 PM at the Newman House! Who is Blessed Oscar Romero? Patrick Cashio, Director of the Romero Center in Camden, NJ will be sharing with us about the life of Blessed Oscar Romero, the Salvador-an martyr from the 1980s who lived a radical life of service to the poor. Take the URBAN CHALLENGE over Spring Break. Do something different. The Urban Challenge Program is a week-long urban service-learning immersion experi-ence rooted in the Catholic faith tradition. Delve into the heart of Camden through service experiences, reflections, social justice education and hearing the stories of those who are less fortunate, poor or addicted. Habrá tiempo para la Eucaristía, experiencias de oración, reflexión, com-partir la fe y la interacción social.
