Iptim overview• Iptim (Integrated Planning and Timberland Management) is
a web-based forest planning system developed by Simosol• Widely used in Finland by different forest companies• Deployment options:
• Standalone application with graphical user interface• Direct Web Service API for customized configurations
• More information about the Iptim http://www.iptim.com/
Review Meeting 1 Feb 17
Iptim core features• Tools for managing and analysing forest inventory data and
stand databases• Tools for modelling forest growth• Tools for generating forest management plans taking into
account the user's objectives and constraints• Growth models and harvesting parameters can be calibrated
by user

Iptim desktop application
Review Meeting 1 Feb 17
Iptim web service API• Iptim web service uses the same calculation platform and
models as Iptim desktop application • The web service API adopts the SOAP protocol for
communication• Finnish Forest Data standard is used for forestry data
• Very scalable standard for different purposes• Iptim web service is an asynchronous service
• No direct response• Iptim will put data to calculation queue and return
results when calculations are ready• Specific API documentation can be found on deliverable
D5.05 report
Review Meeting 1 Feb 17
Iptim web service API• One request that calculates forest growth to present
state and generates harvesting/sales plan.
