Twin Filter Oilfield Division is part of Twin Filter BV and the Velcon / Twin Filter Group. Twin Filter BV is an independent, 100% Dutch company founded in 1985.The Oilfield Division is active all over the world. We design and manufac-ture filtration solutions for the oilfield and petrochemical industries.

WHY FILTRATION?

Costs of environmental protection are key issues for oilfield operations. Efficiency, reliability and maximum performance are of the utmost importance. The main concern in oilfield filtration is to prevent reservoir damage. Many contaminants can plug off the reservoir / production zones during completion and water injection. Filtration will protect the reservoir from contaminants, including bacteria, scale, clay, rust, etc. Current environmental laws are becoming more stringent and are aiming for zero discharge. Many waste treatment technologies will not meet the discharge levels of the future. Twin Filter offers a solution for the removal of more than 99% of all hydrocarbons and emulsions from water streams. Twin Filter provides total filtration solutions to the oilfield industry.

OVERVIEW

PRODUCED WATER / OILY WASTE WATER TREATMENT As water is present in all hydrocarbon-bearing rock strata, produced water is by far the largest waste stream associated with oil and gas production.

The water-to-oil ratio increases over the life of a conventional oil or gas well.Moreover, in many cases optimization requires re-injection of water.Generally, the produced water includes a mixture of hydrocarbons and solids, such as sand or silt. It can also contain fluids and additives from exploration and production activities.

The costs of handling, treating and disposing of produced water in an environmental responsible way are substantial.

Nutshell Filter

TWIN FILTER SOLUTIONS TWIN FILTER SOLUTIONS

The first stage of pre-filtration: SS316L filter vessel with 50 filter cartridge of each 40inch length. These cartridges will remove of all the dirt particles > 2 micron, each element can remove 1.5 lbs of dirt. The filter vessel is equipped with a differential pressure gauge to monitor when the cartridge need to bechange out at 40 psi.

Than the second stage coalesce: SS316L filter vessel with 3 coalescer elements of each 30inch length. These elements will remove of most of the free oil by coalescing to the top of the vessel. The vessel is equipped with a level switch which controls a 1/2inch drain valve for automatically removing the oil. A coalescer element can not guarantee any effluent because the influent of this system is fluctuating. Therefore we would strongly recommend to use Oilblock absorption cartridge as a third stage to be sure the effluent is < 10 mg/ltr.

And as last the third stage absorption: SS316L filter vessel with 50 oil absorption cartridges of each 40inch length. This is the stage to change the elements. Up to 40 psi dp the cartridge show a effluent of <2ppm of oil (emulsified).

TWIN FILTER SOLUTIONS Twin Filter offers solutions for the produced water process. There are three stages for this process: primary treatment, secundary treatment and tertiary treatment. The primary treatment of produced water in itself involves multiple technologies – from upstream sand removal utilising solid/liquid hydrocyclones at wellhead conditions through multi-phase separators and collection vessels to further solid/liquid and liquid/liquid hydrocyclones. After primary treatment of produced water gives the first oil cut, the secondary treatment conditions produced water and solids in preparation for discharge or further polishing. Primary and secondary water treatment systems will meet 90% of

DCC The Dynamic Centrifugal Coaleser (DCC) increases the performance of produced water separation systems. It is a combination of centrifugal forces and coalescing effect. An element consisting of thousands of PTFE tubes (pore size 1.5 mm) rotates inside a pump. Because of the centrifugal forces, the droplets of the oil phase coalesce on the walls of the tubes. Oil droplets as small as 1 micron are collected and droplets up to 100 micron are created. The DCC is a non-plugging coalescing technology and a proven solution technology for increasing performance of produced water treatment.

BENEFITS

• Straightforward technology, based on centrifugal pumps • No absorbers, chemicals or consumables needed • Collects droplets down to 1 micron • Improves downstream separators up to 90% • Wide operating window, with respect to volume flow, pressure, temperature, specific gravity and oil concentration • Applicable for all oil/water separators • Compact design • Single units cover up to 12.000 bbl/day (2000 m3/ day) • Limited capex and opex requirements • Long operating life & minimal maintenance

ABSORPTION The last step, in the cleaning process is polishing with Twin Filter oil absorption elements. These elements will absorb the last free and emulsified oils to reach the required specifications. Twin Filter has developed the Oilblock and the Oilclog cartridges. These two types of cartridges are specifically designed and manufactured for produced water treatment at oil & gas production facilities. They obtain a high efficiency removal of free and dissolved hydro carbons (TPH) and emulsified oils from water. These cartridges are applicable for our filter equipment. BENEFITS

• Low capital investment • Removal of dissolved and hydrofied hydrocarbons • High absorption capacity, low waste volume • High efficiency, no polish treatment required • No direct contact with saturated media during handling • No additional chemicals required • Reliable and simple system, no maintenance • Easy handling and operation • Fit into existing cartridge filter units

TWINZAPP Destabilization and separation of oil emulsions and suspended oils without use of chemicals Chemical emulsions in produced water are causing problems to separate hydrocarbons from water. Corrosion inhibitors are protecting all water lines against corrosion but also form very difficult emulsions. De-emulsifiers are injected in high concentration to break emulsions in produced water. In many occasions the chemicals are over-dosed and do create even more problems. Twin Filter developed a system without the use of chemicals to break these emulsions. The overboard water, when the treatment system includes a TwinZapp unit, contains mostly less than 5 ppm of oil.

Twin Filter Oilfield Division is part of Twin Filter BV and the Velcon / Twin Filter Group. Twin Filter BV is an independent, 100% Dutch company founded in 1985.The Oilfield Division is active all over the world. We design and manufac-ture filtration solutions for the oilfield and petrochemical industries.

Our manufacturing facilities for equipment and consumables are strategically based in The Netherlands, close to Schiphol Airport and the Port of Rotterdam. Our engineers, with field experience, are constantly improving and designing new iltration solutions. Twin Filter is ISO 9001 certified.

WHY FILTRATION?

Costs of environmental protection are key issues for oilfield operations. Efficiency, reliability and maximum performance are of the utmost importance. The main concern in oilfield filtration is to prevent reservoir damage. Many contaminants can plug off the reservoir / production zones during completion and water injection. Filtration will protect the reservoir from contaminants, including bacteria, scale, clay, rust, etc. Current environmental laws are becoming more stringent and are aiming for zero discharge. Many waste treatment technologies will not meet the discharge levels of the future.
