SALES & DISTRIBUTION

Wide Open Agriculture (WOA) has successfully launched a direct-to-consumer vegetable box scheme in four Wheatbelt towns and Scarborough. The distribution strategy has increased sales revenue and recorded positive feedback from Wheatbelt and Perth-based consumers. Accompanying the box scheme, WOA has commenced sales arrangements with large-scale wholesalers for specific lines including roma and round tomatoes.

PRODUCTION

WOA’s growing technology has proven to grow high-value crops in Wheatbelt summer conditions. The first crops, planted in 41C conditions, have produced high yielding herbs, cucumbers, tomatoes (round, roma, cherry and grape) and capsicum. The high yields are occuring during non-growing periods for traditional growing areas such as the Gasgoyne region. This demonstrates WOA’s potential to grow vegetables during periods of limited local supply.

• Three zone plan finalised for land asset in Buntine

The three zone plan includes an economic, mixed and nature zone for WOA’s Buntine property. The plan was finalised with expert inputs from ex-CSIRO researcher (Dean Revell), award-winning biological farmer (Stuart McAlpine) and Greening Australia’s Wheatbelt team. The plan demonstrates a financially-rewarding, low risk and climate responsive approach to regenerative farming in the northern Wheatbelt. In Q3, over 60,000 new shrubs will be planted in the mixed zone of the land asset.
