PASTORATE MASS SCHEDULE

Father Logsdon logging in… Note to you who are members of St. Joseph and Saint Mary, this article may sound familiar. Some of you know me and some of you don’t know me yet, and this could be a problem, or it could be a great adventure. The difference is our mindset. I could personally choose to ignore the 45,615 souls that Bishop has entrusted to me. I could minister to the around 750 families that are actively involved, but that is not what I am called and ordained to be here in Jay and Randolph Coun-ties. I have been assigned here to care for the souls of each and everyone in this two county Pastorate. That may sound like too much for two priests, and I agree. This is where our knowledge of one another comes in; we actually need to know one another on a deep spiritual level. We will have knowledge of one another through social interactions, and we will get to know each other on a deeper level in the common communal life that we share in worship and sacraments. As Americans we live certain values and share many common views (not every point of view is shared because we are Americans). As Catholics, our faith unites us on a much deeper level. This is the way that we as a pastorate community should know each other. Our common Faith Tradition make every individual a part of the “we”. The closer we grow in our knowledge of Christ, the more we will know each oth-er. The church is the bride of Christ, and we must learn that intimacy with out Bride-groom will draw us closer together as the Body of Christ. I look forward to getting to know each one of you in the coming weeks. A short introduction to me. I was born in California, spent many of my summers working on the farm in North Da-kota. I received an associates degree in physical therapy, and a bachelor of science degree in psychology from the University of North Dakota. I worked 12 years as a physical therapy assistant prior to entering seminary in 2008. I was ordained in 2014, and was assigned to Our Lady of Grace in Noblesville prior to being assigned in Randolph County. My mother, three sisters, and brother all still live in California. I have practiced martial arts since 1990, for my physical health. And finally, while most people don’t believe it, I am a functional introvert.

Spiritual Direction Corner

—————————-

Welcome to the new section of our bulletin,

called spiritual direction. In this area, we will address some of the concerns that

people have spiritually. We may cover such issues as

demons, invoking the dead, praying for the

dead, the Ignatian spiritual exercises, and how to discern God‘s will for our lives. Fr. Logsdon is beginning

classes in Spiritual Direction and this is

one way to share insights on the spiritual

life. Please consider submitting your own

questions and I will try to address them. Stay

tuned.

Holy Trinity parish

My name is JoEllen Johnston and I am the new Operations Manager for the Jay and Ran-

dolph Catholic Pastorate. I have been a member at Immaculate Conception, Portland since 2004

but my husband and his family are lifelong parish members. I am married to Ron Johnston and

have two children and three grandchildren. Megan Shawver, our daughter, lives in Valdosta,

Georgia and has two daughters, Olivia (14) and Sophia (11). Tyler, our son, (wife Kelsey) lives in

Yorktown and they have one daughter, Marin (1).

I am a graduate of Ball State University with a major in Accounting. I recently retired from

Frank Miller Lumber in Union City where I was their VP Chief Financial Officer for nineteen

years. After seven months of retirement it has become apparent to me that I retired but I am not

tired. I have very fond feelings for Randolph County and am looking forward to the continued

Randolph County connections. My family also has ties to the Trinity parish as well. My mother-

in-law (Aletha Remaklus Johnston) attended school/ church at Trinity.

I look forward to the new challenge and ask for your patience and prayers.

Director of Evangelization I was raised in Shirley Massachusetts to a Catholic French family and hold many fond memories of growing up in England. {Warning—I have a slight accent}. I moved to Fort Wayne in 1978 and have been employed at Lutheran Life Villages for the past forty-one years where I served as the Safety Compliance Officer for the Anthony Location. I have three sons: Joel, Daniel, and Seth. All who now have families of their own and have blessed me with twelve grandchildren who call me Pe’pe {French for grandpa}. I retired from the Fort Wayne National Guard in 2002 where I served as an Aerospace Ground Mechanic. Yes, I am a Black Snake, but not the evil one mentioned in Genesis. I received my commission from the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana as an Ecclesial Lay Minister in 2012. I also completed Education for Ministry from the Diocese of Fort Wayne/South Bend 2013. I made my profession as a Secular Franciscan in 2018 and now serve as their Formation Director. However, I was not named after Saint Francis of Assisi but named after the great missionary Saint Francis Xavier. I hope to meet and introduce myself to everyone personally. Pax Et Bonum.
