MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents/Guardians, SCHOOL COUNCIL All government schools in Victoria are governed by a school council. Key School Council responsibilities include financial management, facilities management, whole school policy and planning amongst other things. In accordance with the Department of Education and Training – Victoria (DET) regulations, School Council Elections must take place before the 31st March. Our current council is made up Parent Members: 7 DET members: 2 Members are elected for a two year period with half the membership standing down each year. As a consequence, we now have the following vacancies: Parent Members: 2 DET members: 1 The nomination process is now open, please see the separate notice sent home last Friday, for more information and nomination forms can be collected from the office. Please note: the current school council meets every third Wed of the month at 9.15am but this can be negotiated with the newly elected council if required. STAFFING UPDATE

We welcome Lisa Humplik to our school as the new business Manager for this year. Lisa is replacing Penny Battaglia, we welcome her to SAHPS.

THANK YOU A big thank you to Silvia Amici from the Community Hub for organising the second hand uniform sale. Lots of parents were able to purchase good quality second hand uniforms and we raised $100 to go back into Community Hub programs. Also to Coral Grant our Librarian for organising a CPR/Asthma training update for staff last week after school, to ensure we are prepared for any emergencies. OPEN CLASSROOM SESSIONS All families are invited to visit their child’s classroom and meet their teacher on Wednesday 27th of Feb from 3.35-4.35pm. Staff will be providing a brief overview of the expectations for this year and you will have a chance to ask any questions. We look forward to seeing as many families as possible attend. DROP OFF AND PICK UP TIMES Under DET guidelines the school provides supervision in the yard from 8.30am until school starts and after school until 3.30pm. To this effect there are staff members on yard duty from 8:30 each morning and 3:30 in the afternoon. We ask that parents do not drop off their children before 8.30am and that they collect their children from school before 3.30pm. Staff usually have meetings to attend and preparation for the following day to complete. Your assistance with this matter would be greatly appreciated. IT’S NOT OK TO BE AWAY It is important that students attend school every day and that they remain at school for the entire day. Where possible please do not make appointments for your child during the day or pick them up early as this disrupts their learning. SCHOOL UNIFORM

It is very important for safety reasons and in order to develop a sense of pride and culture that all students are in the correct school uniform. Black (or other coloured) leggings, shorts and long sleeve tops are not appropriate. All students must be in the correct navy school uniform and wear a SunSmart hat when out in the yard.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR SCHOOL LEADERS Well done to the following students who received their leadership badges at assembly last week. I look forward to working with these students over the coming year to achieve great outcomes for our school. Our leaders are expected to be excellent role models for our school and should demonstrate the school values of; Belonging, Teamwork, Honesty and Respect in all that they do. ACCIDENT INSURANCE The Department of Education and training does not provide personal accident insurance for students. Parents are responsible for paying the costs of any medical treatment for injured students, including transport or ambulance costs. Insurance policies are available through commercial insurers for those who may be interested. PERSONAL ITEMS AT SCHOOL The Department of Education does not hold insurance for personal property brought to schools. Principals are requested to remind families of this at the beginning of each academic year. Please avoid bringing unnecessary and/or valuable items to school as it can be quite distressing if these items get damaged or lost. Mobile phones should be handed in to the office for safe keeping throughout the day. MEDICAL ACTION PLANS These have been sent home to relevant families, please return all forms as a matter of urgency. All students who have asthma and/or anaphylaxis must have a plan documented by their GP. I thank you for your cooperation with this matter. BPAY Please be advised that the school offers BPAY as an alternate method of payment. Please come to the office

EFTPOS

We have EFTPOS facilities available at the office for payments. A minimum of $10 per transaction.

MEDICATION AT SCHOOL Sometimes your child may need to take medication at school. For staff to give medication there is an important form you must fill in. We cannot give it to your child without it. Please ask at the Office if you require a form.Thank you Coral.

iPad Program We are taking orders for student owned iPads. Order forms are available at the front office. A payment plan

can be made to suit your needs while the student is able to use the iPad at school.

STUDENT WELLBEING: Could we please ask all parents and carers to make sure you have provided the school with your current

contact numbers. This information is important in the event that your child is unwell or we need to chat to

you regarding your child. Please speak to our Admin Team to ensure your information is up to date.

CÁC NGÀY QUAN TRỌNG Thứ tư, 27/ 2 : Thăm lớp từ 3giờ 35 – 4giờ 35 Thứ hai, 11/ 3: Nghỉ lễ Labour Day Thứ sáu, 15/ 3: Ngày chống bức hiếp và bạo lực LỜI NHẮN GỞI CỦA BÀ HIỆU TRƯỞNG Hội Đồng Nhà Trường Tất cả các trường học trong tiểu bang Victoria được điều hành bởi Hội-đồng nhà trường. Hội đồng trường có những trách nhiệm chánh yếu gồm có việc vận dụng tài chánh, vận dụng các thiết bị, tham dự vào việc lên kế hoạch chính sách của trường. Để phù hợp với bộ Giáo dục và Huấn nghệ, các quy địng của sở giáo dục Victoria, việc bầu cử hội đồng, cần phải được tổ chức trước ngày 31 tháng 3. Hội đồng gồm có: Thành viên từ phụ huynh : 7 người Thành viên từ sở GD (DET) : 2 Các thành viên nay được bầu ra dể hoạt động trong 2 năm. Nhà trường hiện có mầy thành viên cần điền khuyết gồm hai phụ huynh và một thành viên từ sở giao dục (DET)Phụ huynh có thể đề cử hay ứng cử bây giờ. Xin phụ huynh đọc giấy thông báo đã gởi về gia đình hôm thứ sáu. Đơn đề cử có tại văn phòng. Xin lưu ý Hội đồng trường họp ngày thứ tư mỗi tháng từ 9giờ 15. Nhưng mà có thể dàn xếp lại với hội đồng mới. Nhân viên trường: Xin chào mừng cô Lisa Humplik đã được bổ dụng lam nhân viên Quang lý tài chánh (Business Manager) của trường, thay thế cô Penny Battaglia. Cám Ơn: Xin cám ơn Silvia Amici rất nhiều đã tổ chức bán áo quần đồng phục cũ. Rất nhiều phụ huynh có thể mua đồng phục cũ nhưng còn rất tốt. Community Hub gây được 100$ để dung cho cộng đồng. Cũng xin cám ơn Coral Grant quan thủ thu viện đã huấn luyện giáo bang cách chăm sóc khẩn cấp khi có sự cố xảy ra. Lớp Học mở Phụ Huynh đến Thăm: Phụ huynh có thể đến thăm lớp và trò chuyện với giáo viên cuả con mình ngày thứ tư, 27/ 2 từ 3giờ 35 – 4giờ 45. Giáo bang sẽtổ chức một buổi khảo sát về những mong đợi tổng quan của phụ huynh cho năm nay và phụ huynh có cơ hội hỏi những câu hỏi . Nhà trường mong được gặp phụ huynh. Giờ Đưa và Đón con Theo qui định thì nhà trường trông coi học sinh, buổi sang từ 8giờ 30 đến 3giờ 30 chiều. Phụ huynh không nên đem con đến trường trước 8giờ 30 và đến đón con sau 3giờ 30. Sau 3giờ 30 giáo viên thường hay có những buổi họp và bận soạn bài cho ngày kế tiếp.. Xin phụ huynh vui lòng hổ trợ nhà trường về việc này. Vấn Đề Nghi Học - Điều quan trọng là học sinh cần phải đi học thường xuyên và ở tại trường suốt buổi học. Xin phụ huynh đừng làm những buổi hẹn ( vi du như đi bác sĩ v.v.) trong giờ học và không đến đón con sớm vì như thế sẽ làm cản trở sự học tập. Đồng Phục – Vì vấn đề an toàn và để cho con em cảm thấy hảnh diện về trường học của mình, học sinh cần phải mặc đầy đủ đồng phục. Học sinh không được mặc quần bó “leggings” hay áo ngắn tay hay dài tay đen hay màu khác. Học sinh cũng cần phải đội nón khi chạy chơi ngoài trời. Bảo Hiểm - Sở Giáo duc không cung cấp dịch vụ bảo hiểm cho cá nhân cho học sinh.. Phụ huynh phải trả phí tổn như là tiền xe cứu thương v.v. Nếu muốn phụ huynh có thể mua bảo hiểm qua các hãng bảo hiểm (commercial insurers ) Các Vật Dụng Cá Nhân - Sở Giáo dục không bảo hiểm cho các vật dụng cá nhân mang đến trường. Học sinh không đem vật dụng đắt tiền.và không cần thiết đến trường. Điện thoại di động thì phải để tại văn phòng. Kế Hoạch Phòng Ngừa – Medical Action Plans - Bản kế hoạch này chỉ gởi về nhà cho gia đình nào cần thiết – Khi phụ huynh điền phiếu này xong thì cần phải gởi trả lại trường càng sớm càng tốt. Ngày Soạn thảo Chương Trình 2019 – Thứ sáu, 07/ 6 Thứ hai, 15/ 7 ( ngày đầu tiên học kỳ 3) Thứ hai, 04/ 11 SỰ AN TOÀN CỦA HỌC SINH - Trường tiểu học St Albans Heights PS (SAHPS) theo đuổi chính sách giữ an toàn cho tất cả học sinh. Sự hà hiếp không được chấp nhận và nhà trường triệt để chống việc hà hiếp. Xin phụ huynh đọc thêm phần tiếng Anh.
