SPECIFICATION FORQUINALPHOS GRANULES
( First Revision)
o. FORE WORD{l.1 This Indian Standard (First Revision ) was adopted by the IndianStandards Institution on 31 March 1987, after the draft finalized bythe Pest Control Sectronal Committee had heen approved by theAgricultural and Food Products DIvISIOn Council and the ChemicalDivision Council.
{l.2 Quinal phos granules are widely used in the control of agriculturalpests.
0.3 Ouinalphos granules are generally manufactured to contain 5 percent(m/m) of quinalphos.
0.4 This standard was first published In 1980. Subsequently an amendment was Issued In this revision references have been updated andmethod of test modified.
0.5 In the preparation of this standard due consideration has been givento the provisions of the Insecnctdes Act, 1968 and the rules framedthereunder. However, this standard is subject to the restrictions Imposedunder these, wherever apphcable.
0.6 For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of thisstandard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysts, shall be rounded off III accordance WIth IS : 2-1960*. The number of sigmficant places retained inthe rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified valuein this standard.
1. SCOPE
1.1 This standard prescribes the requirements, and the methods of samphng and test for qumalphos granules.

2. REQUIREMENTS
2.1 Constitnents - The material shall consist of quinalphos, technical,as the only active ingredient impregnated on a carrier together withbinderfs), stabilizer(s) and/or other formulants
2.1.1 Quinalphos technical, employed in the formulation of thismaterial, shall conform to IS : 8072·1984'.
2.1.2 Blank granules employed in the formulation of this method shallbe conforming to IS: 9666-1980t.
2.2 Physical - The material shall comply with the physical requirementsspecified in 2.2.1 to 2.2.5.
2.2.1 Description - The product shall consist of dry, free flowinggranules. free from visible extraneous matter and dust except for theamount specified ( see 2.2.3). It may contain added colouring matter.
2.2.2 Sieving Requirement - Not less than 97 percent by mass of theproducts shall pass through a test sieve having a mesh sieve of the upperdeclared hrnit and not more than 5 percent by mass of the product shallpass through a test sieve having a mesh sieve of lower declared limitwhen determined by the method described in 12.1 of IS : 6~40-1982:j:
[ see 3.2(a1 ].
2.2.2.1 The ratio of lower to upper lrrrut of sieve sizes givenunder 2.2.2 shall not exceed I : 3
2.2.3 DU<I - When determined by the method described in 12.1 ofIS: 6940-1982t. not more than I 0 percent by mass of the product shallpass through 7'-mlcron IS Sieves The material retained on the test sieveshall comply with the requirements of 2.3.1.
2.2.4 Storage Stability
2.2.4.1 Heat stability - After storage at 54 ± 2°C for 24 hoursthe product shall continue to comply WIth the requirements of 2.2.1to 2.2.3, 2.3.1 and 2.3.2.
