The chapter has just completed another successful RUSH experience. We have officially inducted 21 new pledges, and are off to a great pledging semester. The theme for this semester's RUSH was NFL/football. It started off with tabling and recruiting potential brothers of Psi Omega, and with the help of Membership Vice President Adrina Burney, the chapter was able to reach a significant amount of students at the University of Central Florida. Some of the RUSH events included a Lake Claire BBQ, a sundae funday, creating comfort kids, and also writing letters for Give Kids the World. At the end, everyone celebrated at Bid Day, and became inducted as new Alpha Phi Omega pledges. Throughout the entire process, brothers were able to meet and have fun with a great group of new students. All brothers gave a great effort to make sure that the new pledges/potential brothers felt welcomed in as part of the family. Psi Omega is excited to move forward as the pledging semester commences, and Dana Siler, the Pledge Master, is delighted to be working and guiding a great group of students. With the principles of leadership, friendship and service as a guide, the chapter is thrilled to be growing and evolving in new and fulfilling ways. ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT

At UCF or ient at ion t hey d r i l led in t o us, ' Get involved on cam pus! '

"I grew up loving the wacky shenanigans of Animal House and other fraternity movies, and knew I hated the concept of a sorority (sorry, not ready for that much estrogen in one place), so when I stumbled upon a student organization at the freshman ice cream social that would let me be in a fraternity and do cool service projects and get involved on campus and around my new Orlando home, I jumped at it. Or rather, the MVP, Renee, had to call me up on induction night to remind me it was starting 5 minutes ago. A hurried run across campus and one slightly awkward ceremony later, my life changed for the better.

Through Psi Omega, I met and became friends with people I would have never talked to otherwise. I went to places in Orlando I would have never have seen, and I helped people I would not have known needed help. I have traveled to cities, and met brothers I did not know I had. I inherited a whole network of couches to crash on, and new friends to meet when I travel. APO gave me a

purpose during my college years besides just classwork and grades. It kept me sane when school was frustrating, and it gave me support when I was dealing with health and family issues. It gave me so much in the 6 years I was active, so I kept going after graduation in order to return the favors.

Now, I'm a Chapter Advisor, former CAC, and Region IV Communications Chair. No, I don't aspire to be Section Chair or anything that lofty. Although, if called upon when no one else would, I'd do it to serve my fraternity in any way possible. To the pledges, I say take every opportunity you can to enjoy your time as an active. Explore, learn, and try. You never know what you'll learn about yourself or others. I never camped a day in my life before my pledge semester retreat, and now, I love it! And also remember, at the end of the day, no matter what family or line you're in, we're all brothers, and we should remember that above all, we're Alpha Phi Omega, always and forever."

FRIENDSHIP by Alexandria Blackledge

SERVICE by Natasha Garcia

The foundation of Alpha Phi Omega was guided by the principle of leadership. To be a leader is to excel and guide others towards achieving a goal. So far this semester, brothers have become leaders in new domains, and inspired other members in the chapter to lead as well. Adrina Burney pledged in Fall of 2014 and has already taken on the responsibility of Membership Vice President. She has taken the RUSH experience to another level by innovating new ways to recruit

members, all while being the driving force behind the induction of 21 new pledges this fall. Also, when the fraternity needed him most, Michael Morrison took over the role of Fellowship Vice President for the Fall 2015 semester. Overall, Psi Omega has demonstrated the universal, cross-cultural and multidimensional skill of leadership. The chapter is excited to see the leaders the brothers of Psi Omega will become in the global community.

?I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let's face it, friends make life a lot more fun.? This past month, Jesenia Zapata has exemplified the principle of friendship by the way she lightens up a room. Jesenia is one of those outgoing people who can bring others into a conversation with a friendly smile and positive attitude.

Jesenia is a brother who will be there to sincerely listen to anyone for anything. Above all that, she inspires her chapter to practice the principle of brotherhood.

On Sept. 20, a handful of brothers dedicated their night to the children at Give Kids The World Village. According to their official website, the Village is a 79-acre, nonprofit resort that provides free ?storybook? vacations for children with life-threatening illnesses. Our motivated brothers assisted with serving dinner to the bright and smiling kids as well as their supportive families.

?Being able to talk and interact with these kids and their families was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life,? says Dana Siler, a brother of Psi Omega. For brothers who were not able to make the service project and wish to make a difference, Give Kids The World Village allows for donations on their website as well as other volunteer opportunities throughout the year.
