Sapienza University of Rome
MAster oN SUstainable development and Renewable energy
MAIN OBJECTIVE:to improve the capacities of 3 Jordanian Universities on renewable energies and energy efficiency (REEE), training new experts prepared for the labour market.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: to establish and credit a Master Course following the
Bologna requirements to join companies, public administrations and Universities to improve and diffuse REEE in public and private buildings,
according to the National Energy Plan.
WP 1 - NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL NETWORK (NIN)WP 2 - ANALYSIS OF TRAINING NEEDSWP 3 - MASTER COURSE PLANNING AND SET UPWP 4 - MASTER COURSE IMPLEMENTATIONWP 5 - MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIONAL STRUCTURESWP 6 - PROJECT ASSURANCE AND EFFICIENCYWP 7 - EXPLOITATION OF RESULTSWP 8 - DISSEMINATION AND PROMOTION
WP 1 National and International Network
Try to change the World, but
TAQA Network 19 members:
Companies, Universities, Associations and the Network for Jordanian Industrial Sustainability
don’t make it alone …Obstacles:• Limited number of official stakeholders in the field of
renewables and energy efficiency in Jordan;• Low interest of European companies to establish a
contact with Jordanian context;
How we face the obstacles:• (Solution) Joining to Industrial Sustainability Network
to improve National and International connection…
Obstacles:• Limited number of official stakeholders involved in the
monitoring;• Absence in the 2011 of a real market on RE also due at
lacking of national law and incentives;• Low statistic value compared to other analysis;
How we face the obstacles:• Understanding actual needs for foreseeing the future labour
market and for defining adequate didactics.
WP 2 Analysis of Training needs
Not only technician, but also financial andmanagement experts …

Obstacles:• Acceptance of transversal program, including courses on energy efficiency and
management, economy, law and incentives, communication, market;• Different methodologies for didactic materials elaboration (EU providing
contents VS Jordan needs ppt presentations);• Lack of JO competences for several modules (EE, EM, law, …);• Long time for accreditation;• Internal obstacles in the establishing of renewables Master Courses
How we face the obstacles:• Technical program for JUST;• Transversal program for UJ and Mutah;• Cancelling of few courses (market, law, communication, Low Carbon buildings);• Internal accreditation, where possible (JUST, MUTAH)
WP 8 Dissemination and PromotionMarket and economy opportunities on REThe future in education
More than 3 InfoDays “Clean Energies in Jordanian Territories” at the 3 Jordanian universities involved
WP 4 Master courses implementation
45 students, among engineers, architects and with scientific degrees
2 graduated students in Mutah University
1 graduated student in University of Jordan
Obstacles:• Low number of students with English qualification (Mutah);• Lack of competences in JO: hiding of courses;• Long time for tenders (about 3 years), limited use of
equipments during the master courses;• Delay in the purchasing of Video conference and partially
providing of EU lessons on line;How we face the obstacles:• President authorization for a Master with 2 students only
(Mutah);• Skype use for distance learning (low quality);
WP 4 Internship in EuropeEuropean experience on RE for improvingYoung experts skills
14 day Internships in Rome, Newcastle and Lund
24 best students involved
More than 30 days spent among technical visits, energy plants, laboratories and lectures.
WP 4 Didactic Equipments on Renewables
technologies work
3 video conference tools, Solar collectors units, portable Photovoltaic system analyzer, Environmental Monitoring System, etc…
To discovery how the renewable
A lot!But thank you for this great experience!
