This is the Last Newsletter for 2013
It has been another busy year at Lismore Public School and I would like to thank the staff for their dedication, expertise
and professionalism. The school has continued to thrive thanks to their efforts. Also I would like to acknowledge the efforts
and support of the P&C and the parents and community members who have made such positive contributions to our
school. I believe a strength of our school is the positive partnership between school and community. Finally, I would like to
acknowledge the efforts of our students this year. I wish those departing for high school or moving away all the very best
for the future.
Reports
Student reports will go home tomorrow. Parents are encouraged to contact the office if they would like to discuss their
child’s report with the class teacher.
Awards
The white awards have now finished. There will be a special presentation of gold, silver, bronze and platinum awards
tomorrow morning in the hall from 9.10am. Due to the large number of white awards, the others will be distributed by class
teachers. Well done to all the students who have progressed through the levels this year.
End of year events
Thank you to Mrs Whittle and the staff who coordinated last week’s presentation day assembly at Southern Cross
University. Congratulations to all the award recipients and our new captains and vice captains.
This evening we have the Christmas Carols – thanks to Pete Thompson and Jamie Thomas for hosting and class teachers
for organising the performances. Special thanks to David Hoskins for all his work here.
On Monday we farewell Year 6 at their dinner at the Zest Function Room at SCU. This should be an enjoyable evening for
these students and their parents/carers.
Teachers are organising class parties. Please note the last day of term for students is Wednesday 18th December. School
resumes for students from Years 1-6 on Wednesday 29th January 2014. Kindergarten students will complete Best Start
assessments on the 29th and 30th January prior to commencing Friday 31st.

Movie World Tickets
We have 3 free passes to Movie World on the Gold Coast. 1adult and 2 children to be used by November 2014.
For everyone who has paid all outstanding accounts you will be in the draw to win these tickets.
Please ensure all outstanding accounts for 2013 are paid by Friday 13th December 2013. This includes voluntary
contributions, excursions, yearbook, graduation, sport team photos or over due library books. It is essential this money is
paid.
Message Book
For the remainder of this term we are trialling an after school changes book. If you wish to get a message to your child
regarding changes to them going home you may ring the office and these changes will be recorded in a book. This book
will be sent to afternoon assembly and students will be informed of their changes. If your child is one who may have
changes frequently it is important to speak to your child and make sure they are aware of this procedure and will need to
pay attention during assembly to listen for their name to be called out.
Our Kids Calendar/CD
LPS Senior Choir have recorded a Christmas song on the Our Kids Christmas CD. The CD comes with the 2014 Our Kid’s
Calendar and is a fantastic way of supporting Our Kids.
The CD and Calendar is now at the school office for $20 and a great memento for the students from our choir who
performed on it.

Mrs Armitage (aka Ms Gibson) visited 2/3H in our library in Week 7. And of course, by her side
was her faithful companion Breakspear. During her 20 minute visit, 2/3H had the opportunity to
ask her some fat and skinny questions. When asking skinny questions, we found out that
Breakspear is 8 years old, Mrs Armitage’s favourite colour is blue and she has been riding her
bike since Breakspear was a puppy. When asking fat questions, we found out why Mrs
Armitage took up bike riding, how she felt when riding, and the types of places she likes to go
bike riding.
2/3H thanks Mrs Armitage and Breakspear for visiting. We look
forward to reading more of her books about her adventures with
Breakspear.
