About LSYO
The Lansing Spartans Youth Organization (LSYO),
a local 501(c)(3) organization provides children
and youth boxing-based fitness training,
nutritional information, and academic support.
LSYO was founded in 2009 by Kolmarge Harris, a
former professional boxer who decided to
dedicate his retirement from boxing to teaching
children in the Lansing area safe workout
techniques.

Key Players and Staffing
Kolmarge Harris Founder and CEO of LSYO. Mr. Harris is a retired
professional boxer and leads LSYO participants in boxing-based fitness
classes. Mr. Harris is a positive role-model for children and youth in Lansing.
Tommy Washington LSYO board member. Pastor, community leader,
retired boxer, and Lansing resident. Mr. Washington recruits volunteers
and sponsors to support LSYO.
Nicholas Ochal, MSW Nonprofit management professional. Mr. Ochal
oversees revenue generation, budget development, community outreach
initiatives, and ensures rigorous program evaluation.

LSYO Mission
Mission Statement To make available to children and
adolescents in the Greater Lansing area low/no cost
fitness programs that motivate, educate, and instill a life-
changing, life long bond with physical fitness, helping
those who struggle with weight issues (obesity) and
aggressive behaviors (anti-bullying).

Goals & Objectives
Each youth participant will increase his/her/their
knowledge of physical fitness and healthy foods.
Each youth participant will increase his/her/their
positive stress-related coping skills.
Each youth participant will increase his/her/their self-
esteem by building a strong self-concept and self-
efficacy.

LSYO Saturday Fit Days Program

LSYO Fitness After-School Program
Monday-Thursday 3PM-4PM, 4PM-5PM, 5PM-6PM, & 6PM-7PM
Located at Genesis Fitness Center
Led by former professional boxer Kolmarge Harris
After-School Snack
$60 contribution for 5 weeks OR $10 contribution for Drop-Ins
Participation Scholarships are available for low-income families

LSYO Saturday Fit Days
Parent Session: Saturdays 8AM-9AM
Children/Youth Session Saturday 11AM-12PM
Located at Genesis Fitness Center
Led by former professional boxer Kolmarge Harris
$10 contribution per individual participant
Participation scholarships available to low-income families
