PARISH NEWS & UPCOMING EVENTS
Traveling this summer and want to find a Mass near you? Use MASSTIMES.ORG to find churches, worship mes, contact informaon, and maps online. Or download the app Mass Times for Travel.
AT THE HOME OF ST. JOACHIM AND ST. ANN
Although our parish is celebrang the Feast of St. Joachim & St. Ann this weekend, the actual memorial is on Thursday, July 26. Joachim and Ann were the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary and thus the grandparents of Jesus.
According to ancient tradion, their home stood close to the Temple area in Jerusalem. The Church of St. Ann now marks the spot, and the parishioners who were part of the spring Holy Land Pilgrimage visited this holy site to see the chapel dedicated to the birth of Mary.
Are You “SURE” You’re a Registered Parishioner? Many times we meet people and friends at St. Paul and St. Ann’s who attend mass, take part in events, or perhaps even have received their sacraments here as well. This does not automatically make them a parishioner! To be a member of our parish you MUST register. Registering is very easy and can be done either online at our website spasaparish.org or you can come into the parish office and fill out a form.
Why register? First and foremost, it’s very important to register so we can serve your needs and have your contact information. Many times, we have families calling the office for sponsor letters for either Baptism or Confirmation, and they think just because the family is registered, the adult children are also registered. But that is not correct.
In order to receive a sponsor letter, you must be a REGISTERED member of the parish for at least 6 months.
Everyone over the age of 18 is encouraged to register with the parish. We get calls from people thinking that because they received all their sacraments here and attend mass that they are automatically registered. This is not the case.
Moreover, this past tax season quite a few people who attended mass regularly and donated weekly could not receive a letter for their taxes because they were not registered members of the parish and did not have their donations recorded.
So, please take the time to officially register with the parish so we can meet all your needs now and in the future!

Surrender “It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name He may give you.” John 15:16
Dear Christ followers,
We may not always choose Christ, but He undoubt-edly chooses us. As He promised, whatever we ask in His holy name shall be given to us. Perhaps it isn’t always what we hope for or desire, but it is always what we need.
We weep, we doubt, and we fear, but only for a night, for the joy of the Lord comes in the morning. Throughout the journey, we must connue to ask God for his guidance, learning to trust His plan fully and earnestly seeking Him. It is through prayer and supplicaon that we receive favor. God never falls short with blessings in His perfect ming. Surrender to His will and the floodgates of blessing will be thrust open. Amen.
Desiree Cardinale, The Breath of His Word

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
The Last Step Before Knighthood Our society tends to stress the importance of acon more than prayer, but the two really are meant to go together.
In medieval mes, before organized police forces and government legal systems, jusce and social order were maintained by courageous volunteers known as Chrisan knights.
These were noblemen who dedicated their me, money, and physical strength to defending the defenseless and helping the local lord protect the populace against bandits and barbarians.
The process to become a knight was long and arduous, because the life of a knight was fraught with dangers and difficules. He was the quintessenal man of acon.
The very last step in aaining knighthood, however, had nothing at all to do with acon.
Rather, it was a reminder to the knight of the real source of all strength, jusce, and hope.
At sundown on the evening before the day of the knight's dubbing ceremony, he would enter his lord's chapel. Then, dressed in his full armor, with his sword strapped on and securely in its scabbard, he would kneel in prayer, in front of the altar, looking up at the crucifix.
He would stay there all night long, unl sunrise the next morning.
If he couldn't make it through this prayer vigil, he couldn't be dubbed a knight, no maer how good he was with a horse and a lance.
We are all knights serving our Lord Jesus Christ, and to fulfill our mission we need both acon and prayer.
