WINDS OF CHANGETimes and seasons change, as 2014 has clearly shown

us. The past year has brought a plethora of changes that will affect Nyack College for years to come. Our New York City campus, in particular, has experienced many winds

of change. Along with the inclusion of new personnel and students, we welcomed the addition of our new building

at 2 Washington Street, located at the heart of New York’s financial district. Our new facilities have allowed us to

extend our reach further than we ever expected. With the help of God and the individuals He has blessed us with, we

will continue to complete the mission He put us here to accomplish.

Though times and seasons will continue to change, God has continued to equip and encourage our students and

faculty, including our class of 2014. This class has pushed through the pressures of their college lives and come out

victorious. By effectively balancing education, family, work, and ministry, our 2014 graduates have proven that with the

help of God, they are willing and able to face any obstacle that may come their way. This book was compiled to re-live a memorable year of laughs, challenges and victories. The prayer of the editors of this yearbook is that each graduate may be able to humbly reminisce on the achievements that

God has brought them, and encourage each graduate to continue to fulfill His will in their lives.

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…” - Ecclesiastes 3:1-6 (KJV)

Dr. Michael G. ScalesPresident

Dear Graduate:

You have been a part of a very important chapter of Nyack College history: our relocation from Broadway to Battery Park. That is indeed a miracle in Manhattan!

We had dreams and visions for our new Manhattan campus, but God saw a bigger and better picture. Here we are at 2 Washington Street—a most strategic location in “the gateway city to the world!”

My sincerest congratulations to you on the completion of your degree. May God continue to open doors for you as you experience your personal season of change from student to Nyack alum—equipped and empowered to be a servant leader—in our nation and beyond.

We rejoice with you over God’s goodness in your life.

With warm regards,

Dr. Michael G. Scales, Ed.D.President

Winds of ChangeChange is painful. We speak of and expect change, but when it hits us, it can hit us hard. The comfortable in our lives begins to transform into something other, into something different, into something new that is unfamiliar. This can be frightening.New knowledge, particularly in the liberal arts, scaffolds our intellectual framework. With every bit of new information – whether formal or informal, whether in the classroom or through life experiences – adds another layer to our knowing. This should lead us toward a deeper and more compassionate understanding of ourselves, of others, and of the universe. But one thing is certain – without change there is no growth. Our thought patterns change. Our opinions change. Our politics change. Our theologies change. Our ethics change. Our relationships change. And, hopefully, our assumptions change. This can be very uncomfortable indeed, especially to those whose fists remain closed. And while new knowledge provides the fuel for continuing education, the drive for learning should never change. There is a time for everything – be present in that time. There is a season for every activity – be present in that season. Feel it. Process it. Learn from it. The pain you feel is new knowledge increasing, broadening, and transforming your intellectual scaffolding.

Reverend Charles HammondAssociate Dean of Student Life

Dear Graduate:

As Dean of Student Life for the NYC campus, I have the wonderful honor and privilege of interacting on a daily basis with countless men and women who have answered the clarion call. While the winds of change are blowing ever so rapidly, it’s nonetheless so comforting to know that we can be secure in the hands of a wise God. He is ultimately the author of the seasons of life and we can rest in allowing Him to chart our course.

The miracle in Manhattan continues to unfold before our very eyes and it’s exciting to be a part of this incredible journey both now and in the future. My sincerest blessings to each student who has completed their assignment here at Nyack and now prayerfully moves into their best days which are ahead.

A Message from Student Government President Rolando Rosales

If you’re receiving a copy of this year’s digital yearbook , then you have

probably already graduated from Nyack College. Congratulations! The Lord

has been faithful, he has delivered his promise to see us through. Yet the task

is far from over; with graduation comes new responsibilities, and of course,

more obstacles to face. Whichever road the Lord leads you to, whether

Grad School or the work force, the mission for all of us is clear: to build the

kingdom of God here on earth. I challenge you to put all that you’ve learned

at Nyack College to work for the good of the Gospel. We may not see each

other again, but know that our endeavor will always be the same: to represent

Christ everywhere we go till the Lord unites our path together again.

Class of 2014, it was in honor serving as your 2013-2014 Student Government

Association President. GO NYACK!!!

In Christ, Rolando Rosales

Acts Prayer Ministry (APM): Our mission is to bring spiritual growth to the Nyack College community through prayer, reading the Holy Bible, and memorizing the scriptures. Through supplications and intercessions we believe we will not conform to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our mind.

Bible and Theology Club (NCNYCBTC): Our mission is to promote the sharing of knowledge and material that is related to the study of scriptures in college and otherwise.

Christian Art and Media Club (CAM): Our purpose is to express the gospel of Jesus Christ through multiple forms of studio art and media, paint, graphite, pictures, video, comic illustrations, and sculpture. The idea is to bring Nyack students with creative and artistic minds together to illustrate scripture and inspiration visually. The goal is to outwardly express our passions for art and love for Christ throughout the college and within the community.

Nyack College Business Club (NCBC): Our mission is to aid the faculty and the student body of Nyack College with our business abilities. We strive to give members of our club the experiences and connections they will need to thrive in the business world.

Page 39: Nyack College NYC 2014

Students Against Hunger (SAH):

Students Against Hunger Ministry is a faith-based organization committed to being socially relevant and exemplifying the love of Jesus Christ in action by providing food to the poor, addressing their spiritual needs, and working in partnership with others to encourage community service according to Deuteronomy 15:11 “…Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.”

Nyack College Evangelism Club (NCNYCEC): Our purpose is to carry out the Great Commission as Jesus Christ commanded in the Holy Scriptures according to Saint Matthew 28:18-20. Therefore, we intend to effectively communicate the Love of Jesus Christ in the local neighboring community near Nyack NYC campus with respect for all people and nations.

Men of Letters (MOL): The purpose of Men of Letters is to promote the development of ethical and intellectual excellence in themselves and their fellow brothers. This will be done primarily through lectures and discussion on culture, current events and the liberal arts. Men of Letters is a student organization for men in the literary society tradition. It is sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences.

Social Work Organization: Our mission is to promote the Social Work profession (within a Christian perspective) as an important and positive field that deserves recognition through Social Work education, community service, and campus awareness of social and political issues.

Veterans Club:Our goal is to assist with the transition from military service to civilian life, and to provide clarity concerning the academic requirements, grants, scholarships, and other resources that are available to veterans. We are committed to providing a welcoming environment through understanding each other’s needs. 39

A TIME FOR EVERYTHINGECCLESIASTES 3:1-8 (NIV)

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
