OCIT® interfaces link up distributed central and decentralized

SITRAFFIC Concert bridges the gabs between different

systems, local authorities and transportation modes.

Completely integrated traffi c management is not possible

without openness. After all, no city ever starts from scratch:

a range of effective telematics applications and individual

The Ruhrpilot scheme is ushering in a new era of mobility

information. It is an innovative, computer-based system

for intelligent traffi c management. It supplies road users,

the economy and municipalities with comprehensive and

detailed mobility information and thus ensures:

The modular tunnel

control center –

vidually adaptable

SITRAFFIC ITCC is the fi rst integrated solution for tunnel

control including both traffi c control and control of all

mechanical and electrical systems. It is highly standardized

but easily adaptable to national regulations and individual

customer requirements. It can control all kinds of tunnel

devices, from power supply, ventilation, lighting, fi re detec-

tion, emergency call systems and video systems to traffi c

signals, variable message signs and barriers.

Coordinated Ramp

Software for the

control of ramp fl ows

through traffi c signals

The fi rst ramp metering system is installed at the motorway

junction Limmattal near Zurich, Switzerland. It covers four

consecutive ramps. Maximum road network benefi t through

coordinated optimization of traffi c fl ow on each individual

ramp and across all ramps. Positive effects include reduced

congestion and shorter travel times. The system consists of

the control computer, the WinCC SCADA system, roadside

stations based on SIMATIC® S7-300, inductive loop detectors,

variable message signs and traffi c signals.

The SST4-XS is the optimum unit for less complex applica-

tions. No unnecessary interfaces or features! This means

that in future it will be possible to realize specifi c uses of the

The Siemens VDO OBUs are available not only for the OEM

but also for the after-market. With our ”new generation

OBU“, the so-called ”windscreen solution“, we have realized

a modular concept that can be fl exibly adapted to the

customer ‘s requirements while offering a maximum level of

reliability. The internal antennas and the simple installation

(e.g. using suction cups) allows the fi tting of the unit within

minutes, even by the driver himself.

The GPS/GPRS based electronic toll system is the fi rst of its

kind to combine every electronic toll scheme. Independent

of the architecture, it collects data of distance-based or

segment-based toll systems as well as the entry and exit

points information of cordon schemes. Its interoperability

and extremely low data transfer volume make it the most

suitable system for the impending European Electronic Toll

Service.

The WEZ system comprises over 850 automatic number plate

recognition (ANPR) cameras at 127 sites. The cameras will

capture details of an estimated 1 million number plates ev ery

day. The Western Extension Zone project will see London’s

current congestion charge area extended in a westerly direc-

tion into Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea. Siemens will

supply, operate and maintain the enforcement infrastructure,

which is scheduled to go live in February 2007.

Next generation

A traffi c controller for the future, delivering all of the highly

acclaimed and well-proven C800V features on a new high-

performance platform capable of fulfi lling future global

requirements.

The main objective in developing the C900V, besides pro-

viding maximum functionality and reliability, was to address

ever increasing customer demands that necessitate higher

processor performance, greater memory capacity and a

larger number of interfaces.

The SITRAFFIC Silux 1.40 signal head features brilliant LED

optics. The highest phantom class can be reached even with

colorless diffusing screens. Optimized light distribution

interface with TÜV-certifi cation is used for all colors in order

to ensure a high safety level for the entire intersection.

Sivicam I-2

Video detector for

intersections

The SITRAFFIC video detector range offers solutions for

nearly all detection applications. The Sivicam I-2 is a new

integrated video detector for intersection control. The high

detection quality ensures reliable stop line and advanced

detection. The small housing will not attract attention by

the motorists since it doesn‘t look like a camera. With the

integrated design and small housing it can easily be installed

on any pole or gantry.

An ever-increasing emphasis on road safety demands greater

use of speed warning and control measures. Graphos pro-

vides a range of speed roundels or other graphical symbols

in many different sizes. These signs can be activated by

speed-sensitive above-ground detectors, loop detectors or

Automated number plate recognition technology provides a

new and accurate mechanism for monitoring journey times

and network performance. The journey time information

provides the operator with details of the current real-time

traffi c situation and can also be used in the selection of

stra tegic control measures to ensure effi cient operation

of the network. Data can be used for network analysis,

eliminating the need for expensive manpower-intensive

surveys in determining major traffi c fl ows.

AluStar is a specially designed signal head for the new

generation of light sources used in traffi c control installations

based on LED technology. With LEDs as a light source the

power consumption is very low with a lifetime of at least fi ve
