Entre los proyectos que tendrán una finalización más próxima figuran la ejecución del solárium en la playa de los Pozos o la nueva marina deportiva con 300 atraques y zona comercial y de restauración.

El pasado mes de septiembre, en el ayuntamiento de Puerto del Rosario, el nuevo presidente de la Autoridad Portuaria de Las Palmas, Luis Ibarra, y el alcalde de Puerto del Rosario, Marcial Morales, ofrecieron una rueda de prensa sobre diversos asuntos de interés que se vienen trabajando entre ambas administraciones como son el Proyecto de Ejecución del Solárium en la Playa de Los Pozos, el Concurso para una nueva Marina Deportiva, la ampliación del Muelle de Cru-ceros, el expediente del futuro Muelle de la Hondura, la Aprobación del Plan Especial del Puerto, la posible ampliación de la Playa de los Pozos hacia el sur, la ade-cuación de las instalaciones portuarias como Puerto Schengen, la entrega del tramo de avenida marítima en el Charco ya ejecutado por la Autoridad Portuaria o

distintas acciones de impulso al turismo de cruceros.Para el Alcalde de Puerto del Rosario, Marcial Morales,

esta primera toma de contacto con el nuevo responsable de esta entidad portuaria, permitirá tomar el pulso a los proyectos e iniciativas en los que se venía trabajando y que, en algunos casos, se encuentran bastante avanzados. Entre los de más rápida ejecución y otros de más largo plazo, permitirán seguir consolidando un entorno portuario y frente marítimo como uno de los ejes socioeconómicos de la capital….concluía el primer edil capitalino.

Por su parte, Luis Ibarra, nuevo Presidente de la Autoridad Portuaria de Las Palmas destacó la plena sintonía de este organismo con las Instituciones majoreras en el objetivo que en los próximos meses se culminen algunos de estos proyectos, para los cuáles se cuenta con una relativa salud financiera. Esta Autoridad Portuaria tiene la previsión que en un plazo de año medio esté aprobado el Plan Especial del Puerto con lo que ello significará para un completo desarrollo de la zona, sin menoscabo que el Puerto y su zona de influencia continúe desarrollándose, como se ha apuntado, con las iniciativas más inminentes”.

Amongst the projects that should be completed imminently, we have the execution of the solarium on the beach of Los Pozos or the new sports’ marina with 300 berths, a commercial area and restaurants.

In September, at Puerto del Rosario’s ayuntamien-to, the new president of the Harbour Authority of Las Palmas, Luis Ibarra, and the Mayor or Puerto del Rosario, Marcias Morales, organised a press con-ference about various important matters that both administrations have been working on together such as the Execution Project of the Solarium on the beach of Los Pozos, putting out to tender the new Sports’ Marina, the extension of the Cruise Ship Harbour, the file on the future Harbour of la Hondura, the Approval of the Special Harbour Plan, the possibility for the extension of Playa de los Pozos towards the south, the refurbishment of the harbour’s installation as Schengen harbour, the completion of the work on avenida Marítima in El Charco which has been carried out by the Harbour Authority or various actions aimed at the Cruise Ship tourism.

For the Mayor of Puerto del Rosario, Marcial Mo-rales, this first contact with the new president of this harbour authority will allow for projects and initiatives to get pushed forward, some of which are already in quite an advanced state. Between those that will get executed quite quickly and others that are on more of a long term basis, they will ensure that the harbour environment and sea front keep on being consolida-ted as one of the capital’s social and economic main assets…concluded the capital’s Mayor.

On the other hand, Luis Ibarra, new president of the Harbour Authority in Las Palmas pointed out how this organisation is completely in tune with the Majorero Institutions and aims at completing in the next few months some of those projects, some of which are financially viable. This Harbour Authority plans that within one and a half year the Special Plan of the Harbour will be approved which will bring a complete development of the area, without infringing of the Har-bour and its affluence area that will keep on developing as more recent initiatives have been developed for”.

Für den Bürgermeister von Puerto del Rosario, Marcial Morales, wird diese Kontaktaufnahme mit dem neuen Verantwortlichen der Hafenbehörde es ermöglichen, die Projekte und Initiativen voranzutrei-ben, an denen sie schon seit Jahren arbeiteten und von denen einige schon sehr weit vorangekommen sind. Diese Arbeiten, von denen einige schneller ausgeführt werden, während andere länger brauchen

werden, werden es ermöglichen, die Umgebung des Hafens und der Meeresfront als eine der sozioöko-nomischen Achsen der Hauptstadt zu konsolidieren.

Die Ha-fenbehörde sieht vor, dass der Sonderplan für den Hafen innerhalb einer Frist von eineinhalb Jahren ve-rabschiedet sein wird. Dies ist von großer Bedeutung für die Entwicklung der Zone. Außerdem werden sich der Hafen und seine Umgebung auch, wie gesagt, mit kurzfristigeren Initiativen weiter entwickeln”.

Decenas de familiares y allegados se congregaron el pasado mes de septiembre en el Centro Náutico Insular, en la avenida Marítima de Puerto del Rosario, para recibir a la expedición que ha completado la 13ª Vuelta a Fuerteventura en Kayak. Tras finalizar las ocho jornadas de navegación previstas, el balance de la organización es uno de los más positivos que se recuerdan, ya que gracias a las buenas condicio-nes del viento y el mar durante todo el recorrido los palistas han podido explorar y disfrutar de paisajes recónditos y desconocidos de la costa majorera.

Como consecuencia de estas circunstancias, cabe destacar que los 40 palistas inscritos han finalizado el recorrido sin contratiempos. Ocho de ellos, los venidos desde Gran Canaria y Tenerife, realizaron la última jor-nada sin descanso para alcanzar la meta a mediodía y poder regresar a sus casas en avión. Los 32 restantes hicieron el último alto en la playa de El Castillo, como estaba previsto, para luego partir hacia Puerto del Rosario tras el almuerzo y desembarcar puntualmente a las 17:00 horas en la bahía de la capital majorera.

En la entrega de reconocimientos –no de premios puesto que la Vuelta a Fuerteventura en Kayak es una prueba participativa y no competitiva-, participaron el presidente insular, Mario Cabrera, y el consejero de Deportes del Cabido, Antonio Mesa, en repre-sentación de la institución majorera que organiza el evento, y por arte de los organismos colaboradores Rafael Páez y Juan Jesús Gutiérrez, alcalde accidental y concejal de Deportes en el Ayuntamiento de Puerto

del Rosario, y Antonio Salmerón, delegado insular de la Federación Canaria de Piragüismo.

Cabe destacar la presencia de seis féminas entre los 40 participantes, o también la participación de los integrantes de los clubes de piragüismo de la Isla, CD Herbania y Club de Vela Pujamen, quienes aprovechan la prueba para preparar las próximas competiciones, en las que cabe esperar como en anteriores experien-cias que los palistas de Fuerteventura demuestren su nivel regresando a la Isla con un buen número de medallas en las diferentes categorías.

Historia de la pruebaLa primera edición de la Vuelta a Fuerteventura en

Kayak tuvo lugar al margen de las instituciones públi-cas. Un grupo de amigos amantes de la navegación y naturales de la Isla, asociados bajo el nombre de ‘Kayak Sotavento’, decidió emprender la aventura de dar la vuelta a la Isla en piragua por su propia iniciativa. Sin patrocinadores ni apoyo logístico, arrastrando en cáma-ras de rueda de camión todo lo que necesitaban para alimentarse y pasar la noche, y alimentándose muchas veces de lo que el mar les ofrecía, estos cuatro amigos completaron el recorrido hace ahora catorce años.

Dado el éxito de la iniciativa, el Cabildo de Fuerte-ventura asumió como propia en su tercera edición la organización de esta prueba, que ha continuado desde entonces sin que haya cambiado significativamente su itinerario. Al fin y al cabo, el objetivo es completar una vuelta completa a Fuerteventura sin más ayuda que una piragua y la fuerza de los propios brazos, disfrutando en esta aventura de la visión única y diferente que propor-ciona la observación de la costa majorera desde el mar.



Dozens of families and fans congregated in Septem-ber at the Island Nautical Centre, on Avenida Marítima in Puerto del Rosario to welcome the expedition that completed the 13th Kayak Fuerteventura Tour. After completing eight days of planned navigation, the orga-nisation is more positive than ever, thanks to the good wind and sea conditions during the whole expedition, the canoeists were able to explore and enjoy remote and unknown landscapes of the Majorero coasts.

As a consequence of those good conditions, it is important to point out that all 40 canoeists registered managed to complete the race without delays. Eight of them who came from Gran Canaria and Tenerife, did the last day without breaks in order to reach their goal for midday and catch their plane to go back home. The 32 others made one last break in El Castillo’s beach, as planned, to later go towards Puerto del Rosario after lunch and disembark at 5 pm on the Capital’s beach.

During the hand over of the appreciations – not prizes as the Kayak Fuerteventura Tour is a participa-tion stage not a competition -, the Island’s President was present, Mario Cabrera and the Cabildo’s Sports Councillor, Antonio Mesa, representing the Majorero institution that organises the event, and for the collaborating organisations, Rafael Páez and Juan Jesús Gutiérrez, the deputy Mayor and the Sports Councillor of Puerto del Rosario’s Ayuntamiento and Antonio Salmerón, island delegate for the Canoeing Federation of the Canaries.

It is important to point out that six women parti-cipated amongst those 40 canoeists, and the par-ticipation of members of the canoeing clubs of the island, CD Herbania and Club de Vela Pujamen that took advantage of this event as training for their next competitions, when we hope that as for previous expe-riences, Fuerteventura’s canoeists will demonstrate their level by coming back to the island with medals.

History of this challengeThe first edition of the Kayak Fuerteventura Tour

was organised without the involvement of public institutions. A group of friends, keen on navigation and the natural beauty of the Island, created the association “Kayak Sotavento”, and decided to go for an adventure trip round the Island on canoes of their own initiative. Without sponsors or logistic support, tying up in inner tubes of lorry tyres everything their needed to eat and sleep, and eating a lot of the time with what the sea had to offer, those four friends completed this first tour fourteen years ago.

Given the success of the initiative, Fuerteventura’s Cabildo took over the organisation for the third edition and it has continued since then without significant changes to the itinerary. All in all, the objective is to complete a circle around Fuerteventura without any other help than a canoe and the strength of ones’ arms, taking advantage of this adventure to get the unique vision that observing the Majorero coast from the sea provides.

Zahlreiche Verwandte und Anhänger versammelten sich im September im Centro Náutico Insular, in der Avenida Marítima von Puerto del Rosario, um die Sportler zu empfangen, die an der 13. Kajak-Fahrt um Fuerteventura teilgenommen hatten. Nach den acht vorgesehenen Tagen Kajakfahrt zieht die Organi-sation eine positive Bilanz. Dank der hervorragenden Bedingungen des Windes und der See konnten die Ruderer unbekannte Landschaften der Küste von Fuerteventura erkunden.

Es muss betont werden, dass es dank dieser guten Bedingungen alle 40 Ruderer schafften, die Fahrt problemlos zu beenden. Acht von ihnen, die aus Gran Canaria und Teneriffa gekommen waren, machten am letzten Tag keine Pause, so dass sie das Ziel schon mittags erreichten und im Flugzeug nachhause reisen konnten. Die 32 übrigen Sportler machten wie geplant eine letzte Pause am Strand von El Castillo. Von dort aus fuhren sie nach dem Mittagessen nach Puerto del Rosario zurück und kamen pünktlich um 17:00 Uhr in der Hauptstadt von Fuerteventura an.

Bei der Übergabe der Anerkennungen – es gab kei-ne Preise, weil die Kajak-Fahrt um Fuerteventura kein richtiger Wettkampf ist, es geht darum mitzumachen – wurde der Cabildo, der dieses Event organisiert hat, vom Präsidenten der Insel, Mario Cabrera, und

Außerdem kamen auch Vertreter der Einrichtungen, die diese Veranstaltung unters-tützen: Rafael Páez und Juan Jesús Gutiérrez, der stellvertretende Bürgermeister und Beauftragte für Sport der Gemeinde von Puerto del Rosario und An-tonio Salmerón, der Insel-Delegierte der kanarischen Kajak-Föderation.

Es muss betont werden, dass es 6 Frauen unter den 40 Teilnehmern gab und dass zwei Ruderclubs der Insel, der CD Herbania und der Segelclub Pujamen, teilgenommen haben. Sie nutzen die Gelegenheit, um sich auf die nächsten Wettkämpfe vorzubereiten. Man kann davon ausgehen, dass die Ruderer von Fuerteventura dort wieder ihr Können beweisen und mit zahlreichen Medaillen auf die Insel zurückkehren werden.

Geschichte des WettkampfesDie erste Kajak-Fahrt um Fuerteventura fand

ohne offizielle Unterstützung statt. Eine Gruppe von Freunden, die von der Schifffahrt begeistert waren, vereinigten sich unter dem Namen ‘Kayak Sotavento’, und beschlossen das Abenteuer zu unternehmen, auf eigene Faust eine Kanufahrt um die Insel zu ma-chen. Ohne Sponsoren und logistische Unterstützung schafften es diese vier Freunde damals, um die Insel herum zu rudern. Sie brachten ihre gesamte Verpfle-gung und alles, was sie für die Nacht brauchten mit; oft suchten sie sich ihre Nahrung im Meer.

Da diese Initiative sehr erfolgreich war, übernahm der Cabildo von Fuerteventura beim dritten Mal die Organisation dieses Wettkampfs. Seitdem findet er regelmäßig statt, und die Route hat sich im Lauf der Zeit kaum verändert. Das Ziel dieser Veranstaltung ist es, in einem Kajak mit der Kraft der eigenen Arme um die Insel zu fahren und dabei ein einzigartiges Abenteuer zu erleben und die Landschaft der Küste von Fuerteventura kennenzulernen.

La superproducción norteamericana de Paramount Pictures dejará más de medio millón de euros en la Isla y 200 contratos laborales de carácter temporal, además de una importante proyección internacional de las playas del municipio.

Las dunas de Corralejo, el barranco de Esquinzo y la carretera de Majanicho son algunos de los escenarios en los que se ha efectuado el rodaje de la película protagonizada por Sacha Noam Cohen, protagonista de “Borat” y “Bruno”, y por Ben Kingsley, ganador del Oscar por “Gandhi”.

El grueso de las 200 personas que Paramount Pictures ha trasladado a la Isla para el rodaje de la película llegó a Fuerteventura procedente de Sevilla en un vuelo fletado exclusivamente para su despla-zamiento y que terminado su trabajo en la isla, reto-maron en un enlace directo a Nueva York. Además de dicho avión, se fletó un barco para el traslado del material desde la Península.

Dirigida por Larry Charles, la película que se rodaba en la Isla está basada en la novela “Zabibah and the King”, en la que se narra las andanzas de un dictador capaz de entregar su vida con tal de impedir que la democracia llegue a su país.

La mayor parte del metraje se rodó en Estados Unidos, mientras que en Sevilla y Fuerteventura se han rodado las escenas correspondientes a un país árabe indefinido.

Die amerikanische Superproduktion von Para-mount Pictures wird mehr als eine halbe Million Euro auf der Insel lassen. Dazu kommen 200 Zeitarbeits-verträge sowie internationaler Ruhm für die Strände der Gemeinde”.

Die Dünen von Corralejo, der Barranco von Esquinzo und die Carretera de Majanicho gehören zu den Dre-horten des Filmes, in dem Sacha Noam Cohen, der Hauptdarsteller von „Borat” und „Bruno”, sowie Ben Kingsley, der den Oscar für „Gandhi” bekam, mitspielen.

Die Gruppe von 200 Personen, die Paramount Pic-tures für die Dreharbeiten auf die Insel gebracht hat, kam mit einem Privatflug aus Sevilla nach Fuerteven-tura. Nach Abschluss der Arbeiten sind sie direkt nach New York zurück geflogen. Außer dem genannten Flugzeug wurde ein Schiff gechartert, um Material vom spanischen Festland auf die Insel zu bringen.

Der Film, bei dem Larry Charles die Regie führt, wurde nach dem Roman „Zabibah and the King” gedreht, der vom Schicksal eines Diktators handelt, der bereit ist, sein Leben zu opfern, um zu verhindern, dass sein Land demokratisch wird.

Der größte Teil des Films wurde in den USA gedreht. In Sevilla und auf Fuerteventura wurden die Szenen gedreht, die in einem arabischen Land spielen, des-sen Name nicht genannt wird.

Most of the filming was done in the United States, while scenes corresponding to an indefinite Arab country were filmed in Seville and Fuerteventura.

El Capitán Animal Project es una asociación bené-fica sin ánimo de lucro dedicada a ayudar a los gatos callejeros en Fuerteventura y, para entender y valorar mas esta labor que realizan, hemos entrevistado a su fundadora y presidenta, Mirjam Kirschsieper.Mirjam ¿cómo y cuando nace la idea de esta aso-ciación?

Alrededor de 10 años. En 1999 vine a Fuerteventura de vacaciones y observé la triste situación de los gatos callejeros. Al principio trabajamos con otra asociación y luego, hacia el 2005, fue cuando creamos El Capitán.¿Su profesión habitual tiene relación con los animales?

No en absoluto, trabajo en una empresa dedicada a organizar ferias, esta actividad con los gatos es mi O.N.G., particular y complementaria.¿Esta Asociación tiene el origen de esta labor en otros países?

Fue creada en Alemania, pero esta actividad sólo se realiza en Fuerteventura. Es una asociación pe-queña de 120 miembros solamente, por lo que no contamos con economía suficiente para realizar esta labor en otras islas. Quiero aclarar que no contamos con ningún tipo de ayuda oficial.¿Está dedicada ayudar, curar y esterilizar animales callejeros en general?

Nos dedicamos básicamente a los gatos porque, tanto en esta isla como en todo el mundo, existen mu-chas asociaciones para ayudar a los perros, pero muy pocas para los gatos. El problema de abandono y falta de cuidado y protección a los gatos es un problema casi en todos los países, no solo en Fuerteventura.

No obstante cuando alguno de nuestros colabora-dores se encuentra un perro abandonado o enfermo lo atendemos, no vamos a darle de lado, pero nuestra dedicación principal son los gatos.¿En qué consiste el trabajo que realizan?

Nosotros no somos un refugio, como existe otra asociación en el norte, sólo recogemos los gatos callejeros, los esterilizamos, los curamos si están enfermos, los operamos si lo necesitan o se les hace la eutanasia en casos imposibles de sanar. Cuando ya están bien los devolvemos a su hábitat de siempre, para que no se sientan confundidos, ni asustados.

También nos ocupamos de crear unas casetas de mantenimiento y alimentación definidas como “punto de gatos” que se colocan, sobre todo, en grandes urba-nizaciones turísticas o en el interior de algunos hoteles.¿Quién realiza estas operaciones de esterilización?

Colaboramos con distintos veterinarios locales, dependiendo de la zona que estemos trabajando. Abonamos el costo de estos tratamientos, que pre-

viamente hemos concertado con los veterinarios que desean colaborar, haciéndonos un precio lo más económico que permite el Colegio de Veterinarios para estas intervenciones, ya que si lo hiciesen gra-tuitamente sería una competencia desleal.

En Jandía y Costa Calma colaboran con nosotros Rober-to Fernández de los Centro Veterinario y en Gran Tarajal, Laura Cabrera y Guillermo Guerra en la clínica Kalúa y con Oscar Batista de la clínica Pelibuey en Corralejo.¿Todos esos gastos se mantienen con las cuotas de los 120 socios que tienen?

Contamos con donaciones eventuales y colaborado-res que sin ser socios fijos nos ayudan de vez en cuando y también con personas colaboradoras y voluntarias que nos apoyan y quiero hacer mención de Jenny, Katie, Kirsten, Lynne, Monica, que hacen una gran labor.¿Las empresas hoteleras no les ayudan econó-micamente, ya que es de gran ayuda para ellos el control de la población y la alimentación que aportan dentro de sus instalaciones?

No, en absoluto, sólo se limitan a permitirnos que pongamos las casetas de “Punto de Gatos”. Y eso que nuestras casetas evitan que los clientes los alimenten en el restaurante o en los apartamentos. Además como suelen ir a este punto, los recogemos para desparasitarlos, castrarlos y así evitamos que la población aumente dentro del hotel.

Curiosamente en Lanzarote hay otra organización como la nuestra y recibe ayuda económica de los hote-les con los que colaboran y muchos son de las mismas cadenas que los de aquí y sin embargo en Fuerteventura no quieren colaborar económicamente en nada.A lo mejor depende de la decisión individual de cada director o será la famosa excusa de la crisis, o quizás no son conscientes de la ayuda que reciben.

Los clientes alemanes son muy cuidadosos con este tema y nos suelen escribir cuando han estado en un hotel y ven los gatos sin ningún tipo de control. Incluso a veces nos preguntan qué hoteles son res-ponsables con la población de gatos y es entonces cuando les decimos este hotel colabora o este otro no quiere nuestra ayuda.Para aquellas personas que tiene gatos salvajes en su entorno, que a veces solo los alimentan, pero que no pueden controlar la forma en que estos se reproducen, llamar a El Capitán es una solución y además gratuita ¿No es así?.

Sí, pero deben recordar que sólo es para gatos salvajes que no se dejan coger fácilmente, ya que a veces nos llaman y nos encontramos que son los gatos de una finca, que están en el sofá de la casa tranquilamente, pero que sus dueños no quieren hacer el gasto de esterilizarlos.

radora aquí. Ella, habla tres idiomas, lo que facilita la comunicación con todo tipo de personas y nos consulta si hay fondos en ese momento para poder operar. Una vez autorizada se cita con las personas en el lugar habitual de los gatos y con trampas recoge a los que no se dejarían normalmente.¿A partir de qué edad puede ser operado un gato?

En algunos casos se pueden operar a partir de las ocho semanas en adelante, aunque es más aconseja-

ble en gatos de familia hacerlo hacia los cinco meses.Desgraciadamente hay mucha gente que no es respon-sable de las mascotas que adoptan. Se convierten en juguetes momentáneos para ellos o sus hijos y luego los dejan a su destino, sin pensar que esos animales ya no pueden alimentarse solos ni saben defenderse de otros. Y cuando tienen gatitos, se convierten en un estorbo y un gasto alimentarlos. Entonces los dejan tirados para que mueran o los matan ellos mismos.

Sí así es, por este motivo otra de las labores que realiza El Capitán, es educar y dar formación a los niños en las escuelas e institutos que nos lo solicitan. El año pasado fuimos invitados por una profesora a través de un e-mail en el instituto de Gran Tarajal y estamos dispuestos a dar estas charlas educativas tanto a los niños como a los profesores.

Es bueno darles nociones sobre la salud de sus mascotas, las enfermedades que pueden padecer, como por ejemplo que los gatos muy blancos con-traen a menudo cáncer en la nariz o en las orejas, debido al fuerte sol de la isla. También deben saber cómo y porque vacunar a sus gatitos es importante, para la mascota y para las personas.Desde luego la ignorancia es un problema a la hora de tomar conciencia de la responsabilidad con los animalitos.

Sí, yo suelo ir por ciertas fincas y pueblitos acom-pañada de una señora majorera, que explica lo que queremos hacer con los gatos, y que se los devolve-mos una vez que están bien, para que no piensen “quién es esta alemana que se lleva los gatos, a saber

para qué o que hará con ellos”. A veces es gente muy mayor con limitaciones en la lec-

tura, y que por tanto no puede leer un prospecto ni de un medicamento, lo cual le dificulta saber cuidar sus gatitos.¿Quisiera decir algo mas a nuestros lectores?

Me gustaría transmitir que me gusta la isla y me gusta la gente de aquí, que no soy una alemana con aires de superioridad. Que sólo pretendo ayudar y colaborar con el cuidado de la isla y de su entorno.

El Capitán ist ein gemeinnütziger Wohltätigkeitsve-rein, der den Straßenkatzen von Fuerteventura hilft. Um diese Tätigkeit besser zu verstehen und ihren Wert zu begreifen, haben wie die Gründerin und Vor-sitzende des Vereins, Mirjam Kirschsieper, interviewt.Mirjam, wie und wann kamen Sie auf die Idee, diesen Verein zu gründen?

Ungefähr vor 10 Jahren. Ich kam 1999 nach Fuerte-ventura, um hier Urlaub zu machen. Damals habe ich beobachtet, wie traurig die Lage der Straßenkatzen war. Zuerst habe ich mit einem anderen Verein zusammen gearbeitet, im Jahr 2005 gründeten wir dann El Capitán.Hat Ihr Beruf etwas mit Tieren zu tun?

Nein, überhaupt nicht. Ich arbeite in einer Firma, die Messen organisiert. Diese Tätigkeit mit den Katzen ist meine ganz persönliche NGO, und ich mache sie nebenbei.Basiert dieser Verein auf einem Engagement in anderen Ländern?

Er wurde in Deutschland gegründet, aber die hie-sigen Aktivitäten machen wir nur auf Fuerteventura. Es ist ein kleiner Verein, der nur 100 Mitglieder hat, und deshalb haben wir nicht genügend Mittel, um auch auf anderen Inseln tätig zu werden. Ich möchte klarstellen, dass wir keine offizielle Unterstützung bekommen.Widmen Sie sich der Aufgabe, Straßentieren zu helfen, sie zu pflegen und zu sterilisieren?

Wir widmen uns den Katzen, weil es sowohl auf der Insel als überall auf der Welt viele Verbände gibt, die Hunden helfen. Es gibt dagegen nur wenige Verbände, die Katzen unterstützen. Das Problem, dass Katzen

“Wir beabsichtigen, die Pflege der Insel und

ausgesetzt und nicht richtig geschützt werden, besteht in fast allen Ländern, nicht nur auf Fuerteventura. Sie werden als zweit- oder drittklassige Haustiere betra-chtet und werden weniger geschützt als andere Tiere.

Wenn einer unserer Mitarbeiter allerdings einen verlassenen oder kranken Hund findet, wird er die-sem auf jeden Fall helfen. Wir widmen uns jedoch hauptsächlich den Katzen.Worin besteht Ihre Tätigkeit?

Da es im Norden der Insel noch einen anderen Tiers-chutzverein gibt, sind wir kein Zufluchtsort. Wir sammeln die Straßenkatzen nur ein; wir sterilisieren sie und wenn sie krank sind, pflegen oder operieren wir sie. Wenn es unmöglich ist, sie zu heilen, schläfern wir sie ein. Wenn sie wieder gesund sind, bringen wir sie in ihren natürlichen Lebensraum zurück, damit sie nicht verunsichert werden.

Wir kümmern uns auch darum, Häuschen mit Katz-enfutter einzurichten, die als „Katzenpunkte“ bezeich-net werden; sie werden vor allem in Wohnsiedlungen für Touristen und in einigen Hotelanlagen aufgestellt.Wer führt die Sterilisation durch?

Wir arbeiten mit verschiedenen örtlichen Tierärzten zusammen, das hängt von der Gegend ab, in der wir arbeiten. Wir bezahlen diese Behandlungen, die vorher mit den Tierärzten vereinbart werden, die uns unterstüt-zen möchten und uns deshalb günstigere Preise geben als die Tarifgemeinschaft der Tierärzte normalerweise für diese Eingriffe zulässt. Wenn sie es gratis machen würden, wäre es unlauterer Wettbewerb.

Wir bekommen auch Spenden. Es gibt Leute, die uns gelegentlich unterstützen, obwohl sie keine Mitglieder sind. Wir werden auch von Freiwilligen unterstützt. Hier möchte ich Kristen, Jenny und Maren erwähnen, die eine tolle Arbeit machen.Bekommen Sie keine Unterstützung von Hotelketten, obwohl es für diese auch sehr nützlich ist, dass sie die Katzenbevölkerung kontrollieren und ernähren?

Nein, überhaupt nicht. Die erlauben uns nur, unsere “Katzenpunkte” aufzustellen. Dank dieser Häuschen wird vermieden, dass die Kunden die Katzen in den Restaurants oder in den Apartments füttern. Da die Katzen normalerweise zu diesen Punkten kommen,

sammeln wir sie dort ein, um Parasiten zu entfernen und sie zu kastrieren. So verhindern wir, dass sich die Katzen im Hotel vermehren.

Es ist interessant, dass es auf Lanzarote eine Organi-sation gibt, die uns ähnelt und dass diese von den Hotels unterstützt wird. Viele der Hotels gehören zu den gleichen Hotelketten wie die Hotels hier, aber trotzdem möchten die Hotels auf Fuerteventura uns nicht unterstützen.Vielleicht ist diese Entscheidung von jedem Hotel-besitzer abhängig. Entweder benutzen sie die Krise als Entschuldigung oder sie sind sich nicht bewusst, dass Ihre Tätigkeit eine Hilfe für die Hotels ist.

Die Deutschen Kunden achten sehr auf dieses Thema. Normalerweise schreiben sie uns, wenn sie in einem Hotel waren, in dem sie unkontrollierte Katzen gesehen haben. Manchmal fragen sie uns sogar, wel-che Hotels sich den Katzen gegenüber verantwortlich verhalten; wir sagen ihnen dann, welche Hotels mit uns zusammen arbeiten und welche nicht.Stimmt es, dass Leute, die wilde Katzen in ihrer Umgebung füttern, diese aber nicht kontrollieren können, El Capitán kostenlos zur Hilfe rufen können?

Ja, aber sie müssen daran denken, dass unsere Leistungen nur für wilde Katzen sind, die sich ni-cht so leicht einfangen lassen. Manchmal werden wir bestellt, und dann treffen wir auf Katzen eines Bauernhofes, die zuhause auf dem Sofa sitzen, und deren Besitzer die Kosten für die Sterilisation nicht übernehmen möchten.

Am Telefon antwortet unsere Mitarbeiterin aus Fuerteventura. Sie spricht drei Sprachen, was die Kommunikation erleichtert. Sie fragt uns immer, ob


die Möglichkeit besteht, eine Operation durchzuführen. Sobald der Eingriff genehmigt ist, trifft sie sich mit den Leuten an dem Ort, wo sie die Katzen normalerweise sehen. Diese werden dann mit Fallen eingefangen.Ab welchem Alter kann eine Katze operiert werden?

In manchen Fällen können die Katzen ab acht Wochen operiert werden, bei Familienkatzen ist es je-doch ratsam, dies erst ab dem fünften Monat zu tun.Leider verhalten sich viele Leute nicht verantwor-tungsbewusst gegenüber ihren Haustieren. Sie betrachten sie als Spielzeug für sich selbst oder ihre Kinder und dann setzen sie sie aus, ohne daran zu denken, dass diese Tiere nicht mehr in der Lage sind, sich selbst zu ernähren und zu verteidigen. Wenn sie Junge bekommen, werden sie zu einer Last. Dann setzen die Leute sie aus und lassen sie sterben.

Ja, das stimmt; deshalb gehört es zu den Täti-gkeiten von El Capitán die Kinder in der Schule zu informieren und zu erziehen. Letztes Jahr hat uns eine Lehrerin per E-Mail in eine Schule in Gran Tarajal eingeladen; wir sind bereit, sowohl Vorträge für Kinder als auch für Lehrer zu halten.

Es ist gut, die Leute über die Gesundheit ihrer Haustiere zu informieren und über die Krankheiten, die sie haben können. Weiße Katzen haben zum Beispiel öfters Krebs in der Nase oder in den Ohren, das liegt daran, dass es auf der Insel so heiß ist. Sie müssen auch wissen, warum es für Menschen und Tiere wichtig ist, ihre Kätzchen impfen zu lassen.Es ist ein Problem, dass die Leute nicht gut Bes-cheid wissen.

mitnimmt und was hat sie mit denen vor“.Manchmal sind es sehr alte Leute, die nicht gut

lesen können; sie können noch nicht einmal den Prospekt eines Medikaments lesen. Dies erschwert die Pflege ihrer Katzen.Möchten Sie unseren Lesern noch etwas mitteilen?

Ich würde ihnen gerne vermitteln, dass mir die Insel gefällt und dass ich die Einheimischen mag. Ich bin keine Deutsche, die sich den anderen überlegen fühlt. Ich beab-sichtige nur, die Insel und ihre Umwelt zu unterstützen.

“El Capitán” is a non-profit charity association dedicated to help stray cats in Fuerteventura and in order to better understand the extent of the work they are carrying out, we interviewed the creator and president, Mirjam Kirschsieper.Mirjam, how and when did you get the idea to create this association?

Around 10 years ago. I came to Fuerteventura in 1999 on holidays and witnessed the sad situation of stray cats. At the beginning we worked with another association and later, in 2005, we created “El Capitán”.Is your usual occupation related to animals?

Not at all, I work in a business dedicated to orga-nising fairs. This complimentary activity with cats is my own Non Governmental Organisation.Does the origin of this Association come from other countries?

It was created in Germany, but this activity only takes place in Fuerteventura. It is a small association of only 100 members, which means that we don’t have enough funds to carry out our work in other islands. I would like to point out that we don’t get any kind of official help.Do you dedicate yourself to helping, treating and sterilising stray animals in general?

We basically dedicate ourselves to cats because on the island and around the world, there are many

associations that hep dogs but very few for cats. The problem of abandon and lack of care and protection for cats is a problem in nearly every country, not only in Fuerteventura. They are considered as pets of se-cond or third rank and are very much less protected than the others.

However if one of collaborators finds an abandoned or sick dog, we also take care of it, we wouldn’t leave it aside, but we are mainly dedicated to cats.What does your work consist of?

We are not a refuge, unlike other associations in the North of the Island, we only recover stray cats, sterilise them, treat them if they are sick or carry out surgery if necessary or euthanasia if the cat cannot be saved. When they are well again, we release them in their usual habitat so that they don’t feel confused or scared.

We also create little houses for defined feeding points called “punto de gatos” (cat corner) that are mainly situated on large touristic urbanised areas or inside some hotels.

Who carries out the sterilisations?We collaborate with various local vets, depending

on the area where we work. We pay the costs of those treatments, which have been negotiated with the vets who wish to collaborate, granting us the lowest pos-sible price allowed by the Veterinarian’s Association for this type of service, as it would be considered as disloyal competition to carry it out free of charge.

In Jandía we collaborate with Roberto Fernández of clínica Fuerteventura and in Gran Tarajal, Laura Cabrera and Guillermo Guerra from clínica Kalúa and with Oscar in Corralejo.Are all those costs covered by the membership fees of the association’s 100 members?

We also rely on eventual donations and collabo-rators who despite not being fixed members help us from time to time and on people who collaborate and volunteers who support us and I would like to particularly thank Kristen, Jenny and Maren who work really hard.Don’t hotels and resorts provide financial support, considering that the control and feeding of the cats’ population helps them a lot within their premises?

Not at all, they only allow to set up little shelters for “Punto de Gatos” feeding points. Those little shelters prevent hotel clients from feeding the cats in the restaurants or apartments. Furthermore as cats tend to go to those feeding points, we can pick them up there in order to treat them for parasites, sterilise them and we ensure that the population does not increase within the hotel resorts.

Curiously in Lanzarote other associations like ours get financial support from the hotels that they colla-borate with and many of those belong to the same chains as other hotels in Fuerteventura, however in Fuerteventura they don’t wish to collaborate finan-cially at all.Maybe it depends on the individual decision of each director or it will be the famous excuse of the crisis, or perhaps they are not aware of the help that they are getting.

German clients are very aware of this issue and they tend to write to us after they have been in a ho-tel where they witnessed cats being left unattended and without control. Sometimes they even ask which hotels are responsible for the cat population and we then reply by telling them that such hotel collaborates and another does not wish for us to help.

For people who have wild cats in their neighbou-rhood, who sometimes only feed them but don’t control the way in which they reproduce, calling “El Capitán” is a solution and it’s free, isn’t it?

Yes, but we should remember that wild cats are hard to catch and sometime we are called and we find out that they are cats from a farm who sleep quietly on the sofa but it is the owners who don’t want to pay to have the cats sterilised.

When they call us they get in touch with our local collaborator. She speaks three languages which makes communication easier with all types of peo-ple and she checks with us if there are funds at the time to carry out surgeries. Once the authorisation is given, an appointment is made with the people in the usual place where the cats are seen and we catch with traps the cats that normally would not let themselves get caught.From what age can a cat be sterilised?

In some cases we can operate from 8 weeks on-wards, although it is advisable for family pets to wait until they are five months old.Unfortunately many people are not responsible of the pets they adopt. They become temporary toys for them or their children and later they leave them to their own destiny, without thinking that those animals don’t know how to feed themselves or defend themselves from other animals. And when they have kittens they become a nuisance and too expensive to feed. So, they leave them to die or actually kill them.

This is exactly how it is. This is why another type of work carried out by “El Capitán” is to educate children in schools and institutes that ask us to come. Last year we were invited by a teacher who contacted us by e-mail from an institute in Gran Tarajal and we are always open to having educational chats with both school children and teachers.

It is good to provide information about the health of their pets, the diseases they can carry, like for example white cats that can often suffer from cancer on their nose or ears because of the intensity of the sun on the island. They also must be aware of how and why it is important for their pets to be vaccinated for both the pet and its owners.Of course, ignorance is a problem when it comes to being aware of ones’ responsibilities towards their pets.

That’s correct, and I tend to go in farms and small villages together with a Majorero lady who explains what we are trying to achieve for cats, and that we will bring them back once they are well so that they don’t end up thinking “who is that German lady who takes away all the cats, why and what is she going to do to them”.

Sometimes those are very old people who have problems reading, and who therefore don’t read the instructions of medicine, which makes it difficult for them to care for their cats.Would you like to add something for our readers?

I would like to say that I like the island and the peo-ple who live here, that I am not a snobbish Germany lady. I only wish to help and collaborate in caring for the island and its environment.

Visitamos el Barceló Fuerteventura Thalasso Spa en El Castillo, donde nos reciben el Víctor Díaz, sub-director del Hotel, y Clarisse Oliveira, responsable del Thalasso Spa.

Ambos han tenido la amabilidad de contestarnos algunas preguntas y aclarar ciertas dudas que a veces surgen en torno a estos lugares de esparci-miento, salud y belleza, que suelen estar unidos a importantes cadenas hoteleras.Quizás la primera que todo el mundo tiene en men-te, es la siguiente: ¿Son instalaciones exclusivas para los clientes del hotel?

Víctor Díaz - No, en absoluto, precisamente estamos ampliando nuestras instalaciones para dar cabida y más actividades a nuestros clientes que de forma habitual nos visitan. Nuestra idea es crear un Club de socios local y con este fin estamos aportando novedades y ampliando nuestras ofertas.

Este SPA tiene una marca corporativa a nivel Barceló que es U Spa. Contamos con una empresa externa que nos asesora y estandariza todos los tratamientos y protocolos de los SPA de los hoteles Barceló que entran en la marca U SPA. De tal forma que cualquier cliente que asista a uno de nuestros U SPA, en cualquier lugar, sepa que tendrá el mismo tipo de tratamientos. Estas instalaciones cuentan con 4.000 m2 de terreno y nuestra oferta se ampliará el próximo mes añadiendo 2 o 3 pistas de pádel, además de la de tenis y futbito.

Pretendemos que nuestros socios puedan disfrutar de las pistas y también del gimnasio que tiene apenas un año y que consta de maquinas de última genera-ción. Añadiendo las ya conocidas instalaciones del circuito de agua de mar, (lo que nos permite añadir el nombre de Thalasso al de SPA), tratamientos faciales y corporales de los que hablará más ampliamente la responsable del centro y diferentes clases dirigidas de yoga, Pilates, fitball, y aquafitness. También y con reserva de clases privadas tenemos una experta en ATR (Accident Trauma Release) que es un tipo de terapia muy novedosa con grandes resultados y aquabalance que son unos estudiados estiramientos en el agua, para conseguir una gran descontracción. Y para completar toda la oferta que queremos ofrecer a nuestros miembros del club, hemos organizado ya desde el mes de julio unos eventos semanales, bajo el nombre de Chill&SPA Lounge.¿Qué día se realizan estos eventos?

Chill Out y una bonita iluminación. Pretendemos que se conviertan estas noches en una opción más de viernes noche de ocio y al tiempo de salud y belle-za. Tenemos la idea de continuar con estos eventos durante todo el invierno, utilizando los espacios interiores del centro.¿Qué ha motivado este enfoque hacia el residente de la isla?

Fuerteventura ha crecido mucho, la población cada vez es mayor y demanda más servicios, tanto para su ocio como para su propio cuidado y nosotros queremos hacerles llegar el mensaje de que nuestras instalaciones también están pensadas para ellos y no solo para el turismo. Muchas veces las personas se sienten algo inseguras al acceder a instalaciones hoteleras sin ser clientes de hotel y queremos que descarten esa aptitud. Como además la localización del centro está cerca de la capital y más o menos en el centro de la isla, pensamos que es factible para toda la población de la isla.Clarisse, háblenos de los tratamientos que se rea-lizan en el centro...

Además del circuito de agua de mar, compuesto por seis piscinas con diferentes ambientes, temperatu-ras y todo tipo de chorros submarinos, tenemos un baño turco, jacuzzi, musicarium, cubo de agua fría, sauna y algo muy importante es la parte exterior de nuestra piscina que permite a los clientes tomar el sol en nuestras camas balinesas.¿Y en tratamientos de cabina que ofrecen?

Nuestra carta de tratamientos es amplísima: además de los tratamientos faciales tradicionales tenemos otros de tipo oriental en los que se incluyen, piedras, rosas, o aceites esenciales. Y en tratamien-tos corporales, además del peeling para preparar la piel antes del sol y oxigenar la piel, ofrecemos envolturas de fango, chocolate, algas y aloe vera de Fuerteventura que nos llega fresca cada semana. También mascarillas de Rasul provenientes de Ma-rruecos. Tratamientos con todo tipo de exfoliaciones especiales de jabón negro (a base de olivas negras) y Eucalipto, todos ellos dentro de la tendencia a los tratamientos asiáticos. ¿También realizan masajes tradicionales corpora-les en el Thalasso?

Sí, por supuesto, dentro de los masajes clásicos, tenemos el anticelulítico, relajante, descontracturan-

te, y sueco. Como masajes específicos ofrecemos drenaje linfático, el Dulce Espera para embarazadas, aromaterapia, masaje deportivo, y los orientales: masaje con cañas de bambú que es reafirmante y con esferas chinas como masaje relajante además del masaje Lomi Lomi, que es una técnica de masaje de origen hawaiano, muy agradable por la sensación de oleaje general que se percibe durante los 85 mi-nutos del tratamiento.¿En qué consiste el masaje con esferas chinas?

Debido a que tenemos clientes internacionales, que suelen viajar mucho, las demandas que nos hacen son cada vez más sofisticadas. Son clientes predispuestos a probar nuevas técnicas y sobre todo aquellas que combinan salud, mente y belleza.

También realizamos tratamientos ayurvédicos, para los cuales el cliente rellena un test de nombre dosha. Este tratamiento de origen hindú, basa su eficacia en la diferenciación de un individuo con otro y es a través de este test como sabemos cuál es su dosha dominante.

Nuestro horario de invierno es de 10:00 a 19:00 y el de verano es de 10:00 a 20:00 incluidos domingos y festivos y las clases dirigidas de la tarde mantienen un último horario de 20:10 a 21:00 de la noche. No obstante cuando acabemos con todas las amplia-ciones que estamos realizando y el proyecto de club social deportivo sea una realidad, pensamos ampliar el horario en la tarde para mayor comodidad de los clientes locales y deportistas que vendrán a utilizar nuestras nuevas instalaciones deportivas.

Wir besuchen das Barceló Fuerteventura Thalasso Spa in El Castillo, wo wir von Víctor Díaz, dem stell-vertretenden Direktor des Hotels, und von Clarisse Oliveira, der Verantwortlichen des Thalasso Spa, empfangen werden.

Beide waren so freundlich, uns einige Fragen zu beantworten und gewisse Zweifel zu klären, die man manchmal bezüglich der Zentren für Schönheit und Gesundheit der Hotelketten hat.Das erste, was alle wissen möchten, ist: Ist diese Ein-richtung ausschließlich für die Kunden des Hotels?

Víctor Díaz – Nein, ganz und gar nicht. Wir ver-größern sie zurzeit, um unseren örtlichen Kunden, die uns regelmäßig besuchen, mehr Aktivitäten anbieten zu können. Wir haben vor, einen örtlichen Club zu gründen; zu diesem Zweck führen wir Neuheiten ein und erweitern unsere Angebote.

Dieses SPA verfügt über eine Firmenmarke auf Barcelo-Ebne, das U Spa. Wir haben ein internes Unternehmen, das uns berät und alle Behandlungen und Protokolle der SPA-Bereiche der Barceló Hotels, die zur Marke U SPA gehören, vereinheitlicht. So dass alle Kunden, die irgendwo eines unserer U SPA besu-chen, wissen, dass sie dort die gleichen Behandlungen bekommen. Wir möchten, dass unsere Mitglieder die Sportplätze und das Fitness-Studio nutzen können, das vor knapp einem Jahr eröffnet wurde und über die neusten Gerä-te verfügt. Dazu kommen der schon bekannte Rund-gang mit Meerwasser, (weshalb wir das Wort Thalasso zu dem Wort SPA hinzufügen können), Gesichts- und Körperbehandlungen, über die die Verantwortliche des Zentrums mehr erzählen wird, und verschiedene Kurse für Yoga, Pilates, Fitball, und Wasserfitness. Immer Freitagabend; die Gäste können nicht nur unser gastronomisches Angebot (das sehr gesund ist) genießen, sondern auch drei Stunden lang den Wasserrundgang bei angenehmer Chill Out Musik und schöner Beleuchtung nutzen. Wir möchten, dass diese Veranstaltungen eine Option für den Frei-tagabend werden, bei der Freizeit, Gesundheit und Schönheit verbunden werden. Wir haben vor, diese Events auch den ganzen Winter über zu veranstalten. Dann werden wir die Anlange im Innenbereich des Zentrums nutzen.Wie kommt es, dass sie au Bewohner der Insel setzen?

Fuerteventura ist sehr gewachsen, die Bevölkerung wird immer größer und braucht ein größeres Frei-zeitangebot. Wir möchten den Einheimischen über-mitteln, dass unsere Anlagen auch für sie da sind und nicht nur für die Touristen. Oft fühlen sich die Leute unsicher, wenn sie hierher kommen, ohne Hotelgäste zu sein; und wir möchten, dass sich das ändert. Außerdem ist dieses Zentrum in der Nähe der Hauptstadt und liegt mehr oder weniger zentral, daher meinen wir, dass es für die ganze Bevölkerung der Insel erreichbar ist.Clarisse, erzählen Sie uns bitte etwas über die Be-handlungen, die Sie in dem Zentrum durchführen...

Außer dem Rundgang mit Meerwasser, zu dem sechs Schwimmbäder mit verschiedenen Bereichen und Temperaturen sowie verschiedene Wassers-trahlen gehören, haben wir ein Türkisches Bad, einen Whirlpool, ein Musikarium, eine Eiskammer und eine Sauna. Dazu kommt der Außenbereich unseres Schwimmbads, wo die Kunden sich auf unseren balinesischen Betten sonnen können.Was für Behandlungen in der Kabine bieten Sie an?

Wir haben ein weit gefächertes Angebot: Zu den traditionellen Gesichtsbehandlungen kommen auch orientalische Techniken mit Steinen, Rosen oder äthe-rischen Ölen. Und zu den Körperbehandlungen bieten wir neben dem Peeling, um die Haut auf die Sonne vorzubereiten und mit Sauerstoff zu versorgen, auch Einwickeln in Schlamm, Schokolade, Algen und Aloe Vera aus Fuerteventura an, die wir jede Woche frisch geliefert bekommen. Wir machen auch Masken mit Rasul aus Marokko sowie Peelings mit schwarzer Seife (aus schwarzen Oiliven) und Eucalypthus. All dies ge-hört zu zum Trend, asiatische Methoden einzusetzen.

Werden in dem Thalasso auch traditionelle Körper-massagen gemacht?

Ja natürlich, unter den Massagen haben wir die Anti-Cellulite und die entspannende. Zu den besonderen Massagen, die wir anbieten, gehören Lymphdrainage, Vorbereitung auf die Geburt, Aromatherapie, Sportmas-sage und orientalische Techniken: Die Massage mit Bambus ist straffend, die Massage mit chinesischen Kugeln dagegen ist entspannend. Dazu kommt auch die Lomi-Lomi-Massage, eine Technik aus Hawaii, die sehr angenehm ist, weil man während der 85-minütigen Behandlung das Gefühl hat, Wellen zu spüren.Worin besteht die Massage mit chinesischen Kugeln?

Sie ähnelt der Yoga-Massage, und es besteht eine große Nachfrage danach. Es sind Kugeln, die Tau-sende von musikalischen Tönen erzeugen und dem Körper das Gefühl von Wohlbefinden verschaffen, während sich der Geist entspannt.Es ist überraschend, wie vielseitig und originell Ihr Angebt ist...

We are visiting the Barceló Fuerteventura Thalasso Spa in El Castillo, where we are received by Víctor Díaz, deputy director of the Hotel and Clarisse Oliveira, manager of the Thalasso Spa.

They were both kind enough to answer a few ques-tions and clarify a few doubts that we sometimes get about those relaxation, health and beauty centres that tend to be linked with prominent hotel chains.Maybe the first question that people have in mind is the following: are those facilities exclusively for hotel guests?

Víctor Díaz – No, absolutely not, we are actually expanding our installations in order to increase our capacity and range of activities for our clients who regularly visit the centre. Our idea is to create a Club of local members and this is why we are bringing in novelties and increasing our range of services.

This SPA has got a corporate brand on the level of Barceló which is U Spa. We have an external business that advises us and standardises all the treatments and protocols of the SPAs of the Barceló hotels that

are included in the U Spa brand. This way, clients who visit one of our U SPA, anywhere, know that they will get the same type of treatment. Those premises represent 4.000 m2 and our services will increase from next month with 2 or 3 courts of Padel tennis, as well as tennis courts and indoor football.

We aim for our members to be able to enjoy the courts as well as the gymnasium that is hardly one year old and contains the latest generation of equipment. In addition to our well known sea water installations, (those that allow us to call ourselves Thalasso as well as SPA), facial and body treatments, which the manager of the centre will talk about in more detail later and various classes of yoga, Pilates, fitball and aquafitness, we also organise private classes that can be pre-book with an ATR expert (Accident Trauma Release) which is a type of innovative therapy that has generated great results and aquaba-lance that are specific stretching exercises in water that bring great relaxation. And to complete our range of services to our Club members, we have organised some weekly events since July called Chill&SPA Lounge.On which day do you organise those events?

healthy gastronomy menu, members can enjoy for three hours, the water circuit, accompanied by enjo-yable Chill Out music and nice lighting. We are hoping to get those evenings to become another Friday night option for leisure as well as health and beauty. We are planning to continue with those events all winter, using the centres’ indoor spaces.What motivated this focus on the island’s resi-dents?

Fuerteventura has grown a lot, the population is in-creasing constantly and demands more services, both for leisure and for they own wellness and we wish to bring a clear message to them that indicates that our facilities are also made for them and not only for tourists. Very often people feel unsure about entering hotel premises without being guests there and we want them to stop feeling this way. As our centre is close to the capital and more or less in the centre of the island, we feel that it is at the reach of the whole island’s population.Clarisse, tell us about the treatments that are avai-lable in the centre…

In addition to the sea water circuit that consists of six pools with different ambiances, temperatures and all kinds of underwater jets, we also have a Turkish bath, Jacuzzi, Musicarium, cold water cube, sauna and another very important part is the outdoor pool area that allows clients to enjoy the sun on our balinesas beds.What kind of cabin treatments do you offer?

Our treatment menu is extremely extensive: in addi-tion to facial treatments we also have oriental types of treatments that include stones, roses or essential oils. And for body treatments, in addition to peelings that

prepare the skin before taking the sun or oxygenate the skin, we offer wraps with mud, chocolate, seaweed and Aloe Vera from Fuerteventura that is brought in fresh weekly. We also have Rasul masks that come from Morocco. There are all kinds of special exfoliations with black soap (made with black olives) and eucalyptus, all those are based on Asian types of treatments.Do you also carry out traditional body massages in the Thalasso centre?

Yes of course, amongst classic massages we have the anti-cellulite, relaxing, decontracting and Swedish massages. For specific massages, we offer lymphatic drainage, the Dulce Espera for pregnant women, aro-matherapy, sports’ massage and oriental massages: massages with bamboo canes that help tone up and a relaxing massage with Chinese balls as well as the Lomi Lomi, which is an Hawaiian technique, very enjoyable that gives a general flowing sensation that lasts for the whole 85 minute treatment.What is the massage with the Chinese balls?

It is similar to the yoga massage and is greatly demanded. Those balls create a special musicality and thousands of tones that create a general body wellbeing, while the mind evades and relaxes deeply.The variety is surprising and very original…

As we have international clients, who tend to travel a lot, their demands even more sophisticated. They are clients who are prone to trying new techniques and especially those that combine health, mind and beauty.

We also carry out Ayurveda treatments, for which the clients completes a test called dosha. This treatment of Hindu origins bases its efficiency on making the difference between each individual and it is through this test that we know which their dominant dosha is.

We also have a specialised therapist in Reiki mas-sages, a technique based on balance and energy ex-change which is more and more know and appreciated.Are there any other traditional services in your beauty centre…

Our winter opening hours are 10am until 7pm and the summer opening hours are 10am until 8pm, including Sundays and Bank Holidays and the latest evening classes are between 8:10pm until 9pm. However after the completion of the expansion that is currently underway and once the Sport’s Social Club project will be launched, we plan to increase our opening hours in the evening in order to accommoda-te our local clients and sports’ enthusiasts who will come to enjoy our new sports installations.

Das DatenschutzgesetzIn diesem Gesetz werden die Verpflichtungen aufge-

führt, die mit der Aufnahme von Daten, Zustimmung, Speicherung, Erhalt, Nutzung besonders geschützten Daten, Weitergabe oder deren Abtretung geregelt.

Die Agentur für Datenschutz betrachtet als Datei je-gliche Art von Trägern aus Papier und in elektronischer Form, wo wir persönliche Daten registrieren und spei-

chern, und das wir auf irgendeine Weise ordnen, damit ein Zugang nach Kriterien möglich ist. Dies ist eine einfa-che Art zu beschreiben, was eine Datei vor dem Gesetz ist.Wer ist verpflichtet, sich an dieses Gesetz zu halten?

La Ley Orgánica de protección de datos de carác-ter personal (LOPD) y el reglamento de medidas de seguridad de los ficheros automatizados con datos personales, son las disposiciones básicas para todas la empresas, profesionales autónomos ó comunidad de propietarios que en el desarrollo de su actividad traten datos de carácter personal.

En esta ley se establece las obligaciones relativas a la recogida de los datos, consentimiento, almacenaje, conservación, uso, datos especialmente protegidos, comunicación o cesión de los mismos.

La Agencia de protección de datos, entiende como fichero, cualquier tipo de soporte donde almacenamos y registramos los datos de carácter personal, ya sea en papel o informatizados y organizados de alguna manera para su acceso por criterios, esta es la forma sencilla de describir que es un fichero ante la ley.¿Quién esta obligado a cumplir con esta ley?

Todos los profesionales autónomos, comunidad de propietarios y empresas tanto privadas como pú-blicas, que tengan cámaras de vigilancia ó ficheros con datos de carácter personal de clientes, propie-tarios, inquilinos o empleados como son el nombre, DNI, dirección, teléfono, email ó cualquier datos que pueda identificar a una persona como por ejemplo una grabación de video en una cámara de seguridad.

El año pasado las multas por no registrarse eran de 600€ a día de hoy son 900€ y no hay ninguna posibi-lidad de apelación contra la resolución de la Agencia de protección de datos, ya que como Hacienda, es un organismo público.¿Qué plazo tengo para registrarme?

Hay que registrarse durante los primeros treinta días en el que empezamos a tratar datos de carácter personal. En la actualidad existen varios procedimien-tos sancionadores por la falta del registro del fichero.¿Si registro el fichero en la Agencia de Protección de Datos, ya cumplo con la Ley?

No, una vez registrado el fichero hay que crear el documento de seguridad, contratos de cesión de datos, procedimientos internos y varios documentos más y llevar un libro de incidencias de uso obligatorio para las auditorias e inspecciones entre otras cosas.

La ley de Protección de Datos

Si contamos con una oficina para el desarrollo de nuestra labor profesional, también se tiene que cumplir con ciertos requisitos de seguridad para el tratamiento de los datos de carácter personal.

Las inspecciones de la Agencia se realizan de oficio y sin previo aviso, aunque la ley dice que las auditorias obligatorias son cada dos años, suelen tardar muchísi-mo menos en realizarlas actualmente, si no hay ninguna denuncia pendiente. Por eso recomiendo realizar audi-torías internas cada seis meses o un año como máximo.Me dedico a un negocio en Internet, ¿estoy obligado a cumplir la Ley?

Sí, además de todos los requisitos que exige la ley para los negocios con presencia física, hay que cumplir con las obligaciones básicas que la ley exige para los negocios con presencia virtual.

Uno de los problemas de los propietarios de páginas web que recogen datos de carácter personal de sus visi-tantes o clientes mediante formularios, es la obtención del consentimiento por parte del cliente o visitante. Por desgracia, muchas páginas no cuentan con métodos de autentificación expresa por parte del cliente y esto suele

acabar en los tribunales por uso indebido de datos de carácter personal, con multas muy altas.¿Cuáles son las sanciones por no cumplir esta ley?

Hay tres tipos de sanciones, las leves, graves y muy graves, que van desde 900€ hasta 601.000€.

Por poner un ejemplo, no dar de alta un fichero en la Agencia de Protección de Datos, da lugar a una sanción entre 900€ hasta 60.000€, según cada caso, ya que hay que valorar varios factores del tipo de datos que se manejan. Una asesoría maneja da-tos bancarios de sus clientes, la multa rondaría los 45.000€ hasta 60.000€, pero un bar solo maneja datos de sus empleados, así la multa rondaría los 900€ a los 1.800€ de sanción.

Esta ley es muy severa con los propietarios de cá-maras de vigilancia, que graben las imágenes o no, con multas desde 1.800€ hasta los 600.000€, ya que al perder la exclusividad las empresas de seguridad en este campo, el gobierno aseguró que quien no cumplía con la ley de protección de datos con cáma-ras de vigilancia, las multas serian severísimas, y así son, hasta ahora ninguna multa a bajado de 6.000€.Esto parece bastante complicado y no me veo capaz de hacerlo solo.

Por suerte en España, existe una multitud de em-presas que pueden hacerse cargo de los trámites y adaptar su empresa a la ley de protección de datos.

Es recomendable buscar una empresa o un profe-sional que, aparte de un buen precio por el servicio, registre y asesore adecuadamente su empresa cum-pliendo con todos los aspectos obligatorios de la ley.

Se debe de tener en cuenta que aunque el registro lo realice una empresa o un profesional externo a la empre-sa, no exime de ser sancionados por no cumplir con las disposiciones de la Ley Orgánica de protección de datos.

Como en todos los campos hay personas que sin ningún tipo de preparación se dedican a realizar este tipo de trabajos aún sabiendo que la empresa a la que está asesorando saldrá perjudicada.

Es recomendable ir a la página de la Agencia de protección de datos por que existe multitud de de-mandas en trámite contra empresas que por el mal asesoramiento han incumplido la ley.

Dieses Gesetz ist sehr streng mit den Besitzern von Sicherheitskamaras, egal ob sie Aufnahmen machen. Sie können mit Sanktionen von 1.800 € bis 600.000 € bestraft werden. Als die Sicherheitsunternehmen die Exklusivität in diesem Bereich verloren haben, versicherte die Regierung, dass die Straßen für Ni-chteinhaltung sehr hart sein würden. Zum Glück gibt es in Spanien zahlreiche Unterneh-men, die die Formalitäten zur Erfüllung des Gesetzes zum Datenschutz für Ihre Firma erledigen können.

Es ist ratsam ein Unternehmen oder einen Exper-ten aufzusuchen, der einen angemessenen Preis für diese Leistung nimmt und Ihr Unternehmen registriert

und richtig berät, damit alle Aspekte des Gesetzes einhalten werden.

Man muss sich bewusst sein, dass man auch für Nicht-Einhalten des Gesetzes für Datenschutz bestraft werden kann, wenn man die eigene Firma von einem auswärtigen Experten oder Unternehmen registrieren lässt.

Wie in allen Bereichen, gibt es Leute, die sich dieser Tätigkeit widmen, ohne sich damit auszuken-nen, obwohl sie wissen, dass sie dadurch der Firma schaden, die sie beraten.

Man sollte die Website der Agentur für Datenschutz besuchen, denn es gibt zahlreiche Verfahren gegen Firmen, die aufgrund schlechter Beratung das Gesetz verletzt haben.

The Organic Law of the protection of data of a personal nature (LOPD) and the regularities of security measures of automated files with personal data, are the basics for all companies, self employed people or owners ́communities who in their day to day work, deal with personal data.

In this Law, obligations for the collection of data, con-sent, storage, conservation, use, specially protected data, communication or transfer of the same are established.

The data protection agency, understands files as any type of medium where personal data is stored, be it in paper format or computerized and organized in some way so that it can be accessed. This is the simplest way to describe what is a file is in this law.Who is obliged to comply with this law?

All self employed people, owners´ communities and companies, both private as well as public that have security cameras or files that hold personal data of their clients, owners, tenants or employees such as passport number/NIE, address, telephone number, email or any other data that could identify the person, ie a recording of a security camera.

However it must be remember that even though an external person or company registers your company, you are not exempt from being fined for not complying with the rest of the data protection act. As in all fields, there are people who carry out this task with no type of preparation.

El Cabildo de Fuerteventura ha iniciado la campaña de la aceituna a nivel insular con la puesta en marcha de la almazara que funciona en la Granja Agrícola y Experimental de Pozo Negro, instalaciones donde la institución coordinó recientemente la molienda de la primera cosecha del año.

La campaña se ha dividido en dos partes, la prime-ra dirigida a elaborar aceite de oliva con la cosecha más temprana, correspondiente a la variedad de aceituna arbequina, y la segunda que tendrá lugar a finales de septiembre con la molienda del resto de variedades como la picual, principalmente, y también otras como la hojiblanca o la local verdial de Huévar.

La Consejería de Agricultura, Ganadería y Pesca del Cabildo que dirigía todo el proceso, calculaba que al término de la campaña la almazara habrá molido en torno a unos 25.000 kilos de aceituna de las diferentes variedades, lo que permitirá obtener, dependiendo de la productividad de la cosecha, entre 3.000 y 4.000 litros de aceite de oliva virgen extra 100% majorera.

La consejera del área, Rita Díaz, visitó las instala-ciones de la almazara, donde tuvo lugar una visita con los medios de comunicación de la Isla para mostrar el proceso de elaboración del aceite. “Entre la pasada y la presente semana la almazara ha procesado unos 10.000 kilos de aceituna, restando unos 2.500 para finalizar con la primera parte de la campaña. Quince agricultores nos han traído ya su cosecha, y las expec-tativas son que al término de la campaña esta cifra alcance los 30 agricultores”, declaró la consejera.

Rita Díaz incidió en que cada vez son más los agricultores que practican la olivocultura de manera especializada en Fuerteventura, y además muchos de ellos de una manera completamente ecológica. Desde que en el año 2008 la almazara del Cabildo comenzara a funcionar con todas las garantías de registro sanitario, unido a la gran calidad del aceite que se ha venido produciendo desde entonces, la situación es cada vez más atractiva para el sector agrícola, y es por ello que desde el Cabildo seguire-

La almazara de Pozo Negro funciona con un siste-ma de extracción mecánica en frío con capacidad de molturar hasta 600 kilos de aceituna cada hora, lo que permite producir en torno a 100 litros de aceite en ese intervalo. Se trata de una maquinaria adqui-rida por el Cabildo en 2006, en colaboración con la Caja Rural de Canarias.

Los técnicos de la almazara toman una muestra de un kilogramo de cada una de las cosechas que entregan los agricultores en la Granja e Pozo Negro. Los análisis posteriores de las muestras y del acei-te resultante permitirán determinar la calidad del producto.

El primer paso del proceso es la introducción de la aceituna en la tolva, de donde se eleva por un tubo equipado con un molino sinfín hasta la teja, que introduce lentamente la aceituna en el martillo. En el martillo se tritura la aceituna y va cayendo a la ba-tidora, donde la pasta permanece unos 45 minutos. Una bomba de masa hace pasar la pasta al decante, donde por centrifugación se separa el alpeorujo o alpiche (restos) del aceite final.

En una estancia contigua a la almazara se almace-nan los diferentes lotes de cada agricultor. Al tercer día de la molienda, se realiza a cada lote un desfan-gado, que permite eliminar los restos más gruesos. Por último, el aceite debe permanecer entre 20 días y un mes en reposo para que se estabilice y suavice el producto antes de alcanzar el momento más apto para su consumo.

El Cabildo de Fuerteventura cuenta ahora mismo con tres formatos de envasado, uno de plástico de 3 litros de capacidad, otra botella de 3/4 de litro de cris-tal, y otra pequeña botella de cristal de 250 mililitros.

Las experiencias anteriores de elaboración de aceite de oliva virgen extra en Fuerteventura han per-mitido constatar la calidad del producto, que ofrece unas características organolépticas, físico-químicas y alimenticias excepcionales.



Der Cabildo von Fuerteventura hat die Olivenkam-pagne auf Insel-Ebene mit der Inbetriebnahme der Ölmühle auf dem experimentellen Bauernhof von Pozo Negro begonnen. In dieser Einrichtung koor-dinierte die Inselregierung kürzlich das Mahlen der ersten Ernte des Jahres.

Die Kampagne wurde in zwei Teile eingeteilt. Zuerst wird Öl aus der jüngsten Ernte erzeugt, und zwar aus der Olivenart Arbequina. Ende September werden dann die übrigen Arten gemahlen, vor allem Picual, aber auch andere Arten wie Hojiblanca und die örtli-che Art Verdial de Huévar.

Das Amt Landwirtschaft, Viehzucht und Fischerei des Cabildo, das das gesamte Verfahren leitet, hat ausgerechnet, dass am Ende dieser Kampagne ungefähr 25.000 Kilo verschiedener Olivensorten gemahlen worden sind. Daraus werden – abhängig von der Produktivität der Ernte - 3.000 bis 4.000 kaltgepresstes Olivenöl gewonnen, das zu 100% aus Fuerteventura kommt.

Die Beauftragte für diesen Bereich, Rita Díaz, be-suchte die Mühle, wo eine Führung für die Medien der Insel stattfand, bei der das Mahlverfahren erklärt wurde. „In den letzten beiden Wochen wurden in der Mühle ungefähr 10.000 Kilo Öl verarbeitet. Im Rah-men des ersten Teils der Kampagne müssen noch ungefähr 2.500Kilo gemahlen werden. Fünfzehn Landwirte haben uns schon ihre Ernte gebracht, und wir gehen davon aus, dass sich an dieser Kampagne insgesamt 30 Landwirte beteiligen werden”, erklärte die Beauftragte für Landwirtschaft.

Rita Díaz erklärte, dass immer mehr Landwirte auf Fuerteventura den spezialisierten Olivenanbau betreiben. Viele davon machen dies vollkommen ökologisch. Seitdem im Jahr 2008 die Ölmühle des Cabildo in Betrieb genommen wurde und dabei über alle Garantien des sanitären Registers verfügt, und außerdem hochwertiges Öl erzeugt, ist sie immer interessanter für den Landwirtschaftssektor. Deshalb wird der Cabildo weiterhin diese Kultur auf der Insel fördern”.

MalverfahrenDie Mühle von Pozo Negro hat ein mechanisches

Kaltpress-System und eine Kapazität für bis zu 600 Kilo Oliven pro Stunde, was es ermöglicht, in dieser Zeit ungefähr 100 Liter Öl zu erzeugen. Diese Mas-chine wurde im Jahr 2006 vom Cabildo und der Caja Rural de Canarias gemeinsam erworben.

Die Techniker der Mühle entnehmen von jeder Ernte, die auf Granja de Pozo Negro abgegeben wird, eine Probe, die ein Kilo wiegt. Aufgrund dieser Untersuchungen und dem daraus gewonnen Öl wird die Qualität des Produktes bestimmt.

Der erste Schritt des Verfahrens ist es die Olive in den Trichter zu geben. Dort wird sie in einem Rohr, das mit einer Mühle ausgestattet ist, bis zum Teja befördert, der die Olive langsam unter den Hammer bringt. Der Hammer zertrümmert die Olive, die in das Rührwerk fällt. Dort bleibt sie 45 Minuten. Eine Massenpumpe befördert die Paste zum Abguss, wo der Alpeorujo oder Alpiche (Rest) durch Schleudern vom restlichen Öl getrennt wird.

Die Anteile eines jeden Landwirtes werden in

einem an die Mühle angrenzenden Raum gelagert. Drei Tage nach dem Malverfahren werden aus dem Öl die dicksten Reste entfernt. Zum Schluss muss das Öl 20 bis 30 Tage ruhen, damit das Produkt sich stabilisiert und weicher wird, so dass es sich besser für den Verbrauch eignet.

Der Cabildo von Fuerteventura verfügt inzwischen über drei Verpackungsformate: ein Plastikgefäß mit einer Kapazität für 3 Liter, eine ¾-Liter Glasflasche und eine kleinere Glasflasche für 250 Milliliter.

Aufgrund der Kenntnisse des kaltgepressten Öls, das in der Vergangenheit auf Fuerteventura gewon-nen wurde, ist es möglich, die Qualität des Produktes festzustellen, das außerordentliche organoleptische, physio-chemische und nahrhafte Eigenschaften hat.

La nueva consejera de Agricultura, Ganadería y Pesca del Cabildo, trae un bagaje de muchos años en la política concretamente desde 1991. Unas veces con cargos de gobierno y otras en la oposición, son diferentes las labores que ha desarrollado a lo largo de estos años. Dos veces alcaldesa en Tuineje, conse-jera y también directora insular del Gobierno central y por último, parlamentaría antes de tomar posesión de esta Consejería tras las últimas elecciones.

Rita Díaz es maestra de profesión, actividad que sirgue ejerciendo cuando es compatible con sus cargos públicos. Fiel militante del Partido Socialista, se define de gesto serio, pero por el contrario su trato es cordial y cercano. Rita ¿cómo se siente en este nuevo cargo?

No es un sector desconocido para mí; toda mi vida he tenido contactos con este sector y con la gente que se dedica a estas actividades.¿Cómo ve el sector primario de la isla?

Se ha avanzado mucho, pero lo que tengo claro es que necesita mucha más ayuda todavía. Hay muchos recursos y potencial que aún está por desarrollar y desde el Cabildo tenemos que liderar ese proceso.

Todos sabemos que Fuerteventura es una isla con mucho territorio aunque sea árido y con ciertas ca-racterísticas difíciles, si potenciamos la agricultura y la ganadería lo primero que debemos pensar es en facilitar al máximo el suministro de agua agrícola. Cuidar la calidad y especialmente el precio.

A Fuerteventura se le especializó en el cultivo del tomate, que en su momento fue muy importante y generó muchos puestos de trabajo, pero hoy en día el tomate ha reducido mucho la producción y el espacio de cultivo. Entre otras razones porque los convenios que se hicieron con Marruecos, perjudicaron bastante la producción y exportación de nuestros tomates. Esto nos posibilitará ampliar los cultivos, aumentando la variedad además de la cantidad.

Por otro lado, para ayudar a crecer nuestra gana-dería, necesitamos potenciar el cultivo de las plantas forrajeras, con la intención de abaratar el costo de la alimentación. Los cereales que se compran para alimento suben constantemente y ese encareci-miento recae sobre los ganaderos ya que el litro de leche o el kilo de queso no han subido desde hace muchos años.¿Y con respecto a la ganadería?

Mi intención es facilitar la legalización de las insta-laciones ganaderas, introduciendo mejoras para que

un momento de mirar hacia el campo y potenciarlo, porque es además una fuente importante de puestos de trabajo.

Hay que trabajar desde el Plan Insular de Orde-nación Territorial con el fin de eliminar todos los obstáculos que se les presenta a los agricultores y ganaderos en el campo majorero. También hay que trabajar coordinadamente con los ayuntamientos para eliminar ciertas normas o barreras que impiden en muchos casos la legalización y el desarrollo de este sector.Se habla mucho del crecimiento del turismo rural. ¿Cuál es su opinión?

El turismo rural va en auge desde luego, pero para potenciar este turismo, tenemos que preocuparnos de embellecer el interior de la isla, sus pueblitos. El entorno es importante y cuidar muchas cosas que representan la identidad de la isla y que pueden ser un atractivo para este turismo. Para terminar una pregunta personal. ¿De todos los cargos que ha tenido en política cual es el que más le ha gratificado?

No sabría decirle, solo sé que en todos los cargos he estado al servicio del ciudadano y que intentado en todos ellos trabajar con responsabilidad.

Para las tres Cofradías que representan la pesca en la isla, el Cabildo mantiene diferentes actuaciones, como por ejemplo la Lonja que se está construyendo en el Cotillo y con la cofradía de Corralejo en un seca-dero de pescado y en las demás cofradías estamos analizando sus necesidades para poder ayudarles.

De hecho lo primero que he realizado el primer mes de mi mandato es visitar y reunirme con todos los representantes de los distintos sectores y diferen-tes asociaciones para poder tener una idea global y particular de las necesidades tanto conjuntas como individuales. De esta manera podremos priorizar en función de cada caso.Puede decir que ha sido un mes de asentamiento en el cargo.

sample of each harvest that is brought in by farmers in Pozo Negro’s Farm. The analysis carried out thereaf-ter of the sample and the oil produced will determine the quality of the product.

The first phase is the introduction of the olives in a chute, where a tube equipped with a grinder slowly brings the olives to the hammer. This is where the olives are crushed and fall into the mixer where they remain for 45 minutes. The paste is sent to decant, where the solid paste is separated from the final oil by centrifuge force.

The harvest of the each farmer is kept in a room next to the mill. On the third day of grinding, each lot is cleaned, called “desfangado”, which eliminates the thicker bits. Finally, the oil is left to rest between 20 days and one month so that the product stabilises and softens before reaching the moment when it is ready to be consumed.

Fuerteventura’s Cabildo currently has three formats of containers, one 3 litre plastic container, a ¾ litre glass bottle and another small 250 millilitre glass bottle.

Previous experiences of olive oil production of extra virgin olive oil from Fuerteventura has demonstrated the quality of the product, that offers exceptional organoleptic, physical-chemical and nutritious cha-racteristics.



Die neue Beauftragte für Landwirtschaft, Viehzucht und Fischerei des Cabildo macht seit 1991 Politik. Manchmal hatte sie Regierungsämter und manchmal war sie in der Opposition. Im Laufe dieser Jahre hat sie verschiedene Tätigkeiten ausgeübt. Sie war zwei Mal Bürgermeisterin von Tuineje, Rätin sowie Inseldi-rektorin der Zentralregierung. Bis sie nach den letzten Wahlen ihr Amt als Beauftragte für Landwirtschaft antrat, war sie Abgeordnete.

Rita Díaz ist eigentlich Lehrerin und übt diese Täti-gkeit immer noch aus, wenn dies mit ihren öffentli-chen Ämtern zu vereinbaren ist. Sie bezeichnet sich mit ernstem Gesicht als eine treue Kämpferin der Sozialistischen Partei, wenn man mit ihr zu tun hat, ist sie jedoch offen und freundlich. Rita, wie fühlen Sie sich in Ihrem neuen Amt?

Dieser Sektor ist nicht neu für mich; ich hatte mein ganzes Leben lang mit diesem Sektor und mit den Leuten, die sich dieser Tätigkeit widmen, zu tun.Wie sehen Sie den Primärsektor der Insel?

men mit Marokko geschädigt. Deshalb haben wir die Möglichkeit, mehr verschiedene Arten anzubauen, anstatt nur auf die Quantität zu setzen.

Um das Wachstum unserer Viehzucht zu unters-tützen, müssen wir den Anbau von Futterpflanzen fördern, damit die Ernährung des Viehs billiger wird. Das Getreide, das für die Ernährung der Tiere gekauft wird, wird immer teurer, und diese Last wird von den Viehzüchtern getragen. Die Preise für Milch und Käse sind dagegen seit Jahren nicht gestiegen.Was haben Sie im Bereich der Viehzucht vor?

Ich möchte die Zulassung von landwirtschaftlichen Betrieben erleichtern, indem ich Verbesserungen ein-führe, so dass die Viehzüchter sich dafür entscheiden können, ihre Produkte zu registrieren und sie mit dem

Gütesiegel von Fuerteventura zu verkaufen. Dafür müssen zahlreiche Bedingungen erfüllt werden, die von der EU gestellt werden. Das ist für einige unserer kleinen Viehzuchtbetriebe sehr hart.Erzählen Sie uns bitte etwas über die Fischerei.

Der Cabildo führt verschiedene Maßnahmen für die drei Fischerzünfte durch, die die Fischer der Insel vertreten. Zum Beispiel wird ein Fischmarkt in El Cotillo gebaut. Mit der Fischerzunft von Corralejo wird ein Trockenplatz eingerichtet. Außerdem sind wir dabei zu untersuchen, was die anderen Fischerzünfte brauchen, um ihnen besser helfen zu können.

Das erste was ich im ersten Monat meines Amtes getan habe, war, mich mit allen Vertretern der vers-chiedenen Sektoren und Verbände zu treffen, um zu sehen, was los ist und welche individuellen und kollektiven Bedürfnisse bestehen. Auf diese Weise können wir in jedem Fall Prioritäten setzen.Würden Sie sagen, dass dies der Monat war, in dem Sie sich auf Ihr Amt eingestellt haben.

Was denken Sie darüber?

Der ländliche Tourismus ist im Kommen, aber um

diesen Tourismus zu stärken, müssen wir die das Binnenland der Insel und die dazugehörigen Dörfer verschönern. Die Umgebung ist wichtig. Wir müssen das pflegen, was für die Identität der Insel steht und für diesen Tourismus reizvoll sein kann. Zum Schluss noch eine persönliche Frage. Welches der vielen politischen Ämter, die Sie hatten, hat Sie am meisten befriedigt?

Das könnte ich nicht sagen. Ich weiß nur, dass ich alle Ämter im Dienst der Bürger ausgeübt habe und dass ich mich immer bemüht habe, verantwortlich zu handeln.



The new Cabildo’s Agriculture, Livestock and Fis-hing Councillor has many years experience in politics, to be exact since 1991. Sometimes with duties at the government and others at the opposition, she has had various responsibilities along the years. She was Mayor of Tuinieje twice, Councillor and also Island Director of the Central Government and finally Member of Parliament before becoming Councillor for the last three terms.

Rita Díaz’s occupation is teaching, an activity that she still practises when it is compatible with her public duties. She is a faithful militant for the Socialist Party, has a very serious expression but on the contrary, her manner is warm and approachable.Rita, how do you feel in this new role?

It is not a sector that is unknown to me; I have had contacts with this sector all my life and with people who have dedicated themselves to those activities.How do you see the primary sector of the island?

It has advanced a lot, but what is clear is that it still needs a lot more support. There are many resources and potential that remain to be developed and the Cabildo must lead this process.

We all know that Fuerteventura is an island that contains a lot of territory, despite being arid and with difficult characteristics, if we promote agriculture and livestock, the first thing we need to think about is providing as much agricultural water as possible; while taking special care with its quality and price.

Fuerteventura used to specialise in the tomato pro-duction, which used to be very important and gene-rated a lot of employment, but nowadays the tomato production and its farming space have been reduced a lot. Amongst other reasons, the agreements that were done with Morocco are what were detrimental to our tomato production and exportation. This will allow us to increase production, increasing the varieties in addition to quantities.

sing in price which has an impact on livestock farmers because the price of the litre of milk or kilo of cheese has not risen for many years.How about livestock?

I intend to make the legalization process easier for livestock farms, by introducing improvements so that they can opt to register their products and com-mercialise them within the Majorero quality label. In order to do so they will have to comply with a series of requirements that is imposed by the EU. Tell us more about the fishing industry.

For the tree Associations that represent the fishing industry on the island, the Cabildo is investing in different initiatives, such as the Lonja (Fish Market) that is being built in El Cotillo and for Corralejo’s Asso-ciation with a fish drying place and we are analysing the other associations’ needs in order to be able to support them.

The first thing I did on the first month of my man-date was to meet with all the representatives of the

various sectors and associations in order to have a global and true idea of the necessities both global and individual. This way we will be able to prioritise depending on each case.We could say that you have been settling in your duties for the past month.

Fuerteventura afronta el proceso de aprobación inicial de su principal herramienta de desarrollo. La Consejería de Ordenación del Territorio ha iniciado una ronda de contactos con los ayuntamientos ma-joreros para recoger sus aportaciones al Plan Insular de Ordenación (PIOF), el documento que establece las líneas generales de crecimiento económico y social.

La consejera de Ordenación del Territorio del Ca-bildo de Fuerteventura, Ornella Chacón, comenzó la ronda de contactos con los seis municipios majoreros en la capital. El alcalde, Marcial Morales, planteó la cuestión de los asentamientos rurales.

El futuro de los pueblos majoreros, dado los cambios en la legislación autonómica, pasa por la estrecha colaboración de las instituciones de la isla. La consejera Chacón mostró su sensibilidad por esta cuestión y se comprometió a elaborar una salida satisfactoria para los vecinos.

El pasado mes de septiembre tuvo lugar la reunión con el Ayuntamiento de Pájara. Su alcalde, Rafael Perdomo, puso sobre la mesa varios asuntos de especial significación para el sur de la isla.

Destacó la necesidad de “reequilibrar” la distri-bución de las infraestructuras turísticas, sociales y sanitarias a lo largo de la geografía insular.

Fuerteventura is going through the process of initial approval for its main development tool. The Territory Development Council has started contacting the Majorero ayuntamientos in order to get their input into the Island’s Development Plan (Plan Insular de Ordenación – PIOF), a document that establishes the main lines of economical and social growth.

tacts in all six Majorero municipalities in the capital. The Mayor, Marcial Morales, raised the questions of the rural settlements.

The future of the Majorero villages, considering the changes in the autonomous legislation, includes the close collaboration with the island’s institutions. The councillor, Ms. Chacón, showed her interest in this question and committed herself to find a satisfactory solution for habitants.

In September, the meeting with Pájara’s Ayun-tamiento took place. The Mayor, Rafael Perdomo, proposed various matters especially significant for the southern area of the island.

He pointed out the necessity to balance the geo-graphical distribution of tourism, social and health infrastructures all over the island.

El Cabildo, a través de la Consejería de Infraestruc-turas invierte un total de 1.039.157’41 euros en las obras para la construcción de los dos nuevos cruces en los barrancos de Ajuy (carretera FV 621) y Cardón (FV618), en ambos casos ubicados en el término municipal de Pájara.

El anuncio para la contratación se publicó en el Boletín Oficial de la Provincia del pasado septiembre, y cuenta con un plazo máximo de 4 meses para su eje-cución: En ambos casos se trata de obras de drenaje transversal que den una solución definitiva, después de que durante los últimos meses se hayan habilitado dos conexiones de forma temporal, por los problemas generados con las lluvias a comienzos del año.

En el caso de la carretera de Ajuy, la solución técnica adoptada plantea una plataforma de hormigón de 12 metros de ancho, con dos carriles de 3’5 metros de ancho, dos arcenes de 1’5 metros de anchos y dos bermas de 1 metro de ancho cada una. El estudio de la media diaria de circulación de vehículos por la red viaria correspondiente al año 2010 indica que se contabilizó una media de 1.110 vehículos diarios. En términos comparativos, este tramo de la carretera registra un descenso de -3’73% de vehículos diarios con respecto a 2006, cuando se contabilizaron 1.153 vehículos.

En Cardón, el tramo resultante tendrá un ancho de 9 metros, con dos carriles de 3’5 metros de ancho, dos arcenes de 0’5 metros y dos bermas de 0’5 metros de ancho. El estudio de media de circulación diaria de 2010 contabilizó 915 vehículos en 2010, lo que significa una reducción porcentual de- -19’53% en los últimos cinco años (2006 registró una media de 1.137 vehículos).

The study of the daily average traffic in 2010 indicated 915 vehicles, which represents a decrease of 19,53% in the past five year as 2006 registered an average of 1.137 vehicles.

darstellen. Die Probleme, die vom Regen am Anfang des Jahres verursacht worden waren, sind in den letzten Monaten durch provisorische Verbindungen gelöst werden.

Im Fall der Straße von AjuY sieht die angenommene technische Lösung eine 12 Meter breite Betonplat-te mit 2 Spuren vor, die 3,5 Meter breit sind, zwei Randspuren, die 1,5 Meter breit sind und zwei Straß-enränder, von denen jeder einen Meter breit ist. Aus der Untersuchung vom Jahr 2010 über die Frequenz von Autos pro Tag im Verkehrsnetz geht hervor, dass

durchschnittlich 1.110 Fahrzeuge erfasst wurden. Dies sind 3,73% weniger als im Jahr 2006; damals wurden 1.153 Fahrzeuge erfasst.

In Cardón wird die Strecke 9 Meter breit sein und zwei Spuren haben, die 3,5 Meter breit sind, zwei Randspuren, die 0,5 Meter breit sind und zwei Straß-enränder, die 0,5 Meter breit sind. Estas investigaciones buscan conocer, recuperar y conservar el patrimonio vitivinícola canario y ofre-cer al viticultor nuevas posibilidades de cultivo que hagan destacar el vino de las Islas en los mercados exteriores

El Gobierno de Canarias a través del Instituto Canario de Investigaciones Agrarias (ICIA)-organismo autóno-mo adscrito a la Consejería de Agricultura, Ganadería, Pesca y Aguas- ha desarrollado estudios que desvelan la existencia de 50 variedades de uva en peligro de extinción en las Islas y han permitido descubrir otras 29 variedades desconocidas hasta ahora.

Estas investigaciones, cuyos resultados fueron presentados recientemente en una charla y cata de uvas organizadas por el ICIA en el Casino de La Laguna (Tenerife) e impartidas por la investigadora Inmaculada Rodríguez, tienen como objetivo conocer, recuperar y conservar el rico patrimonio vitivinícola canario y ofrecer al viticultor nuevas posibilidades de cultivo que hagan destacar el vino isleño en los mercados exteriores, cada vez más exigentes.

A partir de las 231 entradas analizadas- 142 pertenecientes a la Colección de Variedades de Vid del ICIA procedentes de todas las islas y cuyo origen se remonta a los años ochenta, y 89 recolectadas en el Archipiélago- se ha descubierto que existen 29 variedades sin sinonimia en la Península y que no pertenecen a ninguna Denominación de Origen canaria, es decir, son totalmente desconocidas y su presencia en Canarias es testimonial.

Se ha constatado también la existencia de otras 50 variedades que, si bien algunas pertenecen a Denominaciones de Origen, se cultivan de forma tan escasa, que se encuentran en peligro de extinción, por lo que su estudio es prioritario para conservar el patrimonio y la diversidad de uvas presentes en las Islas y ampliar las opciones de cultivo de que dispo-nen los agricultores canarios.

De estos análisis se desprende que existen bastan-tes sinonimias-si una misma variedad es denominada con dos o más nombres diferentes dependiendo de

su lugar de cultivo- entre variedades cultivadas en Canarias, la Península, Portugal, Azores y Madeira, pero también hay un amplio número de variedades que se cultivan de forma exclusiva en nuestras islas, y que, a través de su conocimiento varietal podremos conservar como material vegetal para difundirlo entre los agricultores.

A finales del siglo XIX la filoxera arrasó parte del vi-ñedo existente en España y en Europa, pero la lejanía con respecto al continente europeo supuso un freno para la propagación en las Islas Canarias, por lo que se puede pensar que en nuestro Archipiélago aún perduran variedades que en el resto de Europa se han perdido.

Estos resultados se fundamentan en la identificación de estas muestras empleando distintos métodos de caracterización molecular y morfológica- que implica un examen y evaluación del material vegetal, teniendo en cuenta todos los órganos de la planta: el brote joven, el pámpano, la hoja joven y adulta, el racimo, la baya o fruto y el sarmiento-, así como la búsqueda de sino-nimias entre variedades cultivadas en el archipiélago, la Península y otros países europeos.

Una vez determinadas estas similitudes se trata de conocer su comportamiento agronómico y potencial enológico para poder aconsejar al viticultor sobre la adecuación de cada variedad en cada zona de cultivo.

Those surveys aim to know, recover and preserve the winemaking heritage of the Canaries and offer vine growers new opportunities that will show off the Islands’ wine on foreign markets.

The Canarian Government through the Canarian Institute of Agricultural Investigations (ICIA) – an au-tonomous organisation assigned to the Agricultures, Livestock, Fishing and Water Council – has developed studies that show the existence of 50 varieties of gra-pe that are in danger of extinction in the Islands and allowed for another 29 varieties that were unknown to be discovered.

Those researches, whose results were recently presented in a meeting organised by the ICIA in the Casino of La Laguna (Tenerife) and carried out by the researcher Inmaculada Rodríguez, aim at knowing, recovering and preserving the rich wine heritage of the Canaries and offer vine growers new opportunities that will show off the Islands’ wine on foreign markets, which are more and more demanding.

From the 231 entries analysed - 142 belong to the Collection of Varieties of the ICIA’s grapevines that comes from all the islands and whose origins date back to the eighties, and 89 collected in the Archi-pelago – it was discovered that 29 varieties did not have a match on Mainland Spain and don’t belong to any Canarian denomination of Origin, which means that they are totally unknown and their presence in the Canaries is testimonial.

It has also been demonstrated that another 50 varieties (a few of them belong to the Denomination of Origin) are cultivated in such a scarce manner, that they find themselves in danger of extinction. This

research is therefore a priority in order to preserve the heritage and diversity of the wines present in the Islands and increase the growing options that Canarian farmers have.

This analysis shows that there are quite a few synon-ymies – if a variety is denominated with two or more different names depending on the area where it is cultivated – amongst varieties grown in the Canaries, Mainland Spain, Portugal, the Azores and Madeira, but there are also many varieties that are cultivated exclusively in the Canary Islands, and by knowing their varieties, it will be possible to preserve them as vegetal material to be disseminated amongst farmers.

At the end of the 19th century, phylloxera devasta-ted part of the existing vineyards in Spain and Europe, but the distance with the European continent created a barrier against propagation in the Canary Islands,

which probably means that in the Canaries some varieties have survived whereas they have been lost in the rest of Europe.

Those results are based on the identification of those samples using various methods of molecular characterisation and morphology – that implies a survey and evaluation of the vegetal material, taking into account all the organs of the plant: the young shoot, the tendril, the young and adult leaf, the bunch, the fruit and the vine shoot -, as well as the search for synonymies between varieties cultivates in the Archipelago, Mainland Spain and other European countries.

Once those similarities have been determined, their agronomy behaviour and oenology potential have to be assessed in order to advise vine growers on which variety is adequate to each area.

Die Regierung der Kanaren hat über das kanarische Institut für landwirtschaftliche Forschung (ICIA) - ein autonomer Organismus, der zum Amt für Landwirts-chaft, Viehzucht, Fischerei und Gewässer gehört – eine Untersuchung durchgeführt, aus der hervorgeht, dass es auf den Inseln 50 vom Aussterben bedrohte Traubenarten gibt. Außerdem wurden 29 weitere Arten entdeckt, die bis jetzt nicht bekannt waren.

Mit dieser Untersuchung, deren Ergebnisse kürzlich bei einem Vortrag mit Traubenprobe des ICIA im Ca-sino de La Laguna (Teneriffa) bekannt gegeben und von der Wissenschaftlerin Inmaculada Rodríguez geleitet wurden, wird beabsichtigt, die reichhaltige Weinbaukultur der Kanaren kennenzulernen, wie-derzubeleben und zu erhalten und dem Weinbauern neue Möglichkeiten des Weinbaus anzubieten, um die Weine der Inseln auf dem ausländischen Markt zu verkaufen, der immer anspruchsvoller wird.

Von 231 untersuchten Arten gehörten 142 zur Sammlung von Weinarten des ICIA von allen Inseln, die in den 80er Jahren entstanden, und 89 wurden im Archipel geerntet – außerdem wurde entdeckt, dass es 29 Arten gibt, für die es auf dem spanischen Fest-land keine Namen gibt und die zu keiner kanarischen Ursprungsbezeichnung gehören. Das heißt, dass sie völlig unbekannt sind und dass ihre Anwesenheit auf den Kanaren als Zeugnis verbürgt ist.

Es wurde außerdem festgestellt, dass es 50 weitere Arten gibt, die – obwohl einige zu Ursprungsbezeich-nungen gehören – kaum angebaut werden und vom Aussterben bedroht sind. Deshalb ist die Untersuchung dieser Arten eine Priorität, um das Erbe und die Viel-falt der Trauben auf den Inseln zu erhalten und den kanarischen Weinbauern mehr Optionen anzubieten.

Aus dieser Untersuchung ergibt sich, dass es unter den Arten, die auf den Kanaren, dem spanischen Fest-land, in Portugal, auf den Azoren und auf Madeira ange-baut werden, zahlreiche Synonyme gibt (wenn es eine Art mit zwei oder mehrere Namen gibt, die vom Ort des Anbaus abhängig sind). Es gibt jedoch auch zahlreiche Arten, die ausschließlich auf unseren Inseln angebaut werden und die wir, wenn wir sie kennen, erhalten kön-

nen, um sie unter den Landwirten zu verbreiten.Am Ende des XIX. Jahrhunderts zerstörte die

Reblaus einen Teil der Weinberge in Spanien und Europa. Aufgrund der Entfernung zum europäischen Kontinent konnte diese sich jedoch nicht auf den ka-narischen Inseln ausbreiten. Deshalb ist es möglich, dass es in unserem Archipel noch Arten gibt, die in Europa schon ausgestorben sind.

Diese Ergebnisse stützen sich darauf, dass bei der Identifizierung dieser Proben verschiedene Methoden für die molekulare und morphologische Bestimmung angewendet werden - dazu gehört die Untersuchung und Bewertung des pflanzlichen Materials, bei der alle Organe der Pflanze in Betracht gezogen werden: die junge Knospe, die Ranke, das junge und das erwach-sene Blatt, die Beere oder Frucht und die Rebe - sowie auf die Suche nach Synonymen zu anderen Arten, die im Archipel, in Spanien und in anderen europäischen Ländern angebaut werden.

Wenn diese Ähnlichkeiten festgestellt worden sind, muss ihr agronomisches Verhalten und ihr önologisches Potential festgestellt werden, damit die Weinbauer darüber beraten werden können, welche Art in ihr Anbaugebiet passt.

Los caballos tomaban la salida desde la Granja de Pozo Negro para participar en el Campeonato de Canarias Absoluto de resistencia ecuestre, que se celebraba en el marco del ‘I Raid Isla de Fuerte-ventura - Trofeo Naviera Armas’. Los participantes comenzaron a finalizar la primera de las cuatro fases de la competición tras completar los primeros 37 Km. de los 120 Km. en total que tiene el recorrido.

El fin de esta primera fase tuvo lugar en el Vet-Gate o campamento base que había sido instalado en el Ecomuseo de La Alcogida, en Tefía, donde se realiza-ron los controles de tiempo y veterinarios necesarios. En total son 35 los binomios caballo-jinete inscritos en las cinco categorías incluidas en este evento que organizan el Club Hípico Las Ánimas de Tetir, el Cabildo de Fuerteventura y la Federación Canaria de Hípica, contando con el patrocinio de Naviera Armas.

Los mencionados participantes en el Campeona-to de Canarias Absoluto competían en la categoría CEN** (2 Estrellas), que consta con un recorrido de 120,6 Km. divididos en cuatro fases de 37,1 Km., 37,3 Km., 25,4 Km. y 20,8 Km. Las tres últimas fases de este recorrido tuvieron su punto de salida y llegada en el Vet-Gate de Tefía, y concuerdan con los diferentes recorridos que realizan los participantes dependiendo de la categoría y del nivel competitivo de los caballos.

La segunda competición en iniciarse tuvo lugar con la salida de los participantes en la categoría CEN* (1 Estrella, de 83,5 Km.), a los que siguieron los de la categoría Promoción o CET-P (46,2 Km.), y los de Iniciación o CET-I, de 20,8 Km.

Los cuatro recorridos habilitados por la organiza-ción incluyeron espectaculares tramos que discurrían por tres municipios de la Isla, Antigua, Puerto del Rosario y La Oliva, recorriendo atractivos paisajes de

localidades como Triquivijate, Los Llanos de la Con-cepción, Los Alares, La Ampuyenta o Tindaya. Cabe destacar que más del 90 por ciento de los recorridos transcurrieron íntegramente por tierra, evitando con ello el asfalto.

El evento cuentó con la presencia de los jueces internacionales Manuel Sánchez (delegado de la RFHE) y Heidi Gruetzmacher, o el veterinario por-tugués Nuno Vicente Prates como presidente de la

Comisión Veterinaria, que cuenta con cuatro especia-listas para asegurar el desarrollo de la competición. También participaba el colegiado grancanario Alexis Ruiz patrocinado por Naviera Armas S.A. como vete-rinario de campo.

La jueza Heidi Gruetzmacher destacó las especia-les características de Fuerteventura, “que al ser un territorio llano permite a los jinetes hacer la carrera a un ritmo mayor que en La Palma y Tenerife”, donde se realizan la mayoría de las competiciones y donde el terreno es más escarpado y cuenta con mayores desniveles.

Máximo control veterinario para la salud de los caballos

El veterinario portugués Nuno Vicente Prates, presidente de la Comisión Veterinaria del ‘I Raid Isla de Fuerteventura - Trofeo Naviera Armas’, resaltaba la importancia de los controles veterinarios que se realizan a todos los caballos antes, durante y después de la competición.

Prates explicaba como él y su equipo de veterinarios “estamos aquí para proteger al caballo y defender su salud, especialmente en pruebas de resistencia tan

exigentes como esta”. Para ello, los controles que realizamos se dividen en dos estadios, “una parte metabólica que nos sirve para ver si el animal está en condiciones de seguir en la prueba, y una parte mecánica en la que comprobamos que no presente claudicaciones o lesiones físicas”. En esta prueba el jinete hace trotar al caballo para que los veterinarios comprueben que el caballo no muestre signos de sufrir cojeras, heridas u otras lesiones.

“Es peligroso que continúe en carrera un caballo que se encuentra muy cansado”, dice el veterinario, y es por eso que en la parte metabólica realizamos diferentes pruebas que nos sirven para detectar su ni-vel de hidratación, medimos el pulso para comprobar que no supere las 64 pulsaciones/minuto (máximo para seguir en competición), vemos como va su res-piración y auscultamos también con el estetoscopio la actividad intestinal”, lo que permite conocer que su riego sanguíneo funciona correctamente y que no peligran sus órganos internos.

ANTIGUA CELEBRA EL DÍA GRANDE DE SUS FIESTAS EN HONOR A SU PATRONAAntigua celebró el día principal de sus fiestas en

honor a su patrona con una alta participación en los actos lúdicos y religiosos. La última gran verbena ani-mada por la música de la orquesta Estrella Latina, del Grupo Bomba y de Kandela congregó a unas 1.100 personas durante la noche de la víspera, que se unie-ron a la quema de fuegos artificiales, un espectáculo pirotécnico que corrió a cargo de los hermanos Toste y que anunció el comienzo del día grande.

La fiesta se trasladó después a las calles del pueblo sobre las seis de la mañana, donde la Banda de Agae-te realizó un recorrido para animar a todas aquellas personas que seguían con ganas de diversión. Los vecinos ofrecieron durante el trayecto el tradicional caldito de amanecida para los resacados, que termi-naron en la plaza con la fiesta de la espuma.

La función religiosa estuvo presidida por Rafael Antonio Tejera, párroco de San Juan de Las Palmas, que cumplía 25 años como sacerdote. El intenso calor reinante no impidió que los vecinos abarrotaran la iglesia para venerar a su patrona, y que también se dieran cita en el tradicional vino de honor al pueblo, presidido por las autoridades para brindar por las fiestas.

The party then went down to the streets of the villa-ge at about six in the morning, where the band Banda Agaete started playing and animated people who carried on partying. On the way, neighbours offered the traditional daybreak soup for the remaining crowd who ended up on the main square with the foam party.

The religious mass was lead by Rafael Antonio Tejera, the Parish Priest of San Juan de Las Palmas, who celebrated his 25 years in priesthood. The in-tense heat did not stop neighbours from filling up the church in order to honour their Patron Saint and also gathered together for the traditional drink in honour of the village that was organised by the authorities to make a toast to the festivities.ANTIGUA FEIERTE DEN GROSSEN TAG ZU

Die religiösen Akte leitete Rafael Antonio Tejera, der Pfarrer von San Juan de Las Palmas, der sein 25-jähri-ges Jubiläum als Priester feierte. Trotz der Hitze füllten die Anwohner die Kirche, um ihre Schutzherrin zu feiern. está realizando obras de acondicionamiento y reha-bilitación del cementerio municipal, con las que se pretende mejorar la calidad del campo santo, tanto estética como funcionalmente. La reforma comenzó recientemente y se prevé que termine en noviembre.

El proyecto incluye la rehabilitación del suelo de todo el cementerio, la creación de nuevos muros

delimitadores de la zona de jardines, la construcción de un muro en la parte oeste para el establecimiento de un área restringida y el cambio de puertas en mal estado. También se ejecutará un pequeño estudio de topografía para la creación de rampas accesibles para las personas con movilidad reducida.

Asimismo, las obras contemplan el mantenimiento de la escultura del Cristo Resucitado que se encuen-tra en el centro del cementerio, así como el soterra-miento de las instalaciones eléctricas y de fontanería en consonancia con el entorno.

ANTIGUA CARRIES OUT RESTORATION WORK IN THE CEMETERY

The Council of Works and Services of the Ayun-tamiento is carrying out restoration work in the municipal cemetery in order to improve the quality of the site both aesthetically and for practicality. The renovation work started recently and will be comple-ted in November.

The project includes the renovation of the ground in the whole cemetery, the creation of new perimeter walls in the landscaped area, the construction of a new wall in the West part for a restricted area to be created and a few worn out doors will be changed. A small topography survey will be carried out in order to create access ramps for people with reduced mobility.

Furthermore, the sculpture of the Chris Resurrected that is situated in the centre of the cemetery will be renovated and the electric network lines and water pipes will be buried in order to be more in keeping with the environment.

Damit wird beabsichtigt, das heilige Feld zu verschönern und funktionsfähiger zu machen. Die Arbeiten begannen vor kurzem, und es ist vorgesehen, dass sie im No-vember fertig werden.

Zu dem Projekt gehört die Sanierung des Bodens des gesamten Friedhofes, der Bau von neuen Trenn-mauern des Gartenbereiches, der Bau einer Mauer auf der Westseite zur Schaffung eines abgegrenzten Bereichs sowie die Erneuerung von Türen, die in schlechtem Zustand sind. Außerdem wird eine topo-grafische Untersuchung durchgeführt, um behinder-tengerechte Zugänge zu bauen.

Ferner werden im Mittelpunkt des Friedhofes Arbei-ten für die Instandhaltung der Statue des auferstan-denen Christus durchgeführt, und die elektrischen Leitungen und Rohre werden eingegraben.

La empresa dispondrá de una plantilla aproximada de 50 trabajadores y tendrá una superficie cons-truida, incluyendo área subterránea, de 7.710, 29 metros cuadrados, de los que 1.498 se destinarán a exposición y venta.

El equipo formado por Gustavo Sosa y Rogelio Peñate, piloto y copiloto del Mitsubishi Evo IX, con-siguió la victoria en la vigésima edición del Rally de Antigua, que congregó a miles de aficionados en las zonas habilitadas de los tres tramos cronometrados, por donde los vehículos pasaron otras tantas veces: Triquivijate-La Corte, Las Salinas del Carmen-Pozo Negro y Llanos de La Cancela-Circuito de Antigua. Este espectáculo del motor en pista de tierra contó con la participación de 24 equipos inscritos, que recorrieron un circuito de 78 kilómetros.

Sene Cazorla y Jessica Luzardo ocuparon la segun-da plaza de la clasificación, mientras que el equipo integrado por Manuel Gutiérrez Matoso y Enrique

Monagas quedó en tercer lugar, también con un Mitsubishi Evo. El rally fue dominado por el dúo Sosa-Peñate, que ganó en todos los tramos cronometrados y que no dio opción a sus competidores.

La prueba es valedera para el Campeonato de Canarias de Rallyes de Tierra, para el campeonato Provincial de Las Palmas y para el Campeonato de Rallyes de Tierra de Fuerteventura. Peñate, pilot and co-pilot of the Mitsubishi Evo IX, won the twentieth edition of Antigua’s Rally that gathered thousands of fans around the track where vehicles raced: Triquivijate – La Corte, Las Salinas del Carmen – Pozo Negro and Llanos de la Cancela – Circuito de Antigua. This motor show in earth tracks included 24 teams that raced around the 78 kilometre circuit.

Sene Cazorla and Jessica Luzardo took second place, while the team of Manuel Gutiérrez Matoso and Enrique Monagas stayed in third position, also with a Mitsubishi Evo. The Rally was dominated by the duo Sosa-Peñate, who won in each timed stretch and did not leave any options to their competitors.

This is a qualifying race for the Canaries Champion-ship of Earth Rallies, for the Provincial Las Palmas championship and for Fuerteventura’s Earth Rallies Championship. The race was organised by Maxo Sport racing team with the sponsorship of the Sports Coun-cil of Antigua’s Ayuntamiento and the collaboration of Fuerteventura’s Cabildo, to name a few.

ción marcaron la celebración de la romería popular y la ofrenda en honor a Nuestra Señora de Antigua. Ataviados con trajes típicos, unos 400 romeros, entre niños, jóvenes y adultos, realizaron el trayecto que partió desde el polideportivo municipal y concluyó en la plaza del pueblo. Allí veneraron a la virgen y dejaron a sus pies víveres y frutos de la tierra en la tradicional ofrenda, una muestra de solidaridad con

los más necesitados.Durante el trayecto, las parrandas y los grupos fol-

clóricos animaron a todos los asistentes del municipio y de otros puntos de la isla, en una nueva muestra de tipismo, tradición y exaltación de la esencia de nuestra tierra, de fidelidad al pasado. Las carretas arrastradas por burros y decoradas para la ocasión dieron colorido al recorrido, donde tampoco faltó el gofio amasado en el zurrón y el buen vino del país.

La celebración incluyó un encuentro folclórico en el que participaron la Agrupación Folclórica Mafasca, la Asociación Montejanana, el Centro de Mayores y El Campillo, que deleitaron a los asistentes con buena música canaria hasta la media noche.

DEVOTION, FOLKLORE AND A LARGE PARTICIPATION IN ANTIGUA’S

PROCESSIONThe religious fervour, the folklore and the large

participation marked the celebration of the popular procession and offerings in honour of Nuestra Señora de Antigua. Dressed with traditional outfits, around 400 participants in the processions, children, young people and adults walked the path that started at the municipal multi-sports hall and ended on the village’s main square. This is where the virgin was venerated and food, fruits from the earth were left at her feet as traditional offerings, a demonstration of solidarity for people in need.

During the procession, the street bands and fo-lkloric bands created animation for the crowd made up of both local people and neighbours from other areas of the island. This was a new demonstration of a typical tradition, exaltation of the essence of this earth and faithfulness to the past. The streets were filled with donkeys and decorated for the occasion, which brought colour to the procession, where gofio and the good local wine were also plentiful.

The celebration included a folkloric encounter that saw the participation of the Masafca Folkloric Group, the Montejanana Association, the Elders Day Centre and El Campillo who enchanted the crowd with good Canarian music until halfway through the night.ANDACHT, FOLKLORE UND ZAHLREICHE TEILNEHMER BEI DER WALLFAHRT VON

Nuestra Señora de Antigua zeichnete sich durch re-ligiöse Hingabe, Folklore und zahlreiche Teilnehmer aus. Die ungefähr 400 Pilger - Kinder, Jugendliche und Erwachsene -, die typische Kleidung trugen, zo-gen vom Sportgelände der Gemeinde bis zur Plaza del Pueblo. Dort verehrten sie die Heilige Jungfrau und legten ihr bei der traditionellen Opferung Le-bensmittel und Landwirtschaftsprodukte zu Füßen, um den Bedürftigsten ihre Solidarität zu beweisen.

Während der Wallfahrt animierten die Musik- und Folkloregruppen die Teilnehmer aus der Gemeinde und von verschiedenen Orten der Insel die Ve-ranstaltung, bei der Tradition und die Lobpreisung unserer Heimat sowie die Verbundenheit mit der



Vergangenheit zum Ausdruck gebracht wurden. Die geschmückten Kutschen, die von Eseln gezogen wurden, verliehen dem Umzug etwas Farbe. Es gab auch Gofio und Wein der Gegend.

Zu den Feierlichkeiten gehörte eine Folkloreve-ranstaltung an der die Folklore-Gruppe Mafasca, der Verein Montejanana, das Seniorenzentrum und El Campillo auftraten und die Teilnehmer bis Mitternacht mit guter kanarischer Musik erfreuten.

ANTIGUA BAILA AL RITMO DE LOS PAPAGüEVOS

El primer encuentro municipal de papagüevos congregó, el pasado mes de septiembre, a unas 200 personas, que disfrutaron del baile de estas figuras gigantes y de la música y el colorido de la charanga El Campillo, la batucada Achimencey y la Banda Ma-jorera por principales calles del pueblo. El recorrido, que duró más de una hora, acabó en la plaza de la localidad y alentó a los vecinos a disfrutar de las fiestas, tantos a los adultos como a los niños.

El pueblo acogió por primera vez esta iniciativa a nivel municipal, si bien ya albergó el pasado año el segundo encuentro insular en colaboración con el Cabildo de Fuerteventura, también dentro de su programa de fiestas. La asociación El Campillo fue la que más papagüevos presentó en la primera edición insular.

ANTIGUA DANCES TO THE RHYTHM OF THE PAPAGüEVOS

The first municipal encounter of the papagüevos (giants with enormous heads) gathered about 200 people in September, who enjoyed the dance of those giant personages and the music and the colourful-ness of El Campillo brass band, the Achimencey ba-tucada and the Mojorera Street Band that went round the streets of the village. The bands went rounds the streets for over an hour and ended up on the main square and cheered the neighbours, both adults and children, to come and join in.

The village welcomed this initiative on a munici-pal level for the first time, last year they hosted the second encounter of the island in collaboration with Fuerteventura’s Cabildo, which was also within their fiestas’ programme. El Campillo is the association that presented the largest amount of papagüevos in the first island’s edition.

ANTIGUA TANZT ZUM RHYTHMUS DER PAPAGüEVOS (GIGANTEN)

Im September nahmen ungefähr 200 Personen am ersten Papagüevos-Treffen der Gemeinde teil. Sie genossen den Tanz dieser Riesen und die Musik der Blechmusikkapelle El Campillo, der Batucada Achimencey und der Banda Majorera in den Haupts-traßen des Ortes. Der Umzug, der länger als eine Stunde dauerte, endete auf dem Platz des Ortes und feuerte die Anwohner – sowohl Kinder als auch Erwachsene - an, mitzufeiern.

In dem Ort fand zum ersten Mal diese Veranstal-tung auf Gemeinde-Ebene statt. Im vergangenen Jahr hatte hier jedoch im Rahmen des Volksfestes das

zweite Inseltreffen unter Zusammenarbeit mit dem Cabildo von Fuerteventura stattgefunden. Der Verein El Campillo präsentierte beim ersten Inseltreffen die meisten Papagüevos.

The Mayor met with 50 young people from the Cana-ries who participated in Corralejo in the “Diversion@, otra forma de divertirse” project (Diversion@, another way to have fun), which is organised by the “Guati-mac” Association from Tenerife and benefits from a European grant from the Youth in Action Programme.

The encounter that took place in the Municipality, where young people from all over the Islands took part, consisted in conferences, debates, round tables and group dynamics where various important themes were debated such as: Equality-Integration, housing, Europe, youth and social politics, to name a few.

Im Rahmen des Treffens, das in der Gemeinde stattfand und an dem junge Leute von allen Inseln teilnahmen, fanden Konferenzen, Diskussionen, Tafelrunden und Gruppendynamik statt. Es ging um Themen, die für junge Leute wichtig sind: Gleichbe-rechtigung-Integration, Wohnungen, Europa, Jugend- und Sozialpolitik usw.

EL AYUNTAMIENTO RETIRA LAS HAMACAS NO AUTORIZADAS

El Ayuntamiento retiró las hamacas no autorizadas

en las playas de Corralejo. La corporación pretendía poner fin a la ausencia de control de las hamacas autorizadas en las playas y exigir a los propietarios que respeten el límite establecido en las concesiones.

Se va a intensificar el control de aquellas conce-siones situadas en la vía pública para obligar a los adjudicatarios a que respeten escrupulosamente la normativa y no hagan uso de más espacio del que les corresponde.

Las hamacas retiradas en la playa de Corralejo viejo ocupaban más espacio del que les correspondía y su número excedía con creces las 50 autorizadas para dicha playa.

El Ayuntamiento ha adjudicado 1.350 hamacas, de las cuales 1.200 corresponden a las 12 sectores que existen en Grandes Playas, y las 150 restantes a Las Clavellinas, Corralejo viejo y Las Agujas. La concesión establece que este número se puede incrementar en un 50% durante los meses de verano.

Terrazas, hamacas y los comercios y restaurantes que invadan la vía pública deberán cumplir las or-denanzas municipales dado que, en caso contrario, se actuará por parte del Ayuntamiento para que se ajusten a lo establecido en la normativa municipal.

LA OLIVA’S AYUNTAMIENTO REMOVES UNAUTHORISED SUN-BEDS

The Ayuntamiento removed unauthorised sun-beds from Corralejo’s beaches. The corporation aimed at putting an end to the lack of control of unauthorised sun-beds on beaches and making owners respect the limit established in their contract.

The control on some areas situated on the public path is going to be intensified in order to make people obey strictly to the norm and not use more space than what they have been allocated.

The sun-beds that were removed from the beach of Corralejo Viejo were taking up more space than what they were allocated and there were more than the 50 sun-beds authorised for that beach.

The Ayuntamiento has granted 1.350 sun-beds, of which 1.200 correspond to the 12 areas on Grandes Playas, and the other 150 in Las Clavellinas, Corralejo Viejo and Las Agujas. The contract establishes that this number can be increased by 50% during the summer months.

Terraces, sun-beds, shops and restaurants that invade the public highway will have to comply with municipal regulations or the Ayuntamiento will take measures to ensure that they comply with the muni-cipal norms.

MEDIO CENTENAR DE JóVENES COMPITE EN EL PRIMER PáJARA PRIx

El primer Pájara Prix ha medido las aptitudes físicas e intelectuales de dos equipos de jóvenes del municipio. La singular competición, que reunió a medio centenar de participantes, se enmarcó en el segundo encuentro ‘Días juveniles’.

Este Pájara Prix evaluó diversos aspectos de los miembros de cada equipo (uno formado por vecinos y vecinas de Morro Jable y otro de la localidad de Pájara). Así, a las habituales pruebas físicas de otras competiciones se sumaron rondas de preguntas de cultura general.

El terreno de juego se situó en Costa Calma. Allí, los dos equipos demostraron su destreza en las dis-tintas pruebas hasta completar este primer Pájara Prix. La victoria fue para el equipo Pájara Pichones y Viceversa 2.0, que obtuvo un premio de mil euros en metálico y el reconocimiento de los asistentes.FIFTY YOUNG PEOPLE COMPETE IN THE

The first Pájara Prix measured the physical and mental abilities of two teams of young people from the municipality. This outstanding competition that gathered fifty participants was organised within the second “Días juveniles” encounter.

This Páraja Prix evaluated various abilities of the team members (one made of neighbours from Morro Jable and the other from the town of Pájara). The-refore some general culture questions were added to the traditional physical challenges of the other competitions.

The games area was situated in Costa Calma. This is where both teams showed their skills in various challenges until completing the Pájara Prix. Victory was taken away by the Pájara Pichone y Viceversa team 2.0, who won a prize of one thousand Euros in cash and the recognition of the assistance.

FüNFZIG JUGENDLICHE KÄMPFEN UM DEN PáJARA PRIx

Bei dem ersten Pájara Prix wurden die physischen und geistigen Eigenschaften der beiden beteiligten Mannschaften von jungen Leuten aus der Gemeinde gemessen. Der einzigartige Wettbewerb, an dem fünfzig Personen teilnahmen, fand im Rahmen der zweiten ‘Jugendtage‘ statt.

Dieser Pájara Prix bewertet die verschiedenen As-pekte der Mitglieder jeder Mannschaft (eine besteht aus Einwohner/innen aus Morro Jable und die andere aus Einwohner/innen aus Pájara). Hier kamen zu den physischen Prüfungen, die bei anderen Wettkämpfen üblich sind, auch Fragen, die mit dem Allgemeinwis-sen zu tun hatten.

Das Wettkampfgelände befand sich in Costa Calma. Dort zeigten die Mannschaften ihre Fähigkeiten bei den verschiedenen Prüfungen dieses ersten Pájara Prix. Die Mannschaft Pájara Pichones y Viceversa gewann 2.0 und bekam einen Geldpreis über tausend Euro sowie die Anerkennung der Anwesenden.

78 boats coming from harbours all over the Ca-naries participated in September in the Deep-sea Fishing Open of Gran Tarajal, looking for photos or captures of Blue Marlin weighing over 300 kilos that would allow them to win an Opel Meriva, the Special Prize for this competition.

The formal inauguration of the competition took place in the harbour of Gran Tarajal and was preceded by the technical meeting with the skippers and their crew for the explanations of the characteristics and rules of a challenge that has now reached its 17th edition and is becoming one of the most prominent in the Canaries.

Plátano de Canarias acaba de concluir la campaña de promoción de dicha fruta desarrollada durante los últimos meses en toda la geografía nacional con el reparto de once premios por un valor total de 12.000 euros.

El primer premio, de 6.000 euros, recayó en Anto-nino Casella, un italiano afincado desde hace más de 30 años en Fuengirola, que envió más de 50 tickets de compra y realizó 25 registros en la página web de Plátano de Canarias. A esto se ha sumado la entrega de otros diez premios de 600 euros cada uno.

Casella se mostró satisfecho por el premio y re-saltó que es un consumidor habitual de plátanos de Canarias. En este sentido, precisó que se trata de

un producto en el que confía plenamente por su alta calidad y cualidades nutricionales y que, a su vez, considera básico dentro de una alimentación sana. Asimismo, destacó algunas de sus peculiaridades más características, como su sabor dulce que, aña-dió, le convierte en un alimento único.

La promoción ha evidenciado un alto nivel de participación por parte de los consumidores, al con-tabilizarse 17.623 participaciones. Para sumarse a la campaña, los usuarios tuvieron que acreditar dos comprobantes de compra de plátano de Canarias para acceder a la campaña, además de realizar la posterior inscripción a través de la web de Plátano de Canarias, de sms o por correo.

Durante el periodo de desarrollo de la campaña se superaron las 21.200 visitas a la web. Asimismo, se han obtenido importantes logros en la potenciación

del consumo y el reconocimiento del plátano de Ca-narias, tal y como queda patente con la ampliación del número de fans de la marca en las redes sociales.

Precisamente, durante el mes de julio Plátano de Canarias superó los 5.000 fans en Facebook, situándose en estos momentos en torno a los 7.300, lo que le coloca a la cabeza del ránking de marcas del sector nacional.

Nos visita Ricardo Villanueva Senchuk, quien lleva relacionado con el tenis toda su vida en las diferentes facetas de jugador, entrenador, árbitro y sobre todo apasionado de dicho deporte y quien desempeña ahora la gestión como secretario del Club Deportivo Villase, fundado hace unos once años y que cuenta en la actualidad con unos 30 socios federados.

El motivo de su visita, aparte de contarnos cosas relacionadas con el tenis en Fuerteventura, es pre-sentarnos el próximo Máster de Tenis Copa Cabildo Fuerteventura “Open Playitas Resort”, que se cele-brará en las canchas del mencionado Resort entre los días 10 al 13 de noviembre.

¿Qué nos puede contar del tenis en esta isla?Lo primero que se me ocurre es la dificultad que nos

encontramos los amantes de este deporte para poder practicarlo regularmente. La escasez de canchas es evidente y de las que se dispone, casi todas forman parte de algún complejo hotelero y, lógicamente es-tán principalmente destinadas a los huéspedes de dichas instalaciones. Por este motivo se hace muy difícil poder utilizarlas.

Otra situación con la que nos encontramos es la fal-ta de recursos y subvenciones y, aunque si tenemos

alguna pequeña de el Cabildo, siempre tenemos que recurrir a instituciones privadas para poder organizar los torneos, clínicas u otros eventos.¿Qué ofrece el Club Villase a los practicantes y aficionados de este deporte?

Principalmente tratamos de ser un nexo de unión entre los tenistas de Fuerteventura. Debido a la ex-tensa longitud de la isla, es difícil tener al tanto a los interesados de las noticias, temas relacionados con la Delegación, ITF, torneos y eventos que se producen.

Bien, durante la última década se ha celebrado este evento en nuestra isla ganando importancia entre las actividades deportivas programadas en Canarias.

Los eventos, torneos y Campeonatos federados or-ganizados han permitido cosechar buenos resultados de nuestros jugadores a nivel regional. Así, se con-solidan varios focos donde se desarrolla la actividad de forma continua, Corralejo, La Oliva, Puerto del Rosario, El Castillo, Antigua, Gran Tarajal, Costa Calma y Jandía.

Este año hemos apostado por un evento con casi 2.000 euros en premios, lo que atraerá más partici-pantes, mejorando el nivel del torneo, homologado e inscrito en el calendario de la Federación Canaria y la RFET. Supone una buena oportunidad para obte-ner altas puntuaciones en la clasificación nacional, además de premios en metálico.

El Máster Copa Cabildo es la competición que cierra cada año el programa de actividad oficial, premiando, con el mejor tenis posible, a todos los que han con-tribuido para que nuestro tenis crezca año tras año.

Aun quedan objetivos por alcanzar; conseguir más federados, formar equipos juveniles y veteranos, mejorar la infraestructura pública, desarrollar la competición interescolar y muy en especial, promover la continuidad de nuestras féminas en el deporte.

We met with Ricardo Villanueva Senchuk, who has been involved in tennis all his life on different levels: as player, coach, referee and mainly as an enthusiast for this sport and who is now taking care of mana-gement as secretary of the Villase Sports’ Club, that was created about eleven years ago and that currently has 30 federated members.

What can you tell us about tennis on this island?The first thing that I can think about is the difficulty

that we, tennis enthusiasts, have to meet in order to practise regularly. The scarcity of courts is evident and the few that there are, are mostly part of a hotel complex, and logically they are mainly destined to guests of those resorts. This is why it is quite difficult to use them.

We mainly try to be a link between tennis players in Fuerteventura. Because of the size of the island, it is difficult to keep everyone up to date with the news, matters related with the Delegation, ITF, tournaments and events that are organised. Well, over the past decade we have been celebra-ting this event on our island which has been becoming more and more popular amongst the programmed sports’ activities in the Canaries.

The events, tournaments and Federation Cham-pionships organised have allowed us to get good re-sults for our players on a regional level. This is how we have consolidated various areas of continuous activity in Corralejo, La Oliva, Puerto del Rosario, El Castillo, Antigua, Gran Tarajal, Costa Calma and Jandía.

This year we plan to organise an event with almost 2.000 Euros worth of prizes, which will attract more participants, improving the level of the tournament, which is homologated and registered in the calendar of the Canarian Federation and the RFET. Recientemente se celebró, en la terraza de la 3ª planta de un conocido centro comercial de la capital, la elección de Miss y Míster Fuerteventura 2011, pa-trocinado oficialmente por Planificaciones Mundiales, copatrocinado por el Centro Comercial y organizado por la agencia Bellemodel.

Las 13 candidatas y 8 candidatos pasaron en ropa de baño y noche, realizando las primeras una coreogra-fía en bikini y pareo. Durante la gala de pudo disfrutar además de la actuación de los Ricki Furiati y Dángelo.

The 13 female candidates and 8 male candidates displayed swimwear and nightwear and were dressed in a bikini and beach wrap for the first choreography.
