Garden To Table

In Garden to Table classes we have been cooking up more winter vegetable soup, but with spring just around the corner we have started to look

towards our summer harvest. We have been preparing our garden beds with plenty of compost and sheep manure and ordering seeds ready for the summer harvest to begin.

During class time we have focused on pollination and learning about the different insects that pollinate. We

have started sowing seeds for the pollinators garden to lure more beneficial pollinators into Edendale's

grounds. Did you know that one in every three bites of food we eat is possibly made by a pollinator and 80% of all flowering plants rely on a pollinator for survival!

In the kitchen we have made the most of our winter

harvest and cooked up a storm with bubble and squeak on the menu. Potatoes, leeks, spring onions, carrots, Italian parsley and thyme served with the green tomato chutney that we made in summer, all came from our garden. The Endeavour team kitchen skills are increasing, well done!

A big thank you to all our wonderful volunteers who help make our classes a fun learning experience for the Endeavour students. We still have volunteer

vacancies for Wednesday gardening classes and Thursday kitchen classes (choose either 12:00—

1.00pm in the Garden, or 12:00 - 2:50pm in the kitchen.

Please email [email protected] if you have any

questions.
