JAMMU, Feb 1: A meetingof the executive committee ofBaba Amarnath & BudaAmarnath Yatri Niyas which is
an amalgam of different Socio-religious, Non-Political,Business & Trade organisa-tions, NGOs and PhilanthropicOrganizations, was held underthe chairmanship of SurinderMohan Aggarwal, President ofBABA Yatri Niyas here todayregarding the coming annualpilgrimage of Baba ShriAmarnath Ji.
The meeting was called todiscuss about the recent devel-opments regarding AmarnathYatra 2014, which shall com-mence from June 28 and cul-minate on August 10 onRaksha Bandhan this year, asthis year’s duration of theYatra shall be of 44 days only,thereby SASB has reduced itfurther by 11 days than the pre-vious year, as the yatra was of55 days in 2013.
The other aspects discussedduring the meeting includedthe arrangements to be madeby SASB regarding the regis-trations of pilgrims, compulso-ry health certificate which hasbeen made mandatory fromlast year’s Yatra and therevamped high security yatrapermit as per the statement
made by SASB which is hav-ing high security features forthis year’s yatra of ShriAmarnath Ji.
It was resolved in the meet-ing that, before taking any
action, a generalcouncil meeting ofall its associateswill be called atthe earliest so thattheir opinion isalso taken aboutthe duration andthe othera n n o u n c e m e n t smade by SASBregarding the com-ing yatra of ShriAmarnath for2014.
It was alsodecided that
another meeting will be organ-ised on February 3, in whichrepresentatives of associateLangar Organisations ofBABA Yatri Niyas shall beinvited to seek their opinionfor making better arrange-ments for the coming yatra ofShri Amarnath Ji.
The meeting, decided toput-up hoardings to welcomethe delegates of The IndianScience Congress Association,who are visiting Jammu for the11th Science Congress, whichis going to be organised in theUniversity of Jammu fromFebruary 3 to 7, an eventwhich has been allotted toJammu city, as for the firsttime in the 100 years history ofthis organisation, such a bigevent is going to be organisedin a small city like Jammu.
Prominent among thosewho were also present in themeeting included RajeshGupta, Onkar Sharma,Dineshwar Singh Jamwal,Anoop Aggarwal, SudarshanKhajuria, Sham Langar,Varinder Jain, RamnikMahajan and Bal KishanGupta.

DC launches election helpline,electoral registration drive

REASI, Feb 1: DistrictElection Officer Reasi Dr ShahidIqbal Choudhary, who is alsoDistrict Election Officer, launcheda Toll Free Helpline for ElectoralFacilitation to help the voters forregistration and to redress variousgrievances related to election relat-ed matters.
The Toll Free Number 1800-1807-041 will be free for all net-works of GSM and landline num-bers. Voters can contact the elec-tion cell on this number withoutany call charge. Aseparate line hasalso been launched for the BoothLevel Officers to facilitate theirneeds in the field. Initially, thenumber will operate from 10 am -8 pm and after two weeks it will beround the clock facility.
Meanwhile, the DEO alsolaunched an Electoral RegistrationDrive at all 301 Polling Stations.Booth Level Officers will remainavailable February 1 to 5 atrespective polling stations alongwith latest voter list for scrutiny of
general public, to register new vot-ers and also for deletions and mod-ifications in the list.

3 injured in road mishap

A police spokesman said amotorcycle, JK13/8530, hit andinjured two persons nearJablipora. The motorcyclist wasalso injured. They have beenshifted to a hospital for treat-ment.
