Audience Research

Introduction. In this presentation I will be displaying the results of my Questionnaire that I completed for my AS Media Studies Coursework. I produced a Questionnaire to gain a better understanding of what the audience expects and wants to see in a Music Magazine. This will then help me to produce a Music Magazine that is suitable to the audience. In this presentation I will be displaying the results of my Questionnaire and also analysing these results.

What is your favourite colour?I asked this question so that I could see which colour scheme May appeal to my target audience. These results will then help me to decide which colour scheme to use on my own music magazine. The most popular result was blue, shortly followed by red and green. This means that I will use one of these colours in my colour scheme because they appeal to the audience so would encourage them to purchase my magazine.

How much would you be willing to pay for a music magazine?I asked this question so that I could see how much the target audience would be willing to pay for a music magazine so that I could choose a suitable price for my magazine. As you can see from the pie chart, the majority of the people who completed my questionnaire would be willing to pay 2.00-3.00. Because of this, I will then make the price of my music magazine between 2.00 and 3.00.

How often do you read magazines?I asked this question so that I could see how often the target audience reads magazines. This will then help me to decide the frequency of publication for my magazine, whether it is a weekly or monthly published magazine. As shown in the pie chart, the most popular result was monthly. This then means that monthly is the most suitable frequency of publication for my magazine to be published as it may be more suitable to my target audience.

What feature articles would you like to see in music magazine? I asked this question so that I could gain a better understanding of what the target audience expect to see and read in a music magazine. This would then help me to include articles that may particularly interest my target audience. As shown in the pie chart, the most popular result was Behind the scenes and was shortly followed by Top songs/album choices of the week. I will consider this when thinking of feature articles to include in my own music magazine.

What extras do you like in magazines?I asked this question so that I could find out what extras my target audience like to see in magazines so that I could possibly include some in my own music magazine so that it would interest the reader further. As shown on the pie chart, the most popular result was CDs, followed by posters. This then means that I could include one of these extras in my own music magazine so that it may persuade the target audience to purchase my magazine further.

What is your favourite music magazine?I asked this question so that I could find out which particular magazine interests the target audience most. This then means that I can look at the most popular magazine whilst producing my own music magazine for inspiration and ideas.
