Opportunities to Change and Grow During Lent!

God’s Plan for Healthier Relationships

We were created by Love and for love! Relationships are the most satisfying, meaningful, fulfilling things we have in life but we all know that they can also be the most difficult and painful things in our life as well. In this six part series we will explore God’s desire for relationships and the opportunity they provide for us to change and grow into more healthy, balanced human beings. We will explore boundaries, communication, conflict resolution and more in very practical lessons so that our families can become closer to God’s intention for them. Sundays During Lent: 2:00 PM at St. Philip 6:00 PM at the Village Inn

Entering The Abundant Life

“I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

Jesus has offered to lead us into peace, joy and abundant life, yet so few of us have peace and joy these days. Are His promises true? Even in this crazy, modern age we live in? Are they true for you? This Lent, we invite you to focus on God’s plan for your life and discover the truth about who God is and who you are, truths that can lead to greater peace and joy in your life.

God Has a Plan God Loves You

If God loves me, why does my life stink? Renewing your Mind

fasting and almsgiving (75% to Catholic Relief Services; 25% for local assistance to poor)

I would like to thank everyone for the many prayers, cards, kind gestures and wishes that I have received during this period of recuperation from knee surgery. Your thoughtfulness is truly appreciated. I am also profoundly grateful for the assistance of Fr. Amato as well as Fr. Will Metzler who was gracious enough to travel from Connecticut and remain with us for several weeks. As you know, Fr. Seamus Griesbach has taken on additional responsibilities in our parish until I am able to resume my duties. I am very humbled by everyone’s generosity and under-standing. God bless you all!

“As I have done, so you also must do" One-Day Retreat in Biddeford on March 18

A one-day retreat, “As I have done, so you also must do,” will be held at the Marie Joseph Spiritual Center in Biddeford on Wednesday, March 18. At the Last Supper, Jesus washed the feet of his apostles, establishing the ministry he wanted for his followers. What meaning does this hold for us today? The retreat runs from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $60, which includes a hot meal. For more information or to register, visit www.mariejosephspiritual.org or call (207) 284-5671.

Come Experience the Real Presence of Jesus!

The Adoration Chapel at Holy Cross Church is a beautiful, peaceful place to encounter God’s love in a special way. This Lent we are inviting you on a Lenten adventure - come and spend time focusing on our God’s passionate, personal love for YOU! Even if you have never experienced adoration before, make a Lenten commitment, and come visit each week during Lent. Those participating will gather as a group before Lent begins to start the journey off together. We will be receiving a set of meditations - one for each week of Lent - each focusing on some aspect of God’s love for us as individuals. At the end of Lent, we will come together again and share with each other how the Lord met us in our times of adoration!

Kick Off Gathering 1:00 PM, Sunday, February 23 at the Adoration Chapel with a meeting the church hall afterward

Wrap Up Sharing Time 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 18 at the Adoration Chapel with a meeting the church hall afterward

Presentation on Three Beliefs

Three Beliefs is a document which was recently produced by the diocese to help those who may be dealing with end-of-life issues either for themselves or for their loved ones. Suzanne Lafreniere, who works for the diocese in the area of public policy, will be giving her presentation at Sacred Heart parish hall next Wednesday, February 26 (Ash Wednesday) around 1:30 pm. Suzanne’s presenta-tion is certain to be very informative. There will also be opportunity for questions.

Dear busy involved Catholic

We are involved in a Lay Fraternity of the Dominican Order, and we would like to challenge you to check it out. Cal Ripken Jr wrote “just show up” and challenged people to rise up and be more, minimizing the slumps so that the winning streaks are better. As a busy Catholic Christian, you do more than most others to bring Christ into the world. You look for opportunities to share His life with others. Wouldn’t it be great to get to know others like you, taking on the world and trying to grow in holiness? As a busy person we aren’t asking you to do more, but to maximize your efforts by joining with others who have the same vision and who encourage each other in their apostolate. Come and see what the Lay Dominicans are all about. Saturday March 14 at 9am, at the Dominican Sisters Residence 61 Lisbon Rd Sabattus, coffee and light breakfast will be available. FMI contact Denise Mailhot at 786-3380.

There will be a Special Collection NEXT WEEKEND, February 26th for Black and Inidan Mission. The Black and Indian Mission Collection exists to help local African American

and Native American Diocesan Communities throughout the United States spread the Good News of Jesus Christ and respond to real and pressing needs on the ground.
